We just came home from a great vacation at Tunk Lake. Cabin was located right on the peaceful lake, it was comfortable, clean, well stocked with every item for cooking, exploring the lake and touring info. We had a blast Hiking several mountains and kayaking the lake. The kids had a blast on the dock, swimming, catching fish, kayaking and lying on the dock at night to see many falling stars. The view was breathtaking and very relaxing. We enjoyed walking around Bar Harbor and having dinner. I loved the screened in porch with the comfortable chairs for reading and watching the kids. They also had a great time at schonic point (how spell) caught and released crabs, starfish and sea urchins. If your looking to relax and spend time with family this is a great place.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Taylor Camp is the place of holiday dreams. Its location is beautiful and the cabin has everything you need. If you feel the urge to explore, the harbours, forests, beaches and seafood are all worth seeking out but some of us chose not to leave for the whole week. Lazy afternoons on the jetty or on the water merged into starlit evenings listening to the loons. For anyone looking to enjoy the solitude and scenery of Maine from a beautifully appointed cabin, Taylor Camp is ideal-look no further.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

The cabin was really very nice. As we drove in, we wondered if we were in the right place! The location is very remote and secluded. But, in its seclusion, everything is just right. The woods are beautiful. The lake is perhaps the clearest water that we had ever seen. Everything that you would need is covered. The kitchen is well appointed. The beds were very comfortable. The screened in porch was perfect. Everyone had a wonderful time at Taylor Camp. It's a good idea to stop off for provisions on your way into the camp as it is a bit of drive back to the store. There is no real beach at the camp. The rocky shore is nice, but you can only swim from the dock. In all, it was a very nice vacation spot. For a nice day trip, be sure to hit the Jordan Pond House in Acadia National Park. Bunker's Wharf on the Schoodic side is also great for lunch.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are very please that the families who have chosen the Taylor Camp have loved it. If you are interested, i suggest booking as early as the fall before because we usually have returning families who book early.

We are now in our 4th year renting the Taylor Camp. As best as I can tell, our camp has exceeded everyone's expectations. We have been very fortunate to have attracted wonderful families who have taken good care of our cabin. If you are interested in the summer of 2008, I suggest you contact us this fall as we typically have a few families who come back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our week's visit in mid-June 2007 could not have been more delightful. Spotlessly clean cabin with all the comforts of home and panoramic views, through a fragrant pine forest, of beautiful Tunk Lake--not another sign of civilization. It was a stay we will long remember, and are recommending your wonderful vacation home to everyone within earshot. Peaceful, remote, idyllic surroundings in 5-star accommodations. And the lobstah was pretty good, too.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Private, clean, fully stocked and centrally located...four ways to describe this wonderful rental home. Our family of seven thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Taylor Camp. The water was clear, the atmosphere relaxed and our day trips to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park left us with memories we'll cherish the rest of our lives.Did you find this review helpful? We have visited this warm family camp on a yearly basis since '92. My children and I have spent countless hours playing in and around this home in the wilderness. We have enjoyed boatrides to the state maintained sand beaches across the lake and love to check in on the huge beaver dam. We have waterskied, fished, swum and iceboated on beautiful Tunk Lake and look forward to getting back soon!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We had a wonderful week. The Maine woods are among the most lovely in the world, and when you add the nearby rocky coast (Acadia is stunning), the privacy of the Taylor camp, the bald eagles, ospreys, loons and pileated woodpeckers, the kayaks and canoe, the swimming, the sunsets, the more than comfortable cabin -- Tunk Lake gets into your soul quickly and (I strongly suspect) permanently.Did you find this review helpful? This was one of the most wonderful vacations we've had. I've never kayaked until now (by myself at the age of 67). Our two daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren were in paradise. We loved the privacy and seclusion, but also enjoyed day trips out to Acadia and other points of interest. Mostly, we stayed in and enjoyed the activities. The kitchen was well stocked--one of the best! One of our twin 10 year old grandsons caught a large trout that was cleaned, cooked and enjoyed by all. Thanks for a wonderful week. Tunk Lake is beautiful; very few camps on the lake and this cabin very private, cozy, but all the comforts of home. We couldn't have found a better place to spend a week on a lake in Maine.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We loved staying in the Taylor cabin. There was plenty of everything for the 9 of us. The kids (9 yr) had a great time with the kayaks, game room, and clilmbing on the rocks. Beds were comfortable with more than adequate towels and sheets. Kitchen very well equipped. Lake was gorgeous and we loved seeing and looking for wildlife. Only problem-the men in our family are bass fishermen and said they "didn"t know how to fish for salmon and trout" so they spent some time trying other lakes in the area. The waterfront is probably not good for young children-no sandy beach and very rocky. A great place to relax and enjoy nature. Great day trips to Acadia.Did you find this review helpful? We agree with previous comments. The water is extremely clean. The area is very quiet. The loons were friendly, the bald eagle was tolerant of us and the blueberries up high were tasty. Great kitchen knives and BBQ. Screened in porch good for small children, rocky shore not, but the whole lakeshore is this way. Recommend Schoodic Pt. part of Acadia and hiking to Eastern Black Mtn.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The cabin was clean, spacious and comfortable. Tunk Lake is beautiful and very peaceful. This is definitely the place to go to get away from it all. We also enjoyed Acadia Nat'l Park, which is only 45 minutes away.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We just returned from the best vacation week we have ever had. This is a great vacation property with all the Ingredients for the perfect vaction (accomidations, location, great food, lots of activities and piece and quiet). The cabin was great, lots of room and comfortable, the kitchen was better equipped than most homes and the gas BBQ was great, the game loft was geat for puzzels and games for those few rainy hours. Wildlife spottings included deer, moose, loons and ducks of all species. The cabin had a canoe, 2 single kayaks and a double kayak, the lake was great with very limited boating and no jet ski's. Fishing was fair for salmon, we struck out on lakers and brook trout. The camp, looks out at black mountain that makes a great morning hike and blueberry hunt. It is close to many local fine eating establisments (15-20 minutes)but remote enough to be very peacefull. We had 6 guests but the cabin can accomidate 10 with no problem. You can't go wrong renting here. We will be back again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
