We LOVED this place! Just on the edge of wonderful wooded land with some hills right out the door for sledding and beautiful views from big wide windows. The house is so upscale with all the amenities: Beautiful log construction, every kitchen item necessary, games, cooking staples, laundering, even sleds etc. We were there during a big winter storm but the snow plows were always on top of the roads and driveway so access was never a problem (the garage is a must in the snow!). We were close to Northstar skiing and want to come back to try the cross country skiing and Donner Ski resort just down the road. Can't say enough good things about this place!

This was my first VRBO experience and I was a little cautious going into it....This house was more than I imagined. We loved it. The pictures definitely did not do it justice. It was perfect for our family Thanksgiving get together. The kitchen was a delight to work in. So many windows and beautiful views. Rooms/beds were very comfortable and the great room was perfect for reading, and playing games. Loved how it is furnished mixing rustic & antique. The house was very clean and well stocked with all that we needed. We had great snow right outside our door to make snowmen and go sledding. The ski lifts were not operating during our stay but we liked the idea of being able to ski to the lifts from the house. Next time! The owner was very helpful in answering my questions. I would most definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives...already have!

Recently stayed at this amazing house. At first I didn't want to send in a review because I was afraid this place would never be available when I want to rent again. I've rented several other homes in the Tahoe area. This was by far the best. It was so private, clean, well kept and fully functioning every step of the way. The level of detail in each room with make you wish you lived there. Very spacious kitchen with everything you would need to have a great family gathering. The only slight negative or thing to consider which has nothing to do with the physical house was the elevation of the lot. Located high up above Tahoe Donner ski resort. I pulled out my iPhone altimeter app which read roughly 7,300 ft. above sea level in the upstairs bedroom. At this level we found ourselves short of breath, groggy and the kids didn't have much of an appetite. We expected this coming from The Bay Area where we live at 139 ft. Something to consider if you or anyone in your party are uncomfortable with high altitudes. Overall a fantastic home that is worth it.
Owner response:Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Brian. You are correct that the property is at 7,000 ft elevation. The house sits at the same level as the top of the Tahoe Donner Ski resort lift - you can ski to the house for lunch! Happy Holidays!

My family loves coming to this home in all seasons! It's beautiful, romantic, comfortable & child friendly. The beds are very comfortable, the kitchen is a dream to cook in and lounging by the fire with games or a book is the perfect way to end each evening. There is good separation of the bedrooms which makes it very comfortable if you choose to come with another family. We come here to ski and ice skate in the winter and we love coming in the summer too. Swimming, boating and stand-up paddle boarding are fabulous on the lake! The use of the community pool and bocce courts are an added bonus in the summer. We're looking forward to our next trip!

We spent a long weekend at this cabin this summer and had a terrific time. The photos don't do the house justice, it is rustic luxury. There are great hiking paths and mountain biking roads are right outside the door, leading to amazing vistas. The home owner is very easy to work with and went out of her way to make sure our booking was painless and our stay relaxing. We had previously rented this property for a week from its prior owners and enjoyed it so much it made us want to go back. On arrival this summer we were pleasantly surprised that all the things we liked about the house remained, and that the new owner had made some comfortable improvements in some of the furnishings. The kitchen really is a cook's dream. You can have a group in there cooking and have plenty of room to work. For skiiers, this definitely is a ski to the Tahoe Donner Ski Area home. We are already looking forward to returning.

The house is more than one can imagine; has a comfortable feel; the deck with a raised propane firepit, wonderful place to sit around at night to talk; large, cozy kitchen with sun streaming in through the windows in the morning; house filled with fresh baked yummies greeting us each morning; some great memories were definitely made. Our 20 months old grandson's first experiernce with snow right outside the house was toooo precious! Highly recommend dining at The Lodge. Superb! We appreciated the owner's quick response to our questions and quick turnaround time for our deposit refund. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and relatives.

A great spot to come with the family. In the summer we've gone hiking, swimming, kayaking, fishing, horseback riding, and done archery through the Tahoe Donner rec program. In the winter it's sledding in the yard and skiing/snowboarding at Tahoe Donner, a super spot for younger kids since it is smaller and less crowded than other ski areas. Big family meals are easy - my husband and I love the kitchen. Wide selection of DVDs in the loft. Nice selection of family friendly games available too. House is clean and cozy and gorgeous. Owner is helpful. This is our favorite vacation retreat.

We had a wonderful time. Your home is so beautiful! My sisters say that you designed the house yourself. I recently did a significant remodel, but have not decorated yet. Where do you find all of the individual rustic pieces? Also, I really enjoyed looking at the detail of the different beams in the house. The beam that divides the family from the dining area is so captivating! I hope we can come again!

We arrived back in Orange County very late Sunday night, after a fabulous few days in Lake Tahoe. The wedding was beautiful, and we had nice enough weather that the ceremony was outside. Your home is absolutely perfect! We all LOVED it! The kitchen was ideal...even with three of us cooking up a storm! I was thrilled with the large Viking oven, as it handled 4 pies easily at a time (I have the smaller version of it). Not only is the home itself gorgeous, but every single touch, from the furniture to the dishes, was beautiful and and functional. You have fabulous taste and a knack for decorating! Thank you, thank you for sharing your home with us.

We so enjoyed our fall get-away at your beautiful Tahoe Donner home. Excellent hiking was just down the street. We loved cooking and relaxing in the great room, and sunning on the outdoor patio. The home is exquisite, with lovely furnishings throughout, and clean as a whistle. The quiet beauty and starry night skies are lovely. We are so looking forward to our next visit!

My extended family lives throughout California, from one end of the State to the other. We come to Northern Cal reguarly and are always looking for unique places to gather. To celebrate my nephew's graduation from Truckee High School, we rented this property in Tahoe Donner to share as our meeting place. The home was beautifully designed, appointed and located for us. The owners obviously have spend a great deal of time appointing the cabin which made it perfect for our family. The kitche and the deck out back were perfect for our needs. thanks for sharing your home with us. n

My husband and I spent four gloreous nights at the log home and had a wonderful time. The house is lovely with a great kitchen. I love to cook so it was a real treat for me. I've been inspired to re-model my kitchen now. The location is great and you really can just ski out the back door and jump on a trail. The weather was warm but there was still a lot of beautiful snow. We sledded, had snowball fights, roasted marshmellows and I even learned how to ski. Can't wait to go back.

Thank you for letting us use your Tahoe-Donner home. We have a hand crafted house so we really enjoyed your home, We loved the attention to detail, the lodge-like feeling and the use of antiques. Our son skied with his 6 1/2 year old twins to the slopes came back for lunch and back again for afternoon skiing.

What a wonderful place! 8 adults stayed comfortably in this extraordinary winter oasis. With a few cooks in our group, we especially enjoyed the spacious, well-appointed kitchen. Not to mention the beautiful and comfortable bedrooms, and common area, and feeling nestled amidst the trees and hills. Highly recommended!

What an incredibly gorgeous and comfortable home! We have traveled extensively and could not recall a more ideal vacation setting for our family. Not only is this home ideally set up for a family with guests, it came with every amenity we could imagine. With this home, comes access to the Tahoe Donner Association which was awesome and provided a huge range of entertainment options at VERY inexpensive prices. We took advantage of everything from horseback riding, archery, swimming, tennis, bocce ball, lake sports, you name it. In fact, we had everything we wanted and expected of the Sierra's at this vacation home. So much so we never even laid eyes on Lake Tahoe (a 30 minute drive). There was absolutely no reason.

What a beautiful house and location! We thouroughly enjoyed hanging out in the house, hiking from the Glacier Trailhead, watching the deer and the chipmonks, playing at the Donner Lake Beach, climbing on the Trout Rec Playground, eating out on the Lodge patio obove the golf course, and enjoying Lake Tahoe from the Sunnyside patio and beach. Great fried zuchini & burgers there also! We will look forward to a future visit!

Historical kayak tour on Donner Lake was great. Eric was a super guide. Archery range was fun with the kids. Otherwise we spent enjoyable days at the Lake and the pools with a morning horseback ride tossed in. A wonderful week!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home. The kids loved using the perfect snowballers to have a snowball fight in June! Everything was very comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The Monet Irises puzzle was beyond our collective skill level. Today is Marty's 52nd birthday, and this was a lovely way to celebrate. Thank you, from all of us!

What an absolutely stunnig home! The sunrise out the master bedroom is a sight not to be missed (plus it helped get us up in the morning for skiing). Tips for future renters... don't bother getting up extra early to be the first on the slopes. The Sierra Cement (crusty snow) isn't much fun to ski on. Do what the locals do and wait for the sun to soften the snow/ice in late morning/early afternoon. Another tip... Squaw may be expansive + famous, but we adored the slopes of Northstar. The black diamond runs are really intermediate and nice long runs. The best part of the day is returning "home" to Woutje's house and relaxing by the fire! Enjoy!!
