It's all about expectations. It is not a high end place but has functional apartments. This place is a place to stay for a good price with a convenient location. It is a close walk to the subway, grocery store and restaurants. My only complaint is that it could use a good clean - sorry, but it felt dirty.
Owner response:So sorry to hear the complaints- It is always better for a guest to talk with us directly -We are always open to addressing your concerns while you are here- not much can do after you leave. Some times it is a simple thing like a new house cleaner who has not learned the ropes and we can always bring someone else in to correct the problem. Please let us know while you are here if something is amiss.

Yana was a wonderful hostess. My mother joined me on a recent trip to Toronto so we decided to extend the trip through the weekend and stay at this lovely apartment. We were within walking distance to great shops and cafes as well as public transportation. I would recommend this location and will stay there again should I have another opportunity to visit Toronto.

I've stayed here several times while visiting Toronto. Our hostess Yana, has always been most gracious and helpful. Good accommodations in an excellent location for a reasonable price. Close to downtown, subway/transit and restaurants. Comfortable, quaint rooms were exactly the home base we needed to come back to while doing business or at a weekend event.

We enjoyed our stay at the Shaw street apartment. It was close to everything-in fact walking distance to a wonderful neighborhood full of food and shops. The neighborhood was clean and safte. In addition, Yana was extremely helpful with tips on where to go and even bought a parking pass for us! I recommend that you stay there when in Toronto.

We spent a week here ( myself, husband and 3 year old son) in the King Suite apartment. Yana is lovely and warm and friendly. The unit is cosy and home like. It is in a good location and very quite and peaceful (we had just flown in from a week in New York so it was a nice space to relax) and you really get a taste of living in Toronto. It’s a short walk to Little Italy and the markets and is close to some of the best Indian food we have ever had. The unit contains a full kitchen – though some of the pots and pans need updating. The bed was comfortable and it was a lovely little spot to unwind and relax after a day of sight seeing. I doubt you could find better value anywhere else. One of our favourite memories of the trip was when we arrived form NY and we were completely exhausted, Yana took us to our room, she had the blinds drawn, fans on, lovely soft music playing and we collapsed onto the bed and fell asleep – these little things capture how welcoming Yana is as a host. A great spot to stay.

I have stayed a number of times at Shaw Street Guest Suites. My longest stay was one month usually I stay a week, the location is particularly convenient for me.The owner is always welcoming. street parking is convenient and I enjoy the flexibility of eating in the units or eating out. The area is quiet and safe, the beds are very comfortable and I sleep well.

My wife and I needed a centrally located place to stay after our return from Peru and from which to look for a new apartment. We decided on Yana’s Shaw Street Guest Suite because of its location and because she kept us informed through emails about potential issues such as the possibility of noise from a newborn baby in the apartment below. Nevertheless, we chose to stay in the upper unit and never heard the newborn child. Yana’s son was also very helpful. He assisted my wife in setting up her internet and with a problem between Outlook and Sympatico. All in all we stayed two weeks in March 2010. The place was exactly what we needed and it was competitively priced. If you are looking for basic living accommodations in a fairly upscale area with most amenities within walking distance, this is the place. There were minor issues that were shared directly with Yana that did not distract from our experience. Ultimately it is all about expectations. Shaw Guest Suites offers some of the comforts of home not a 5-Star luxury hotel! If you are looking for that home-like feel and a warm and attentive hostess Shaw Street Guest Suites is the place to try.

My friend and I stayed at Yana's for 10 days. The place was quiet and practical. It had a great location and all the commodities of a your own home. The neighborhood was safe and Yana was very hospitable. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an affordable stay in a safe neighborhood with good location.

My friend and I stayed at Shaw Street during July 2008. The place was unique, cute, and comfortable. The location was amazing, perfect for walking to the bus stop and subway. The neighborhood is quiet and lovely but close enough to Bloor West and plenty of great things to do. I loved the apartment, Toronto, and the whole experience. Yana is great, and I would absolutely stay here again!

This vacation rental apartment is a great option for anyone who is looking for an economical stay in Toronto. It is centrally located and public transit is close by. Also, there is a grocery store a couple of blocks away and being able to prepare your own meals in the fully equipped kitchenette is a big money saver. It was a particularly good option for me as I suffer from Celiac Disease and often have difficulty finding restaurants that can cater to my needs. Preparing my own meals ensured that I did not become sick from inadvertently eating gluten.

It was perfectly suited for access to the city, and having a park within walking distance was a great asset for my two sons. We enjoyed many evening walks in the quiet neighborhood. I found Yana to be very accomodating to our needs. She was friendly and personable, wihout being overly inquisitive. We hope to return this summer for a few shorter stays.Janet-Lynne Durnford

My wife and I stayed here. The owner Yana was very helpful and accomodating to us. We were made to feel right at home. We also liked the apartment feel rather than being in an ordinary hotel room. We had a kithcen equipped with cookware, and a refrigerator/freezer. It's nice to have the ability to have a homecooked meal when you are on the road. There is also a very nice Sorby's grocery store within walking distance. The place is on a residential street and the neighborhood was charming. Greg
