We had a great time at Lesleigh's place. We will be back. What a great place for a ski weekend. Devil's Head Ski Resort is just down the road. A summer/spring vacation would also be fantastic! A day trip to Devil's Lake, a canoe adventure on Lake Wisconsin, or just reading a book on her balcony and appreciating a quiet day in the woods. We had 5 people stay- 4 adults, one child- and we had plenty of room. The place is cozy and clean. The wood burning stove kept us warm and toasty. We skiied during the day, read books, made dinner in Lesleigh's fully equipped kitchen, listened to music, chatted all night, and drank a little wine :) My 5 year old said she wanted to "stay there forever" :)

A group of friends and I were looking for a place close to Devil's Head to ski and this place fit the bill. You can walk through the trees and get to the slopes in less than 5 minutes. The condo was great and had everything we needed to make some wonderful meals as we hung out by the fire. Amazing place at a good price.

We rented this condo because of the proximity of Devil's Head. It was extremely convenient because we did not want to drive to ski. The condo is literally next to the resort. Our group consisted of 5 adults, and this cozy place fit all of us nicely. The kitchen opens into the living room, so it was very convenient to be part of the discussions that took place in the living room. Moreover, we enjoyed gathering together in the living room because the furniture arrangement was perfect to accommodate all of us. The kitchen is functional and fully-stocked. Also, the beds are comfortable. Lesleigh, the owner, was very helpful and caring. All in all, we had a great time!

Owner response: My hope is that these friends return in one of the other beautiful seasons up here! Just being able to languish, for at least ONE morning, in bed is sometimes a great vacation all by itself...and worth a drive from the city.

Fantastic condo - cosy, beautifully decorated, great location - next to the ski slopes. Relax in front of the fireplace after a cold day outside. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Lesleigh is the nicest person you can imagine, always reachable for questions or assistance. We are looking forward to going back. Thank you, Lesleigh.

Owner response: If memory serves, we were all concerned that the snow would be skiiable (is that a word?)...Devil's Head made snow, and Mother Nature blew cold enough to keep the slopes ski ready. Whew! Hope to see this cheerful bunch up here again! On top of it all, they left me some WONDERFUL Bulgarian homemade yogurt! YUM!

My friends and I came up for a weekend getaway and were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations. This is a nicely decorated condo among the trees. It has just the right amount of space and amenities to make a pleasant and relaxing weekend getaway with friends or family. The owner was gracious and accommodating. This will definitely be on our list for a re-visit. Thanks for a great stay.

We have been returning to Rocky Glen Condo each winter (this was our fourth time). The condo is very quiet and cozy, ideal place to relax by the fireplace and read a good book. The kitchen is fully equipped, no need to worry about pots and pans, plates, utensils, spices etc. We love skiing at Devil's Head resort and coming back to the condo after a day of skiing feels like returning home. This year we brought our cross-country skis and tried the trail on Devil's Head's golf course - it was a wonderful experience. Lesleigh is very accommodating and we never had any problems booking our trip or communicating with her. The condo is very clean and sleeps 6 adults easily. It is a place to relax with family and friends and make a new memories!! We are planning to return back

Arriving from inner city London, this was a perfect peaceful getaway. The condo was spotlessly clean, bright, comfortable and well stocked, with loads of extras we had not expected . Comfy beds for a great night’s sleep. Kitchen very well equipped and laid out. We made delectable dishes using local from farmer’s markets and direct from the nearby farms themselves! For example we spent a sunny Saturday picking up specialties on the square in Madison such as Emu steaks, wild rice and pumpkin sourdough bread. On the scenic short drive back we stopped at the local winery and sampled the excellent award winning wines in a historic setting before catching the free ferry across Lake Wisconsin with glorious views of the surrounding bluffs. The living room is very comfortable and warm with a cozy log fire, easy to light and use. Views from the balcony are stunning, second to none! We were lucky enough to arrive for autumnal colours in full display and seeing the change of seasons -leaves turning, falling and finally the snow. Each day revealed a new vista and what a surprise to wake one morning and look out to see the view of the Wisconsin lake in the distance. Sun in the day and stars in the evening good as you can imagine, even a spectacular meteor shower. This condo is a real treasure - a great nurturing comfortable base. What is there to do in the area? Plenty! For a wide range of tastes, ages and abilities. We took up walking Devil’s Lake, Parfrey’s Glen and the Ice Age Trails from which you feel renewed by fresh air and find a true sense of well being. Visiting the Crane Foundation, Indian Agency House and places too numerous to mention, steeped in the rich history of that area of Wisconsin. The antique shops are plentiful as are the second hand shops where you can spend days on end. There is boating, golf, skiing, horseback riding and more – and our stay was not long enough! Eating out is good too, great fish fries and now we don't know how we will manage without lake perch on a Friday night. Just a short ferry trip to some wonderful drives around the lake with where you can choose from good restaurants with views over the lake. Lesleigh is a delightful and generous host, at hand to make your vacation as pleasant as can be. The little extras and all of the special touches around the place make you feel at home and instantly comfortable. This place and the people make it truly special. Shame we live so far away, but promise we will be back soon!

Owner response: London! Once in love with that city, always in love with it...but I remain lovelorn in Wisconsin for the moment. Susan and Sheila left a LOT of soft laughter and MUCH appreciation strewn about Rocky Glen. Somehow, reading (and in October, hearing) descriptions of local adventures makes being here more special. Looking forward to seeing them again...and to their enjoying the energy and memories created here since the October visit.

We have stayed at Rocky Glen a couple of times and were totally pleased during our time there. This year we wanted to stay at Rocky Glen because of the wonderful view of the fall colors; we were not disappointed. Lesleigh, the proprietor, is very pleasant and a wonderful hostess. She was available and ready to help anyway she could. We enjoyed the fires during the evenings which provided an ambiance second to none. We highly recommend Rocky Glen.

Owner response: It is a real treat to welcome folks back who have made their own special connection with this place and space...and their timing for being amongst our loud and lush fall colors this year was perfect! There IS something magic about driving Bluff Road through the canopy of color made truly magnificent by shards of sun adding glow and gleam.

We enjoyed our stay and appreciated being able to bring our dog. The place was clean and well maintained. The owner is helpful and pleasant to do business with. It is close to Devil's and Mirror Lakes for those who like to fish or hike. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Scent of the coming Fall is emerging from the woods now, so muggy will give way to crisp breezes and evening fires...what a relief...time to exhale.

Beds were comfortable and all was as expected. The location is great--only a few miles into Baraboo or a few miles and the ferry ride to fantastic Gilbratar Rock near Lodi. The place is secluded and quiet. Very nice. If you have pet allergies or cannot abide pet hairs here and there, I would suggest someplace else. But other than that it was fantastic! A great value for the money.

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: So glad you had a great time, and I appreciate all of your comments. Because dogs are usually such important family members, I decided to be certain the WHOLE family has a chance to vacation together. Even purchased a Dyson Animal vaccuum some time ago to help me do the best job I can to capture the inevitable dog hair. Not certain I can do anything reasonable about allergies, so this guest's advice is realistic and thoughtful.

About the owner: Comfy in the living room - fireplace blazing nearby and watching something wonderful on PBS...probably the Dicken's series...what teriffic tear-jerkers!

                          Why the Owner Chose Merrimac:
How could I NOT have fallen in love with this place!? (I didn't mean to...it was a first project for me/my brother.) Although not a skiier or golfer, I AM a walker and I just step out the door and I'm nearly in the woods...AND from the balcony I can touch the nearby oak tree high, high up. Only squirrels or cranes get a better view.

The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Peace - to watch the trees 'converse' with each other - the neverending changes framed by each window to the forest - the very occasional concert (Los Lobos a several several years ago) or fireworks from Devil's Head Resort on New Year's Eve - sitting around the firepit on a summer or fall evening - the water from a quartzite well in the basement (it bypasses the water softening system otherwise required for the building) - staying up the nights male owls joust in the air above our parking lot (I always think of the Quiddich field from Harry Potter.
