Location: Kernville, Lake Isabella, Gold Country & High Sierra, California, USA (45 minutes from Bakersfield)
Accommodations: Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4)
Keywords: Cabin
This historic cabin is located on the banks of the Wild and Scenic Kern River. It's a peaceful escape, located in the diverse ecosystem of the Kern River Valley, worlds away from the big city.
The cabin, built in 1952 from local Kernville brick, is situated on one-half acre of riverfront property. From the backyard you can see the river and a short nature trail leads to Bubbles Beach, a quiet eddy with sandy shores, ideal for fishing and picnicking. The interior of the cabin is simple, but comfortable and the ambiance is completed by antique furnishings and paintings of the Sierra.
The town of Kernville, located three miles down the road, is a recreational center with outfitters for rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, mountain biking, and fly fishing. It has a small town atmosphere with restaurants, antique stores, a historic museum and riverside park where you can watch kayakers at play. This area is the gateway to the Sequoia National Forest, home of the Needles climbing area and the Forks of the Kern.
There are two options for visitors. Before your departure, clean the cabin (small and simple) for the price listed, or pay an additional fee for cleaning service.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2000
I'm a designer for an outdoor clothing company located in Ventura. I love to rock climb, kayak on rivers, ski and mountain bike.
Why the Owner Chose Kernville
I've been kayaking Kernville since 1990 and enjoy the river environment and the community. Ten years algo, this little cabin was for sale with its' unique location right on the river. It was in terrible shape, but all it needed was some tender loving care. It's completely restored now and brings me much joy.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
The river sounds wonderful and the views of mountains are stunning. It's great to hike, swim and kayak from the back door. I love being outside on the trails, skiing, hiking and climbing, exploring antique stores in town and seeing friends at the Brew Pub!
