Kaua'i dream on Moloa'a Bay

Staying in this home was a Kaua'i dream come true. We loved our week at this natural and very relaxing Moloa'a Bay home! Beautifully decorated with awesome plantings around the place; we felt like we were in our own private botanical garden. The big screened windows really brought the outdoors to the indoors. We spent many relaxed hours on the lanai and at the nearby beach. It is also close to many other secluded beaches which we loved exploring. The kitchen is quite simple, though perfect for cooking simple dishes and eating lots of fruit and BBQ fish. We loved the geckos, the many original oil paintings, and Bali furnishings. I would love to stay here again and I will recommend this home to our friends.

Our first time to Kauai and just love this place. It's perfect for two people that want to get away and relax. The cottage is very secluded and private, just like what the listing says. The cottage living room and bedroom are very comfortable and unique. The beach is within walking distance and we could hear the waves at night. One of our favorite things was to sit on the porch and listen to the wildlife. We used the BBQ and grilled fresh fish from the local market almost every night. I would recommend this place for people that are easy going and don't mind the geckos watching you as you drink your Mai Tai on the deck.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Make sure this is the place for your tastes.

A very charming spot on a beautiful property with equally charming owners, who are delightful and very helpful, as Mike helped me get our car out of the mud with the most simple of solutions. If you are not familiar with the tropics and all that goes with it, you might want to do the research first. Our weather happened to be very rainy - all unpaved roads turned to mud, huge puddles, etc. but that's OK. The wet weather hatched something and some people are just more prone to attracting mosquitos or tiny biting bugs, and there were a lot here. There is a stream nearby, and not a lot of wind, so that combination can keep the bugs very happy. We used the bug spray and for one of us it worked, but not for the other. The beach is gorgeous, and if not muddied out, a trail off the west end of the beach has outstanding views. In the dry season this is probably shangri-la, but for us it just did not work out. Also note - very small and limited kitchen facility - dorm -sized refrigerator and a two burner hotplate, toaster oven and microwave. It's either all you need or you might find yourself moving the hotplate to prepare the salad and testing your one pot meal creativity! Or, go to town and eat out. There are many amazing spots nearby, so make sure to explore. We were lucky enough to get a private tour of the albatross nesting area at the lighthouse that was amazing. Also, not complaining, but remember the Kauai County bird is everywhere on the island - the feral chicken. Roosters will start in at 4:30 am for hours, and they are likely to turn on the crowing anytime at night. They kind of talk to each other across the valley and it is funny, if you are amused by crazy chickens. To me their cockadoodledoo sounds like "Happy Birthday to You", or so I imagined so I could find some zen in their craziness. Stoopid Chikens, says the local T shirt. Yup.

First time to the Island of Kauai and I know I will be back. If you are looking for privacy, beauty and a quite rest this is the place to go. The cottage was quite and comfortable with beautiful Balinese furnishings. A nice short walk to a secluded beach (or you can drive if your really tired). Owners Cheryl and Mike are friendly and very helpful. A couple miles down the road is a wonderful fruit and sandwich shop with a great veggi sushi. If your looking for a little shopping the town of Kapaa is just down the road and has some nice restaurants and bars. If you go north you can get a peek at the awesome Na Pali coast or just kick back on your own porch and enjoy the beauty in your private yard.
