Owner's Profile
Owner Description
My husband and I love the beach. Having visited throughout the coastal areas of Florida we selected Alligator Point as our favorite beach location. Unlike other beach areas, Alligator Point is not loaded down with hotels, motels, and condos. Except for the marina and adjacent "Tiki," which is an on-the-bay bar/restaurant, Alligator Point has no commercial development. It is strictly a family beach. You will not be locked down in traffic jams, horns blowing, or bothered by noisy beer joints.
Why the Owner Chose Alligator Point
First of all, this house sat right on the beach - not a mile away or in sight of the beach or close but ON THE BEACH! There are no motels or strip malls cluttering up the area. This property had one of the highest elevations on Alligator Point which affords it increased protection in the event of a hurricane. Very important was the fact that it was one of the choice properties on Alligator Point in that it had the Gulf in the front yard and the bay in the backyard.
The Unique Benefits of this House
One of the biggest thrills is to be away from the awful traffic jams in Atlanta. It's really a joy to go out your front door, walk down the boardwalk to the beach, breathe that fresh salt air, sit in a beach chair and read a book, take a walk on a beautiful sandy beach or simply exude with nature at its best.

My friend, her niece, my son and his two buddies stayed here the week of Jul 23-30th and we really had a wonderful time. It is so quiet on the point and we found tons of sea creatures on the beach, jellyfish, sand dollars by the handfuls, and the views are amazing! We visited Wakulla Springs one day and then hit St. George Island another...the rest of the time we spent just hanging on this beautiful back porch and playing on rafts in the water. We bought an inflatable boat raft and hooked all the other rafts to it, stayed on the water all day! What a blast we had. I loved that there was no traffic or other obstructions and we loved Sabrina, our server over at Posey's! Thanks for the most relaxation I have had in a long time!

Dear Mr and Mrs Haughton, Just wanted to let know that we had the best vacation I can remember for a long time. The house was perfect for our group and such a nice secluded place away from commercial attraction. We enjoyed what we did see Wakulla Springs, St.George Island and the aquarium in Panecea. Dale and Brad loved the golf course. And we loved the beach and the grandchildren couldn't get enough of the sea shells and swimming. The best time was had by all. It will always be in our hearts.Thank you for providing us with an excelant place to stay, just like being at home.My grandson kept saying (that is our house and we aren't leaving) Hope it was left in perfect condition for the next renters to enjoy.

There were 4 of us that stayed at the beach house from 5-14-2011 till 5-22-2011. We were supposed to leave on the 21st, but just couldn't do it, so the owners made it easy for us to extend our stay one more day. Everything is as it says on the website. House is very clean, with everything you would need supplied. Plenty of beach chairs. Porch is a very comfortable place to sit. Even though the temperature was in the 80's and 90's we did not need the AC. Wonderful breeze all the time. Good food at Poseys, The Coastal, Tiki bar at marina. We went to Alligator Point to do some birding and we were not disappointed. Plenty of places to find lots of birds. We definitely plan on going back.

We took our 3 grandchildren down to Alligator Point for the first time in July 2010. They had the best time in the water and collecting shells, taking walks and just spending time together. The beach is on a sand bar so it was no more than 5 feet deep and that really gave the kids a comfort in the water. The weather was incredible and we truly enjoyed a very relaxing week in this home. The things provided at the house made it easy for the kids to find something to play in the water. We want to return with the kids next summer. Oh, don't forget to pick up some fresh shrimp and oysters too, they were incredible....

We have enjoyed our month in your house tremendously. The house is just perfect for us -- the beautiful location, the beautiful beach, the solitude, the floor plan of the house with its great French doors and wide screened porch. We loved the openness of the house and greatly appreciated all the special touches, such as supplies all ready for us, the internet connection, availability of a printer, pencils, paper, books, games, puzzles, baby booster chair (for our granddaughter's visit.) We would love to come here again if our schedule allows it next year. We tried most of the restaurants you recommended, with many repeat visits to Posey's. We went to Angelo's, the Coastal, Hamaknocker's, and Boss Oyster in Appalachicola. We also frequented My Way Seafood. Everything was delicious! Your home was well set up, with a lot of extras, and it was like being a guest rather than a renter. We also loved the absolutely charming town of Panacea with its good restaurants and the Otter Lake recreation area and hiking trails. Thank you for a wonderful, relaxing month.

We absolutely loved the house and had a great time staying there! Having chairs and floats and the grill was very nice. We have never stayed anywhere like that. That was the first time we have gotten to go on vacation with my parents in several years. It was long overdue! We really liked the outside shower. Thanks very much for letting us use your beach house! We had a great time, and would love to go back and stay in your house!

What a wonderful place to forget about the rest of the world! I ended up going on this vacation alone due to last minute conflicts with other family scheduled. This will be a priceless vacation for me. I loved not having a clock or anyone to have to answer to. I read 5 books, soaked up the sun and walked the beached daily. The house is beautifully remodeled. I loved spending time on the porch. Didn't have to use the AC due to wonderful breezes from both waterfronts. Beautiful moonlight over the ocean. Normal beach rainstorms that were exciting to watch. Watched 15 pelicans hunting and feeding one morning from the porch. Dolphins almost everyday. Will go back.

We stayed in Beachfront Paradise May 9-16, 2009 and loved it! It appeared to have been remodeled recently and was perfect for our group. The master suite was beautiful and you are able to leave the doors open to listen to the ocean all night. The guest bedrooms each had 2 twins each so everyone had their own bed to sleep in. It has an unbelievable back porch that is completely screened so you are able to chill out and relax with the cool breeze off the ocean. The Gulf is right off the back porch and the bay is right off the front porch! The best part is the Haughtons themselves. Good people who go out of their way to make sure you have a good time. I give my highest recommendation to stay at Beachfront Paradise!!!!!!!!

My family of five (kids 18, 7 and 5) stayed in this home for one week during April. In our view, this is a terrific home in a wonderful location. My wife and I spent much time on VRBO trying to find the right spot on the Gulf for our Spring Break trip. We made the right choice. First, and most importantly, the beach at Alligator Point has a very natural and undisturbed quality about it - lots of shelling and critter hunting with the kids. During our stay we saw dolphins, jellyfish, pelicans and even a bald eagle. The beach was never crowded and most days it was completely deserted. As for the house itself, we found it to be just the right size for our family. The master bedroom suite is large and roomy, with a double-sink vanity in the bathroom and a walk in closet with a window. The other two bedrooms are a bit on the small size, but none of the kids spent much time in them anyway. They had no trouble falling asleep after a long day playing on the beach, so I would say they are perfect. The best part of the house are the three sets of large french doors that open up onto the screened-in porch. There was nothing better than opening them up and enjoying the sights and sounds of the Gulf. The porch also allowed us to monitor the kids playing on the beach while we were inside making dinner or having a glass of wine. A few of the other house amenities that we enjoyed were the beach toys/rafts, DSL high-speed Internet access, DirectTV in three rooms (two bedrooms and the family room), filtered water and ice-maker in the fridge, and pleasing beachy (but not overdone) decor. It is obvious that the home was recently renovated and the owners' attention to detail shows. This review would not be complete without briefly commenting about our interactions with the owners. Booking vacations like these can leave you apprehensive and wondering what you are going to find when you get there. This was our first experience booking a VRBO home and we were a little anxious about how it would all turn out. Needless to say, we had a wonderful experience with the owners and we found our communications with them to be comforting and reassuring. Every email we sent or phone we made was promptly returned. Even their recommendations on restaurants, where to find fresh seafood and local diversions proved to be terrific. We had a wonderful stay in this home and have no reservations about recommending it to others. Reserve with confidence and then enjo
