My partner and I spent the weekend at Vanessa's wonderful cabin and could not have had a better experience! The cabin was clean, well maintained and cozy. It really feels like Tahoe "cabin" should. We didn't have a whole lot of snow and ended up staying at the cabin all weekend snuggled up in front of the fire and hanging out in the hot tub. It was perfect. We can't wait to go back again! The kitchen has everything you will need and a fabulous new gas stove ! The bedrooms are spacious and very comfortable. You really can't ask for more...we loved it!

Clean, neat, well-taken care of and loved. The cabin is awesome! The hot tub! The location! Totally had a blast. On a quiet street. The place is insanely dog friendly and was perfect for our group. Tons of space and kitchen is fab. Do book, and you won't be let down. The owners are amazing as well - friendly, helpful and welcoming. Very accommodating! Thanks and we will be back for sure!

Having just returned from a wonderful weekend in Lake Tahoe, we cannot say enough good things about this cabin. Our party consisted of two families with two kids each ages 9 and 7 and our labradoodle pup. The cabin is set up perfect with two masters for the adults and a wonderful kids room that sleeps four children comfortably. For eight people it was cozy but never felt crowded. The cabin is in a little neighborhood, but yet has a very private feeling to it. The kitchen has everything you need and is actually more spacious than it appears in the photos. The jacuzzi was a wonderful way to relax and warm up after a day of skiing. No need to bring your sleeping bags, the beds and bed linens could not have been more warm and comfortable. We skied at Homewood which was less than 10 minutes away. It was perfect for our beginner children skiers and also fun for the adults and no lines. We enjoyed one night out at Sunnyside restaurant that was only a 4 minute drive. Even though the home is "dog friendly" there is no sign or smell that a dog had been there before us. We loved the fenced in back yard where the dog and kids could safely play for hours in the snow. We couldn't recommend it more for a winter getaway and we are looking forward to checking it out this summer!

This cabin is just what we were looking for. Easy to find and in a quiet neighborhood up the hill from the main highway. I like that it sits back a little bit from the driveway entry so there is room for more than one vehicle to park. Cabin was very clean and cozy. Hot tub was a nice treat as well. Bedrooms were nice and comfy and of good size. Although we didnt use the laundry machines, I thought it was nice to have if we were skiing and needed to dry our clothes or something. I would recommend this cabin to anyone wanting a nice, relaxing get away.

Our stay included 8 nights over the summer with kids, dogs – Shady Lane was an instant hit! You are a quick walk to the lake where dogs are welcome and quite frankly you avoid the crowds of many of the busier beaches. The location is awesome - you are less than 30 minutes from Emerald Bay area hiking, not too far from South Lake for fishing/gambling, and because you are just a bit south of Sunnyside, you don't get all the insane traffic. Being close to Tahoe City means taking advantage of the restaurants and amenities without having to fight too many of the summer crowds. The neighborhood is quiet (yes, even in the crazy summer months), and of course you need only walk down to the main road to access the bike/running path that takes you past any number of local parks on days not spent at the beach (think smaller kids). As for the house - I was impressed how it accommodates nice size groups really well while maintaining a cozy feel. The layout is easy for people to move about for a sense of privacy, but equally easy for people to hang out around the oversized dining table, on the porch, back yard, and it’s got a completely dog friendly set up where they can be on the front porch, or hanging out in the back (many places claim dog friendly, but nowhere for dogs to hang out other than inside the cabin). The layout is kid friendly (no obvious hazards) and the upstairs is quiet when you need to get a nap in. Of course the hot tub out back does wonders after a long hike. We pre-booked the next year the day we arrived home – that about says it all. We look forward to making it our regular annual summer destination for years to come.

I stayed here with my family over the week of Christmas and had a wonderful time. The cabin is very charming and cozy with lots of light, and it was the perfect fit for our family of five. It's within quick driving distance to the West/North Shore ski resorts--we were able to ski Homewood, Alpine Meadows and Northstar. It's also very close to Sunnyside, where we had a delish Christmas dinner. I would recommend this cabin and would be happy staying there again in the future.

Our Fall stay at Shady Lane was a vacation dream come true! We arrived at Shady Lane to find an immaculately clean cabin that is truly Old Tahoe Charm with plenty of modern comforts and amenities such as Wi-Fi, TV, iPod dock, washer/dryer, hot tub, games, and videos. The owner is very friendly and helpful to make sure your stay is all you want it to be. She was very prompt and helpful answering our questions about the hot tub. Even though we live only a little over an hour away, staying in Tahoe has provided us with countless extra opportunities for truly realizing all the natural beauty of Lake Tahoe. The Shady Lane cabin is a short walk to the lake shore where we watched both the sunrise and sunset which we could never do on day trips to Tahoe. We also hiked, biked, kayaked, and even had time to relax. During our 2 week stay, we had summer heat, Fall thunder storms, and a snow storm over Mt Rose summit! The weather can be very entertaining! We do all our own cooking when traveling and we were very pleased with the kitchen that was thoroughly stocked with everything you need. There are several restaurants nearby if you prefer. Fire Sign Cafe and Sunnyside Resort are highly recommended. Tahoe City is only 3 miles away for groceries and many more good restaurants. It was a special treat to be able to bring our dog with us...for all the dog lover's, you know they truly are part of the family! There is nothing I would change about our vacation at Shady Lane. It was perfect!

Fantastic! Thank you so much for your hospitality. Great "old Tahoe" feel with plenty of character. Clean, comfortable, great location, well stocked and plenty of parking. This is my favorite spot on tahoe, we hiked right out the door, walked along the lake, up the mountains, and down to Sunnyside for dinner. I can't wait to come back this winter for skiing and snow shoeing. We will be coming back for years to come. Thanks again :)

We've just returned from a wonderful summer stay at the Shady Lane Cabin and can truly say that it was a "home away from home". So well equipped and convenient to all services, our Golden Retriever loved her daily swims in the Lake just a few blocks away and the weather was perfect! Thanks again, hope to visit again soon!

We had a terrific stay here in May 2007 and were very impressed by the cabin. It is clean, comfortable and very well-stocked, especially the kitchen (we did not need to bring basic store cupboard ingredients as all were there). You will need to bring toys and DVDs for your kids but everything else is there. Our toddler loved it and played happily and safely! We also saw a bear late one night in the garden, passing through - very exciting.

Charming "Tahoe" sytle rustic feel, but with all the modern amenities. Great intimate location, yet walking distance to nice dining and few minute drive to town. Sleeps 8 comforatably. Perfect get-away cabin to unwind either with friends and a romantic excursion sitting infront the fireplace. Nothing negative about my experience and look forward to renting again.
