Our family had the best vacation in years. The views of Roan Mountain are spectacular. It is located very close to Carver's Gap and is perfect for AT day hikers or anyone looking to visit the Roan Mountain Rhododendron Gardens. This is a peaceful, more secluded cabin located in a quaint farming community. Great for a get-away!! They were very accommodating with our pets and very friendly. I plan to stay here again in the future.

Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Relaxing Thanksgiving

Thank you for a beautiful cabin, in an absolutely glorious setting! The cabin was very spacious and comfortable, and accommodating. The property is beautiful, with mountain streams, Christmas trees galore(which is one of my most favorite things), trails, and a charming country store down the road. We would be content to just relax and enjoy the surroundings of the cabin, but we did venture out to explore. We had not been back to this area in around 25 years. It brought back some great memories, and we made new ones as well. We hope to return sometime.

My only complaint - that I had to leave. A very beautiful home, fabulous views, a most gracious owner, who could ask for anything more. Lots of great things to do in the area - highly recommend Penland School, Roan Mtn. A few good restaurants in Spruce Pine & 2 excellent lunch places in Little Switzerland. The house was very accomodating to older people and fun for our various summering guests. Just loved the 2nd laundry in the master - perfect for one who can't do stairs. A good time was had by all, especially Sophie who loved the ability to be outside, off leash, running through the grass and trying, unsuccessfully, to intimidate the deer. Already looking forward to next year.

This was our 3rd stay and we very much enjoyed our entire week in the comfort of the cabin and the beautiful surroundings of the Roan Mountain and wildlife. We enjoyed our trips into Bakersville or Spruce pine but was glad to come back to relax and enjoy the peacefulness and splendor of the mountains. We appreciate the thoughtfulness of the owner to ensure things were taken care of during our stay. We will be back again.

Our Third Stay At The Cabin, Best One Yet!

This was our 3rd time to stay in the cabin and again we loved every minute of it. The breathtaking views, the cleanliness & the comfortableness that you feel when you walk through the door are worth it all. It's like being at home away from home. We LOVE the addition of the new bunk beds in the basement room, it was perfect for our family. THANKS!! We are looking forward to staying again next year!

This was my second time staying at this cabin. On both occasions, this cabin was clean and well supplied. It is very beautiful, large and everything was in working order. The outside is just as nice as the inside. There is a swing and chairs on the porch for relaxing outside. The driveway is circular around the cabin, allowing plenty of vehicle room. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone who enjoys the country setting. I would definately book that same cabin again.

Fantastic Mountain Location Rental!

We wanted to find a nice place in the mountains to stay a couple days and this was definitely the perfect place to do that. The house was beautiful, just like the surrounding area of Bakersville. I would absolutely recommend this rental to families looking for a great mountain location! Thank you!

The house and the area were perfect. We actualy had seveal inches of snow for our two children to play in, which was perfect. The views were fantastic and we will certainly be back.

Wonderful New Years Eve Getaway!

Friends and I enjoyed this cabin for a long weekend to celebrate New Year's Eve 2011. The cabin was beautiful with incredible views! Everything was clean, warm and inviting. The fire place was a perfect background to enjoying the weekend. We even enjoyed driving a few minutes away to hike up to the top of one of the mountain look outs for spectacular 360 degree views. Owner was fantastic to work with!! Very nice and personable - really mad the rental easy and fun. I would highly recommend this cabin, and will probably be visiting it again in the future!

Thanksgiving in Bakersville

This past week was our second time to rent this house for Thanksgiving week and we plan to rent it again in the future. With our children located in Raleigh, NC and Montgomery, AL we have to plan a time to be together and the rental of this house has proved to be perfect for our family. We all love the outdoors and the Area around Bakersville offers ample opportunity to experience the outdoors at various levels of intensity. We have hiked in to remote water falls and to the Grassy Bald as well as visiting some of the local sites such as Litte Switzerland. The house is extremely comfortable, clean, restful, and well placed. We went for a daily walk up the mountain behind the house for a short walking exercise. The scene from the balcony of the Grassy Bald is fantastic! The wife loves to cook and the kitchen is perfect for preparing a Thanksgiving feast. We will be back!

Very Nice Cabin with Spectacular Views

This was our second time staying at this property. First time was for a week in June 2008 and again for a week September 24th, 2011. Both times we were very pleased with the cabin and surrounding area. The cabin is very clean, well maintained and beds were very comfortable. A family member drove from Baltimore MD and also spent a relaxing week with us. The mountain views are breath taking and we were very pleased to spend allot of time just relaxing around the cabin enjoying the views, watching the deer coming and going every day. We made a few trips into Bakersville, Spruce Pine, Carvers Gap, Roan Mountain TN and Johnston City TN. But the trips were never very long as we wanted to come back to the Cabin to relax and enjoy the mountain views and nature. Everything listed with this property is accurate and then some. We love the peacefulness and beauty of this area and know we will be returning for a 3rd visit as well.

Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners.

I can't begin to say enough good things about this beautiful cabin. It just makes you feel so at home. The views are amazing and the cabin is so welcoming with everything you need to make your stay perfect. The owner of this cabin is such a pleasure to work with, he is very generous and very helpful should you need anything. This was our second time staying at the cabin and we couldn't imagine finding a better place to enjoy both the sights of Bakersville and the great memories we shared with our family. We can't wait until we are able to go down and stay again!

A place worth coming back....

This was our second stay in the cabin, the first one was in August of this year. The mountain views are spectacular in full bloom and in the winter. If you would like peace and quiet, this is the perfect place to be in. The house is roomy, clean, and well-maintained. There is WiFi and cable for the TV. But, what impressed me the most is how helpful the owner of the cabin has been and how responsive he was to our needs and requests (not that we had many in his beautiful place). There are two houses on the right that are less than 5 minutes of walking distance, and the neighbors are friendly and very nice. During our last visit, we had about 12 inches of snow in one day, and one of the neighbors made sure that the road was passable (he has a tractor to plow the private road). He also gave us his cell number should we need other kinds of assistance. And for someone who is unfamiliar to the area, that means a lot. We are definitely coming back, and may make this our place of tranquility every time we need a break from the fast pace life we live in.

This was our first stay in this cabin but hopefully it won't be our last. We came down from Maryland and stayed for a week with extended family. The cabin was amazing, it made us feel so at home. The mountain views were out of his world. We had some family members come and visit with us during our stay and they were imppressed by how nice everything was. I can't say enough good things about this beautiful cabin.

This was a second year in a row in the cabin, and once again it was an excellent stay. The cabin is in a perfect location to get the feel of the mountains, with an absolutely excellent view of Roan mountain. Looking forward to coming down again.

We stayed for a full week with grandparents and 3 kids ages 3 yrs to 6 yrs and we all had a wonderful time (total of 7 in party). The house itself is beautiful, well equiped and perfect for adults while still being very kid friendly. The location is amazing. You never need to leave the house to get amazing views of the mountains! Once you get the hang of the roads, you can go north to TN, south to the BRPwy, over to Boone area with no trouble. 30 minutes to grocery/pharmacy, etc but in the middle of no where for privacy and relaxation! Best of both worlds! Owners were wonderful to work with, and very helpful with questions we had. No doubt this rates as one of our best NC trips ever! Thanks again for the use of your home!

My family spent a long weekend in this lovely cabin. The cabin is spacious and beautifully furnished. The kitchen was fully equipped and spacious. This allowed my adult children to treat each other to dinners without needed to drag little children to restaurants. We spent an afternoon on a moderate hike at carvers gap. Our group included a 75 yr old Grandma and toddlers. The next day we went to Linville falls and the caves. Both outings were great fun. Hours and hours were spent just enjoying each other and playing on the lovely property .

Excellent cabin with awesome views. Only a few miles from the top of Roan mountain, Appalachian Trail, Rhododendron gardens, and other excellent sight seeing. Cabin is very spacious, even for a large group.
