Drummond Island house description
The historic Stone House offers the solitude that many seek. Situated at the end of a private drive on 45 acres of woodland, this home is a perfect place for a large family or a corporate retreat. With 1300 feet of water frontage, a sandy beach and a large dock you will be able to enjoy your private oasis. Access to Lake Huron can be easily made from the protected Scammon Cove.
This 1914 home was built by a wealthy lumber baron who settled this area of the island. This home boasts two fireplaces on the main floor and one in the upstairs master bedroom, has a full kitchen.
This piece of history provides you a chance to get back to nature and slow to the pace of Drummond Island. Access to the island can be gained by a year around ferry system or our paved airport.
Drummond Island is a place you will fall in love with. The Stone House will make this a vacation/retreat to remember.

Second Time Around
Second Time Around
This was our second stay at the Stone House. It is quiet, secluded, and enchanting. With 17 of us, we had lots of room to spread out. Our family enjoys playing games, catching up, family crafts, and jig saw puzzles and Drummond Island and the Stone House is perfect.

What a magical place! The house is so charming and has tons of character. The setting could not be more beautiful and the whole family had a wonderful time! We had twelve people in our group, so there was plenty of space to spread out and relax. We will definitely be back here again!

If you are looking for a quiet peaceful place to lay back and relax, this is the place. I loved it and would return. With eight bedrooms we had more than enough room to stretch out. The kitchen looks small but is very well organized and well laid out; besides who wants to spend the whole time in the kitchen when on vacation anyway! The views from the large living room windows are spectacular. The sunset is amazingly beautiful. The whole family enjoyed the beach, campfire and nightly "Some Mores". This is the place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We didn't watch TV but kept in touch with the outside world by Internet (service provided). The property was clean, well-kept and the property owner was very helpful and just a call away. I would most certainly recommend this location. As for local activities, we didn't explore too much, just enjoyed family time.

We stayed the last week of July - 2010. The home and property is MADE for extended family gatherings. We enjoyed every aspect of our week. Scammon Cove is a great area for snorkeling, the old lumber mill site was awesome. What we are going to do with the waterlogged old cuttings is beyond me, but they were cool at the time! Gaylon did a great job in making sure our stay was comfortable and all was going well. The free fire wood was another great treat. I believe we went through about a cord! We would highly recomend this property and plan on returning.
