Lovely cottage in Sonoma- makes for a great wine weekend getaway!

This property was perfect for a weekend getaway in Sonoma. We were able to walk to the plaza and surrounding wineries. The house was exactly as described by the owners and as seen in photos. It was clean, and well-stocked with household items (bedding, towels, basic kitchen amenities, etc.). The house is very comfortable. The owners were extremely helpful and responsive to inquiries. It was also in close walking distance to Hopmonk Tavern- a really cool local brewery, which we enjoyed after a day of walking around Sonoma. My friends and I kept saying how this was a great "find!" We will definitely be staying here again. All around it was a great experience!

Three friends and I spent the weekend at Macarthur Cottage. We found the kitchen very well equipped and had a great time cooking delicious meals. The beds were comfortable, as was the couch for afternoon lounging around. We were able to walk to all restaurants as well as the bike rental shop. The house was super clean and I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a homey spot to spend a weekend away.

Spent a long weekend with the girls celebrating milestone birthdays and this property was absolutely perfect! Close to downtown, clean, well maintained and with everything you could need to make your stay comfortable. Lovely, quiet area with a private feeling. Hot tub close to the house for a quick in and out if the weather is cool. Photos don't do justice to the quaintness of the house. I would HIGHLY recommend this property if you are looking for a couples or girls weekend. I have booked a number of houses on VRBO and this was one of the best. I would also recommend booking your wine tasting tour with Platypus Tours. Ask for Ken! He provided a very personalized tour. We felt like queens! I am recommending both the house and Platypus to any of my friends/relatives who are interested in visiting the wine country.

I can't imagine retruning to Sonoma and not staying here!!

This cottage was well respresented in the literature but not having stayed previously in a VRBO, we were not sure what to expect. We drove into the drive and immediately felt at home being greeted by beautiful aromatic flora and trees! Upon walking in the front door, the comfort and coziness was immediately evident. Small spaces by american standards today but we had everything we needed and more. The quality in the home was surely more than expected.The design, very functional and aesthetic. Well cleaned and immaculate. We felt as though we were personally known by the owners and they entrusted their lovely home to us. My only regret is not using the outdoor al fresco dining area but next time!!! I had even brought a tablecloth purchased in Napa years ago! Thank you for sharing your home with us, would love to return in the future and would recommend to anyone interested in enjoying wine country,a perfect setting and location! Very centrally located to Napa and Sonoma and of course, minutes from the Sonoma plaza where wonderful restaurants and shops exists. Great fresh food market in town, too!!

What a perfect place for a vacation. The home has everything you need from cups and glasses to extra pillow cases and even bikes to borrow for a bike ride! The yard is like a park with trees, plantings, and a large grassy area. I highly recommend this house for a rental if you're looking for a restful vacation in Sonoma.

"Just a quick note to let you know how much we enjoyed the house! It is a really comfortable place, and we felt right at home and had such an enjoyable stay! The spa was a quick walk, which was very nice, and it was also great to be so close to the square. We ate at Girl + Fig and La Salette, as well as Rin's Thai (something different). We also really enjoyed the food and wine pairing at the Mayo Family Reserve Tasting Room! ...thanks again for a wonderful stay!"

Exactly as described. Deceptively large house and yard in great, quiet location. Myself - ex-Sonoma resident - and 2 teens spent 6 nights here in Dec 2010/Jan 2011. We love to cook (they love me to cook, lol) and the kitchen has all which you could want. The house is comfortable, cosy and private. Lots of board games for if it rains... The Plaza is a 10 minute walk. We'll be back, in Spring/Summer when the weather is better ! That says it all, really, doesn't it ?

we have relatives who live in sonoma..as our family grows larger we have had reunions in the past where some of the family had to stay in hotels...how i wish i would have known about the lovely macarthur cottage during those visits...the layout of the home was great and worked beautifully when it was our turn for the dinners ...especially fun for young children to run and play in the large backyard with the many toys and bocce ball court....lovely location ....and we used the track and play areas in the school across the street...the owners were available to answer any questions i had in the planning stages....highly recommend this property

The Macarthur Cottage is beautiful inside and out. A perfect place for our family of four to stay. Our girls, who are 5 and 2, felt right at home with the abundance of well loved toys. The furnishings are very nice and well maintained yet we felt comfortable enough to really put our feet up and relax. It is close enough to the plaza to walk or ride the provided bicycles and enjoy some really excellent food. Or the backyard is a perfect place to dine especially when 2 little girls have completely worn out their parents. We will come to the Macarthur Cottage again and again.

My family stayed at the MacArthur Cottage May 17 - 21, 2009. It is everything as described plus many more features and is a mini-resort. The owners furnished everything that one would need to enjoy the stay. The location near the main square is good and the neighborhood is quiet. They were also very responsive to communications and were anxious to please. We will definitely stay there again.

Just got back from a weekend stay and can not speak highly enough of this house. Extremely warm, inviting and comfortable. The backyard and hot tub are amazing. Just minutes away from all the action but nice and quiet. You will not be disappointed if you rent this house.

What a wonderful home! My girlfriends and I stayed at this house last October and it far exceeded all our expectations. The website photos understates the quality of this home. They put so much care into this house and it's in a great location. I felt like I was staying at a friend's home. The beds are so comfortable. So comfortable in fact, we pulled the sheets off to see write down the mattress type. We cooked every night and the kitchen had everything I could have imagined needing. We sat on the porch in the evenings and sipped wine and talked about our days' adventures at the wineries. I hope they never sell this place, because we plan on going back and bringing our husbands next time.

What a very special place this is. We recently celebtrated the women in our family over Mother's Day weekend and couldn't have chosen a better location. The entire home is well appointed with comfy beds, a stunning back yard with hot tub and large dining table. Close proximity to the Sonoma Plaza and all that has to offer is a huge plus. We will be back!

The Girl and the Fig was an excellent recommendation and the wineries and vineyards in the area were exactly what we were looking for. We had a college reunion girls weekend here and it was great! We went Wine Tasting with Elite Limo on Saturday and spent the night making dinner and realxing in the hot tub. It's the perfect size and has a great back yard... can't wait to come back in the summer and utilize the space for a summer BBQ!!

I had a reunion/bridal shower for my sister and a few friends recently and this cottage was just *PERFECT*. Well stocked, beautifully appointed and in a perfect location close to the town center. Everybody was so impressed with the amenities. We were even able to walk to a spa, then come home and relax in the hot tub while making dinner. You will NOT be disappointed if you stay here, and the owners are helpful and welcoming.

My husband and I recently enjoyed a 5 night getaway at MacArthur cottage, and were quite pleased to find we were staying in the nicest part of town. We biked around the neighborhood looking at cute cottages and elegant mansions,wine-tasted at Sebastiani Winery only several blocks from the house, and ate delicious dinners out on the Plaza. We especially were impressed with the Swiss Hotel cuisine. We went back twice... MacArthur Cottage was a relaxing place to come "home" to, with a HUGE green backyard with rose and camellia bushes. We will plan on returning!

This home was the perfect getaway for our Sonoma vacation. Not only was the location ideal (within walking distance to the main square), it was so charming and comfortable and well stocked with everything a family might need, that we didn't want to leave!
