My daughter (14years old) and I just spent a long weekend at this cabin and absolutely loved it! I have stayed in many cabins in the Pacwood area; some were larger and a couple were very high-end and I've got to say this one ranks at the top of my list! The owners were easy to work with and when we arrived, everything was as they said it would be. The cabin itself was extremely clean, very cozy, very well equipped in all areas, and had everything we needed to cook simple meals. The setting was so tranquil and beautiful, completely conducive to lowering one's blood pressure. :-) One night we built a fire in the fire pit and listened to the night sounds. There were no street signs and bright lights, no city nighttime haze which meant it got very dark at night, the sky was clear and we were able to see an abundance of bright stars. The cabin felt secluded and yet it was still close (9 minutes) to a grocery store and a couple of restaurants. I can't say enough good things about the cabin. What's more impressive is when I asked my daughter what she would add or change she said "Nothing, it's perfect." Pretty high praise from a 14-year-old girl :-) We will go back!!

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We came here to celebrate our 30th and 31st birthday! This is our second visit. The first time we visited was five years ago when we were just dating!! Now we are married with a two-year-old daughter Cowlitz River cabins will always be our special place!!

Great Sisters Getaway!

Me and my two Sisters Loved the cozy feel of this cabin. We hiked all day, then soaked the soreness away in the hot tub. Highly recommend this location for anyone wanting a relaxing break from city life!

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

(This was a thank you note sent to us by mail) Bill & Tricia This was our families best reunion ever! What a beautiful setting for all the cabins and all of the surroundings. The youngsters had many good places to play their games. We all enjoyed ourselves very much. Then to pool our resources for meals, we had the pleasure of eating them all at the outdoor covered kitchen area with the protection in case of bad weather, which we never had!!! So thanks a million for all your thoughtfulness and making it so much fun for the whole big group and so easy for 90-year olds to enjoy. Vivian W.

Rather disappointing

We were not very happy about our stay. The website indicates that the river is right in front of the cabin, but while it's fairly close, you can't see the river and you can't really get to it either. There is a path with signs that leads down to the river, but this path ends in some mud on a small side stream, but the river is not really accessible. Another guest in a nearby cabin was equaly disappointed. Additionally, the website indicates TV as available but it was not connected. The dryer was out of order. And the mosquitos were so bad in the evening that one could not be outside for more than a minute. The little patio with a picnic table is located right next to the house near the driveway with minimal privacy so it's not especially inviting. I don't mean to be overly negative, though. The house was clean and the little vegetable garden was pleasant. But if you're looking for a river experience, this is not it.

Owner response: We are sorry that your stay was not as you expected. Please let me respond in order of your issues. 1. Our website indicates that the cabin is on the Cowlitz River, which it is. There is a trail that leads down to the river. The river has a way of changing every year and this past year was no exception. Mother nature put a stream between the bank and the river which made it difficult to get across. A few weeks back, we put a temporary bridge across this stream for easier access to the river itself. 2. Yes, there is usually mud where there is a river bank 3. The TV is definitely connected and available for our guests. We provide DISH Satellite TV in every cabin we rent. Why you were unable to get your TV to work is still a mystery. 4. The dryer was indeed out of order during your stay, something that happens occasionally to appliances – but has since been replaced. 5. We like to think of the little patio/BBQ area next to the cabin as quaint and intimate and certainly more private than many other cabins in this area that are right in the town itself. 6. Mosquitoes – what can I say about those pesky varmints. I promise you, they were not invited. 7. You mentioned our little vegetable garden. Our vegetable garden is actually quite large at 50 feet x 50 feet and is often the highlight of our summer & fall guests. We appreciate your comments though and taking the time to contact us. Lovely weekend getaway for our family

My husband, our four-year-old daughter, and I spent a pleasant night here in July. The cabin is adorable, clean, and very comfortable. Our daughter loved the "bunk" beds and we loved the hot tub right outside. All three of us enjoyed snacking in the vegetable garden, and the BBQ and firepit were great as well. The A/C unit was also appreciated. We had few issues with mosquitos unless we wandered down towards the river. The only thing we wished for was a way to cross the river and explore the sandy strip on the other shore.

Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway.

GOOD MORNING!!! I JUST WANTED TO DROP A NOTE TO THANK YOU BOTH FOR SHARING YOUR LITTLE SLICE OF HEAVEN. WE WERE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO SEE A SMALL ELK HERD WITH A 3 POINT BULL IN TOW. WE SAW EAGLES AND A DEER THAT BID US GOOD BYE. YOU ALSO HAVE A RESIDENT MOUSE IN THE LAUNDRY/ BATHROOM. WE'VE DECIDED WE WOULD LIKE TO VISIT AGAIN. MY GRANDDAUGHTER ESPECIALLY LIKED THE HOT TUB AND THE CAMPFIRE. GRANDSON LOVED THE LOFT AND THE HIKING. I LOVED ALL OF IT. VERY THERAPUTIC. THANKS AGAIN... "L"

Tricia & Bill, Steven and I had such a great time at the cabin this weekend. Spent 2 or 3 hours sitting down at the river on Sat. afternoon with some lunch. Saturday night we were able to sit in the hot tub and had a clear sky to stare at the stars. We watched a few DVD's and just thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank-you. Nedda

Dear Bill and Tricia: What a wonderful stay we had at your beautiful piece of Heaven. We were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary. Both of us agree that we could not have found a better place to enjoy it. Everything about the cabin was great. You have it furnished and decorated very nice. Hope to come another time to enjoy. Absolutely lovely accommodations!! Great for a family!! We had a wonderful time discovering each Christmas decoration you had - tasteful and fun. Excellent music & video libraries! The propane stove, window views, cozy hot tub, bunker beds and especially snow falling on the slanted window in the kitchen delighted us. We had a refreshing family time. You have lovely property and have built amazing homes!!!! Thank you

We had the pleasure of staying at Bill and Trish's cabin for two nights in August. It was our 12 year old twins birthday party and we wanted to do something different and special for them. This ended up being their favorite birthday ever! They played in the river, fished in the pond, went on walks, sat in the hot tub, roasted smores, and wound down the evening eating popcorn and watching a movie. It was a birthday they will never forget! Thank you Trish and Bill for your hospitality and for sharing your beatiful cabin with us.

We were looking for a quiet,peaceful cabin. We found much more--this is a beautiful,clean,comfortable and spacious cabin. There were caring touches such as fresh fruit in a basket, and microwave popcorn available. There was a portable stereo with numerous relaxing CD's.
