This darling three bedroom home sits in the historical city of Bedford, VA. Antique hunters and history buffs, this is the place for you. Love the outdoors? Make this darling house your home base away from home as you hike, bike and sightsee in the surrounding areas.

Sit on the front porch and experience Southern hospitality at its best or Entertain inthe lovely Carriage house Patio Room out back. Love watersports? Smith Mountain Lake is a 20 minute drive away. Smith Mountain Lake is a 55,000 acre lake with over 500 miles of shoreline. Washington DC is only 3 1/2 hours away.

DINING SPACE: Seats 10 people

OUTSIDE ENTERTAINMENT: Plenty of yard space with gas grill to host friends for an afternoon cookout.

FISHING: On the town pond behind the house. Pond is stocked every year.

SIGHT SEEING: If you like history, visit the D-Day Memorial, Point of Honor, Poplar Forest - the summer estate of Thomas Jefferson, Appomatox, Peaks of Otter, Discovery Park and for a day trip, visit the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway.

The cities of Roanoke and Lynchburg are just 30 minutes away. 10 - 15 minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Special Notes:

1. *DEPOSIT: PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY*

Security deposit is equal to 1/2 of the rental amount or $500, which ever is least.

Entire security deposit, and 1/2 of the rental fee, is required to secure the dates requested. Deposit is required within 48 hours of confirmation to hold dates. Full rental fee is required no later than 45 days prior to requested rental dates. Unless otherwise agreed upon by owner and renter, if full rental fee has not been paid 45 days prior to rental date, owner may keep all monies paid and cancel rental date. PLEASE CALL if you have circumstances which will delay full payment.


IMPORTANT! Cash security deposit will be remitted by company check within 14 days of departure date if there are no damages. Credit Card Refunds are remitted within 14 days. The amount of time for financial establishments to make the credit varies so please check with your bank if the refund does not show on your card within 14 business days.

Upon Rental Request, the renter will receive an invoice enabling them to pay by credit card through PAYPAL a secure third party online service. If you prefer to pay by check, please email your intent. Dates will be held upon receiving and clearing of your check. Please remember to send remaining amount no later than 45 days prior to rental date to ensure check will clear.

2. ACCESS TO LIBERTY UNIVERSITY: The house is less than 5 minutes from the highway 460 access. Highway 460 runs directly to the campus. Door to door, the distance is less than 25 minutes from the cottage to the campus.

3. ACCESS TO other colleges in the area, ask me. I will gladly assist. I do have friends who own furnished rental properties around Bedford and Lynchburg. I will gladly refer you to them if the Ashland house is booked.

4. CANCELLATION!!! CANCELLATION MUST BE RECEIVED IN WRITING 45 DAYS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL DATE. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF ALL MONIES PAID.

  • A beautiful home! We were very lucky to be able to stay at this cozy, beautifully decorated and peaceful home during my daughters graduation from Liberty University. We had a family gathering after graduation and felt as if we were at home. The house is extremely clean and everything you need is there. The decorating is amazing and well done. This home just added a little extra to our special memory.

  • Americana at it's best! I felt as if we were vacationing on Main Street, USA. What a great alternative to a hotel/motel stay. The house decor is cozy and warm. It's a place where the neighbors still offer a friendly wave, but you have total privacy. Your will leave the home with a peaceful, rested feeling.

  • My husband, little boy and I enjoyed a wonderful one-night stay here recently and loved it! The owner accommodated our every need with the house's gorgeous kitchen, fireplace, and lovely bedrooms. She has utilized this space in a way that makes use of every unique nook and cranny. I think she should be giving decorating lessons to those of us who are lucky enough to spend some time in Bedford at this property.
