  The property accomodation was wonderful. The Log Cabin met all of our needs. Our long awaited expectation of a great retreat in the mountains was everything it could be. Michael, great job of taking care of your guests. We shall return!

  The Log Cabin was a quaint little place to hideaway and catch up on rest, reading, and reflection. The property was quiet, and others in the area respected ones privacy....except for the fox and a few deer that frequented the area, I went days without making eye contact with anyone! That said the owner, Michael, was really only a shout away if I needed anything. Although it is a small space, it has all that's needed for a getaway. However, if you like to luxuriate in a spacious, bright shower, you might consider a different property. The places you use are well-cleaned, though some of the nooks and crannies of this charming log interior are dusty. Michael willingly accommodated a couple special requests, and it is apparent that much thought went into making the place comfortable. I'd go back again for another personal retreat. The quiet and darkness at night are complete, except for the heat-generating stove in the bedroom which was like sleeping in front of a fireplace; it added to the charm of the place.

We go after the Cob webs everytime a traveler leaves, but it just seams that Old world Log Cabins attract new ones in a days time.   My lady and I spent New Year's weekend at this property. I was actually quite skeptical before arrival as I am not from the area and pretty much picked out of a hat as to which property to rent. I am glad to say we could not have made any better a choice! The cabin is clean, cozy, and perfectly located. Best part of the trip...Approx 10mins away from the mountain top on which it is situated was the most fantastic lake on which we spent our New Years day ice-skating ..... WOW!

  Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was everything the description promised and more. Michael is a professional and thoughtful host. It snowed on Christmas morning and he had the roads ploughed and cleared by 9am. The cabin was clean and well stocked with cooking equipment. A couple of things worth mentioning. 1. If you are taller than 6 foot it might feel cramped as the ceilings are low (I am 5'10' and while it felt cozy it was totally not a problem. 2. The cabin is not only totally remote (what we wanted) but roughly 2,000 feet higher in elevation than Evergreen. My guess is that it is roughly 9,000 feet. If you are coming from Denver the elevation gain isn't that big of a deal. But we live at sea level and the nearly 9,000 gain was a bit much as we both got altitude sickness (headaches, nausea).

  Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

  Owner response: Note to prospective guests; almost all Colorado Vacation venues are at elevations from 8000 to 10,000 ft elevation.. Our Evergreen Colorado Vacation Homes are at 9000 ft elevation. Travelers who think they may have uncomfortable reactions to these elevations might want to consult their health care professional for advise. Our experience tells us that a very small percentage of visitors are affected by Elevation.   We had a quick 2 night stay at Mike's cabin, it was very cozy and we really loved the feel of the bedroom. We are out of towners so the altitude was a challange, the descent to the cabin wasn't as bad as a few reviewers had stated even if we had to stop to catch our breath on the way up.We saw woodpeckers, deer and a fox on our last morning from the deck.We bought steaks to grill the first night and there was no propane left, bit of a bummer but used the broiler inside.All in all it was a good experience

• Colorado Cute

  We always stay at another property of MIcheal's where company comes up to visit us often. This time because everyone has been there before and love Micheals location we ended up with more friends than beds. We quickly made arrangements for the Log Cabin to handle the overflow for 2 nights. What a great place. Most of the cabin looks to be an original Log Cabin with a later addition for a bedroom. Anyway it is great view from the bed in the downstairs bedroom leaving little motivation to get up. Our family and friends who stayed there absolutely fell in love with it and think we are heroes. Our friends were able to hike up and down the mountain from the cabin to visit us. The place is without a doubt Colorado Cute. On the second night a friends 8 year old girl spent the night there and absolutely loved the ladder to the loft and comfy bed. She drifted off to sleep listening to the "adults" play card games and converse late into the night below.

  We came to this cabin to enjoy a little time away from the city. We had enough time to spend a long weekend (3 nights) and it was such a great place to hang out and just enjoy the solitude of the woods. We were not disappointed with any aspect of our stay and Michael is a pleasure to deal with! In fact, we wished we could have stayed a few more nights. It was also great that we were able to bring our doggie and allow him to rekindle his canine spirit. A great place to relax, watch wildlife and enjoy outdoor activities. Highly recommended!!   The cabin was very nice; large bedroom, good amenities, overall good space. The quiet, isolated location was very good, but the drive was a bit far from Evergreen, and included treacherous dirt roads for the average car. Privacy in the bathroom was nearly non-existent---no door, only a swinging half door. We recommend a more permanent door be installed for privacy. Overall, the experience was extremely positive. If you are looking for mountain living, this will fill the bill. We saw Elk, fox, deer, and various other smaller wildlife right from the deck.

Propsective guests please note; All of our 8 VRBO Vacation Homes listings clearly explain our location to be 8 miles west from Downtown Evergreen-a short beautiful 15 minute drive thru a spectacular Rocky Mountain Canyon; If this distance is a "Bit Far" as described in the above guest review, you may want to find a Evergreen Colorado Lodging Option that is closer to Downtown Evergreen and does not advertise, as we do, "Secluded in a Wilderness Setting with Privacy On a Dead End Road" The short 1 and 1/4 mile access, well maintained, public 2 lane County dirt road is certainly different from a suburban paved subdivision, but is no where near the description of "Trecherous", as decribed in the above review.. Any 2 wheel Drive Car works just fine in Summer months and we only recommend All-Wheel-Drive for all Colorado Driving during the winter Snow Conditions. We will not be changing the door to the Bathroom as privacy to that area of the home would only be compromised if a person purposely stood at the Bath door and gazed over the top of that door into the bath area while in use by another.   What a great place to stay! If you like being in the mountains, wildlife sightings (fox, deer, elk, etc.), solitude and relaxation, then this is the place for you. The drive up the mountain is beautiful. Being from a hot climate, we appreciated the cool weather in May at 9000 ft. The cabin is an authentic log cabin but comfortable with modern amenities--a great combo! Michael is wonderful to work with and seems to care that your stay in his cabin is memorable (good memories, of course!). Definitely a place we would stay in again, only longer next time.
