A Hundred Thousand Welcomes Ciad Mille Failte: A traditional Gaelic phrase.
Our modern, two bedroom family owned cottage is located in a small and quiet summer community called Jimtown on St George's Bay, Antigonish County, Nova Scotia (two hours from Halifax). Jimtown cottages all have names, and ours is "Dunrovin," so named by Dad, who "was done roving" and content to spend retirement in this peaceful and picturesque beach haven.
Available late May to late October, the area offers beautiful beaches and the warmest waters in the Northumberland Strait. For nature lovers, water lovers, and those looking for serenity, this is the place. Swim, sail, fish, golf, hike or sit under the oak tree that shades the deck. A nap in the sunroom is also recommended.
A private beach is only a short two-minute walk away -take note of the eagles, herons, cranes, and loons that inhabit this seashore. Watch the sunrise over the Cape Breton coastline from the Canso Strait to Port Hood Islands. On occasion you may even see schools of mackerel, blackfish and pods of pilot whales move through the calm waters of St George's Bay.
Two boat marinas, and numerous fishing villages are located within five miles; town is ten miles (seafood restaurants, groceries, shopping, theatre), with Halifax and the Cape Breton Cabot Trail within 100 miles each. Many local festivals and events are available during this time period.
We are sure you find this idyllic piece of Nova Scotia the paradise that our family does. A Hundred Thousand Welcomes-Ciad Mille Failte. |
