Sunstone Landing in Yucca Valley is the ideal 'base camp' for rock climbers, hikers, pilots, and other desert adventurers. This three bedroom/two bath home is a comfortable, convenient, and well-equipped group or family escape only six miles from world-class rock climbing paradise Joshua Tree National Park. As an added bonus, it is located on Yucca Valley Airport (L22), in Southern California's High Desert.
Bordered on the west by the San Bernardino Mountains and the south by the Joshua Tree National Park, Yucca Valley is situated 3200 feet above sea level. This area is revered for its spectacular sunrises and sunsets, beautiful blue skies, and sweeping desert vistas. Yucca Valley boasts clean air, low humidity, and moderate temperatures in a friendly small-town atmosphere. Comfortable summers, mild winters, and low relative humidity make the high desert a favorite destination year round.
Nearby Recreation:
Yucca Valley is only six miles from Joshua Tree National Park, which offers a wide array of rock climbing, hiking, and nature-oriented opportunities. Horseback riding is also offered nearby. Pioneertown, less than 10 minutes away, has Old West Re-Enactments on weekends April through October. Approximately 30 minutes away is the 'low desert,' with Palm Springs, its many golf courses, and the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. The tram takes you to 8600 feet on Mount San Jacinto for spectacular alpine hiking in the summer, or snow activities in the winter. Yucca Valley is within two hours of ski and mountain resorts, Pacific Ocean beaches, the Colorado River, and numerous other major attractions.
Around Town:
Yucca Valley offers all the amenities of modern life without the complications of the 'big city.' Visitors can enjoy large retail outlets and small 'mom and pop' establishments. There is no gridlock, and a trip through town will take no more than five minutes.
Sunstone Landing is within walking distance to supermarkets, restaurants, and shops. A five-minute drive will take you to many additional supermarkets, restaurants, and retail outlets. Several high quality restaurants (including American, Thai, Mexican, and Italian) are to be found in Yucca Valley and nearby Joshua Tree. The area also offers live music clubs (e.g., Pappy and Harriet's), health food stores, used book stores, movie and live theaters, internet cafes, and a bowling alley. Buyers and browsers alike will delight in the wide array of nearby western-oriented shops, as well as galleries featuring the works of local artists.
Access:
Palm Springs International Airport is the closest major airport with commercial service, and is only 35 minutes away. Ontario Airport is approximately one hour away, while Long Beach and Los Angeles are approximately two hours driving time. San Diego is two-and-one-half hours and Las Vegas is three-and-one-half hours by car.
Of course, since Sunstone Landing is located on the Yucca Valley airport, flying in by private aircraft provides the most direct access. Enterprise car rental is a ten-minute walk from the house, and they can bring the car to you.

Yucca Valley Airport (L22) is a non-towered, public-access airport community with a paved, lighted, 4300-foot X 60-foot runway. Airport elevation is 3200 feet. There are approximately four take-offs or landings per day during the week, and double that on weekends, so aircraft noise is not an issue.

The house was very spacious and as pictured. The patio was beautiful, especially at night. There were plenty of blankets, pillows, towels, kitchen accessories, etc. for all 8 of us. The owner was extremely helpful, answering all of my questions very promptly. I did not have any problems during my stay. I would highly recommend this property. The area was quiet and easy to find, with a Starbucks and a Walmart (for all of those forgotten items) right down the street. The area was safe and very well kept.
Recommended for:Families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Just as presented - nice layout and very clean. The kitchen was well-stocked and fun to work with. We really enjoyed our stay. It was fun be so close to the airport. The mattresses in the bunk beds were really hard - that is my ONLY criticism. Everything else was wonderful. We would definitely come back and stay again. We came, we climbed, we cooked . . . it was great!
