A place to retreat and relax – a place to call home. This is what we found near Chattanooga, TN. It’s rare in this day and age to find a place that meets all your needs AND to have the proprietor be so accommodating and friendly that you feel as if you have known them for years! Our stay for 11 days was very special due in large part to Karen and Peter being so willing to make our stay a memorable one. And it truly was. We were content to be “home” for most of our stay in Chattanooga, though there is much to do in the area. The house is located near to everything you have need of from shopping to restaurants yet affords a very private and peaceful setting where you can enjoy the quiet surroundings. Karen and Peter have thought of just about everything from scotch tape to laundry detergent! The furnishings are wonderful – comfy and practical. Really, all you need to bring are your own snacks and your clothes! Our stay was very special to us as a family since my dad is ill and we wanted it to be a stress-free gathering where we could savor the moments together. Thanks to Karen and Peter, it was a memorable time for us. They even had a lift-chair brought in so that my dad could rest and feel at home! I would highly recommend this rental and would like to visit again some day.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+, sightseeing, families with teenagers, people with disabilities.

What a wonderful, peaceful location. After days of hiking, shopping and being a "tourist", it was wonderful to come back to such a great spot! We enjoyed sitting on the front porch, and also the back deck so we could watch our dog investigate the yard. He loved all the shade, and the room to romp around. Thanks for making your home "our home" for a short time.Recommended for: Pet owners, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We came with teenagers and their friends for a Spring Break getaway, and now my kids want to go nowhere else. We were in heaven in the wooded boulder-strewn mountainside, listening to songbirds, watching stars and heat-lightening at night, stretching out on the screened-in porch with friends. This house was perfect for us, providing lots of common spaces for multiple different age-groups to socialize on the three separate floors. The kitchen was fully stocked and allowed us to cook for several dinner parties. The electronics were perfect for the kids. Even the dogs and ferret we brought had a perfect time. The house feels completely secluded but is easy to get to, with nearby shopping centers and highway access. Inside, the decor was beautiful but comfortable, and (my interest) low maintenance, allowing quick and easy clean up when we left. Probably what I liked best about it was that the owner, Karen, loves the place, and you feel that personal hominess in every room. Felt more like a visit to a friend than a rental. Thank you again!Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers.

I rented this house for a low-key bachelorette party weekend, and we loved it! The house is kept clean and in good condition, the furniture is nice and homey, and we slept 8 people comfortably with room to spare. The living room area is lovely and was a great place for everyone to hang out. The house is in a really serene, scenic area, and I think all the girls were impressed with this choice. The property owner was vigilant about keeping in touch with me prior to our stay. She even called me the night before our stay began to explain a few specifics about the house and give detailed directions to make sure no one got lost on the way. Also, the price was very reasonable compared to a lot of the other properties I looked into. The house is lovely, the property owner was great to work with, and I honestly don't think you can find a better place to stay for the money. I would definitely recommend this house.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We really want you to know that we totally enjoyed your Hixson, Tn., lodge/home last weekend for our birthday and family reunion. It was everything that you advertised and that we expected. The weather was brutally hot until Monday (labor day) morning when the rains came, so we had good weather in addition to great accommodations. We will recommend your vacation villa to any and all of our friends and relatives that may be looking for a quiet place for rejuvenation and relaxation. Again, your place "fits that bill" wonderfully.Recommended for: Pet owners, age 55+, romantic getaway.

After the hustle and bustle of life in Paris, this setting reminded me so much of my Scottish roots. Having read the reviews and although there was only one that was negative, I did contact the owners to clarify certain points that this gentleman had made. I learned that the fridge problem was due to a storm and required only the flick of a switch. The grill had been replaced and as for the hot tub, in temperatures of 95 degrees, the last thing we wanted was a hot bath. The owners kindly offered us a reduced rate due to the fact that the hot tub no longer heated up. The scenery was magnificent and the house absolutely beautiful. The views reminded me of those from my parents' home in Scotland and I will certainly go back. My concerns soon disappeared - in fact - five minutes after our arrival. I have no hesitation in recommending this idylllic location for the perfect vacation. Take a look at the view from the front porch!!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

Six family members, including two grandchildren, ages 6 & 8 enjoyed exploring the Chattanooga Area: Aquarium, Signal Mountain, battlefields, nearby brook, Tellus Science Museum etc. The brook was definitely everyone’s favorite. The house was clean and adequately supplied. Arriving Saturday evening, however, we discovered the refrigerator not working, and later that the gas grill had not worked for a long time – broken knobs, grease filling the gas holes, rust, etc. In addition, shortly before arriving, the very personable overseas owner had notified us that the hot tub was not functioning. The “advertised mountain views” may have been true at one time. Four weeks later, we anxiously await the return of our $250 damage deposit. Over the years, my wife and I have rented over a dozen vacation homes. Chattanooga Lodge is not a good value.Owner response: The above review is a FIRST for us. The return of the damage deposit went astray in the mail and triggered this review. The refrigerator was not working due to a power outage earlier in the day because of a storm, a flip of the switch and it worked. We have a great new $450 gas grill our old one worked but needed replacing. The mountain is still there and the view is still beautiful from the screened front porch. Damage deposits are now asked for in a separate check and not deposited. Our rates have also been reduced and offer fantastic value for such a lovely home. Please see the review from our guests who vacationed at our home after this stay also listed. Unfortunately, this guest also commented that the River trip was badly planned!!!

My family and I rented the Chattanooga Lodge with another family from July 30 - August 7 for the ASA 16U Nationals Softball Championship in which both our daughters participated. The house far exceeded our expectations. It was clean, comfortable and well maintained. It was so nice to get up in the morning and be able to have a cup of coffee on the screened porch to get the day started. Having a full-sized kitchen for meal preparation was wonderful. With two softball players we generated a lot of dirty clothes and having the convenience of a washer and dryer made the week easier. It was a great experience and I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a great place that is out of the way but close enough to shopping and restaurants to check out the Chattanooga Lodge. If you have a chance, grab a bite to eat at the Big River Grille and Brewing Works in downtown Chattanooga. You won't be sorry.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

Another vacation of relaxation and memories! We simply love this home. It has everything you need for a great vacation. relaxing porch, quiet large backyard with deck. This is our return visit and we are already planning our next. Grandma was just as impressed as we were. We filled the hummingbird feeders and added one, on the last day they returned Yeah! Hubby and i had "date night" in Chattanooga while gma and Rex stayed home resting on the porch... Your home is a great place for ALL... Thank you again Karen and Peter. hope you return to enjoy it too! Stayed here with my wife & two boys and had a blast! Very roomy and has all comforts of home - gas grill, hot tub, pots/pans, utensils, coffee maker, etc. The screened in porch was just amazing - to sit out there with a cup of coffee and have your quiet moments before the kids wake up is priceless. Definitely enough space to fit a few families for a joint-venture. Two miles from a freshwater mountain creek where we all played for hours on end (Chickamagua Gorge, Soddy Daisy). 15min to Chattanooga, 20min to Lookout mountain, perfect location. The town of Hixson is a straight shot from the house and has Wal-Mart, Target, Sporting good store, restaurants, etc. It was fantastic and we look forward to coming back again.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

About the owner: We fell in love with the lodge as we went up the drive and knew we had to have it before we even went in the house. We are sure you will love it too.
Why the Owner Chose Chattanooga:
We were amazed that the house is only 10 minutes to Downtown and all the attractions, but it seems a million miles away IT'S SO PEACEFUL.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We are set in a valley and the walk along our road is stunning, it is a valley location with a creek that the children love. Chester Frost State Park is a special place to us for picnics and water sports.
