Winter is here, but it is always summer on Anna Maria Island! There are still a few open weeks! Anna Maria Island has one of the most pristine, un-crowded beaches you will ever visit. Enjoy a champagne breakfast at Waterfront Restaurant, Duffy's burgers for lunch, or cocktails at sunset! In addition, there are many other fabulous things to do here - Busch Gardens, Universal Studios and Disney are all within a two-hour drive. World-class restaurants and shopping in Sarasota & St. Armand’s circle are just a short drive south, down to Longboat Key and Lido Key. If you are outdoorsy, the swimming, biking, kayaking and fishing are unbeatable year-round!
Peacock Place, our "big house" on Anna Maria Island is a sprawling old-Florida style home with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and plenty of space. It is ideal for a large family or several couples. It is very close to the beach, with only one other house between it and our beautiful, un-crowded beach on the Gulf of Mexico. Anna Maria is less than an hour away from 3 major airports: Tampa (TPA), Sarasota (SRQ) and St. Petersburg-Clearwater (PIE). Just a short trip across the Intracoastal Waterway, AMI is easy to get to, and difficult to leave!
The house is ideal for a large family or several couples. It has been added onto here and there over the years, creating a pleasant haphazard of living spaces. The kitchen is bright and airy with ample room to cook for a crowd. Just about every tool or appliance you could want is probably available. For outdoor cooking, there is also a gas grill, a small charcoal grill and a small smoker. The main living room is quite large with lots of comfy sofas and recliners. Many games, toys and puzzles, plus an extensive library of vintage books, are tucked into nooks, crannies and shelves all over. There are two dining tables in this room, two more fold-out tables, and lots & lots of chairs! There is a new 32" HD TV, extended digital cable, DVD, VHS, AM-FM stereo with CD, and high-speed wireless internet.
On the east side of the house, there is a large screened porch. It is the ideal spot for sunrise and coffee, and great for sleeping when it is not too hot. The porch has another dining table too. In the old breezeway, there is a fun retro-style cocktail bar.
The master suite is surprisingly elegant. It is also quite large, with a king-sized bed, two dressers and a small armoire (contains TV). There is also a cozy sitting area with a corner fireplace. The master bath is spacious and cheery, with an exterior door that takes you straight to the beach, and a nearby outdoor shower.
The other three bedrooms each have a pair of twin beds--they can easily be pushed together to make a king bed. As well, there is another set of twin beds in the former breezeway, an additional pair of twin beds, and two queen-sized sleeper sofas. There is also a second full bath with a large walk-in shower. The entire house has central air conditioning.
There is only one other house between this one and the beach. We have lots of beach toys and umbrellas. Bicycles are also available. You can easily bike to shopping and restaurants all over the island. There is also a free trolley that runs from north Anna Maria to south Longboat Key (the next island south) and a trolley stop just down the street from the house.
This house is entirely ground-level - there are no stairs. Peacock Place is also pet-friendly. It has a large yard (no fence). Dogs are not allowed on the beach, but they can swim at the boat ramp or on the Palma Sola causeway, just a short drive away.

My maternal grandmother bought this house and its neighbor in the early 1960’s and both houses have remained in our family ever since. Many, many happy events – parties, reunions, weddings, honeymoons and celebrations – have occurred here over the years. We enjoy sharing our little piece of paradise with those who appreciate Anna Maria Island for its slow pace, laid-back ambience and quirky charm. Very little has changed in our neighborhood over the last 50 years and best of all, the beach, the Gulf and those unforgettable sunsets are only a short stroll away!

Hi – I’m Denise, a 40-something wife, stepmother, aunt and new grandmother who loves all things Florida, especially our big house on Anna Maria Island. Though I do have a real job, I would much prefer to be a full-time beach bum and spend as much time near or in the water as possible. There is no better place to enjoy this lifestyle than on Anna Maria Island, one of the few remaining barrier islands with little development and lots of old Florida appeal!

This is our second time renting this home and it was equally as wonderful as the first time.. We had a family of 12 there during a portion of our stay and there is plenty of room - not only spacious - but kid friendly! The beach access is so close I could even have my coffee in the morning sitting on a bench just steps from the house...One of the best things about this house is all that comes with it..I didn't even need to bring spices! All of the utensils, pots, pans, dishes - everything you could ever need is right there! It is almost like moving from your home to your home on the beach! I would recommend it to anyone with a large family! The owners are extremely helpful and always available if you should need anything! We'll be back!

Peacock Place proved to be the perfect match for our family this Christmas. While only eight of us slept there, all seventeen family members used the home for meals, playing games and hanging out. There was ample room for three dining tables and chairs to seat all of us. The adjacent family/living room was comfortable for reading, watching TV or visiting. The porch served as a place to work on a puzzle or for the dog to hang out. The large entry area/parlor served as the quiet escape for those who wanted to read emails or check Facebook! The home has everything you could possibly need and if there is something else desired, just ask Denise. For Christmas Eve we wanted a large soup pot. Denise found one and brought it over. The furnishings are practical, colorful, clean and very functional. We all felt very much at home. Anna Maria Island was exactly the low key, family oriented place that we wanted for our Christmas gathering. The beach was nearby and lovely. We were close enough to grocery stores, a nice spa and restaurants. Movie theaters were a little further...15 to 30 minute drive. Some of our group enjoyed a charter fishing trip catching far more that the 17 of us could consume.

We had a fantastic family reunion here. The house was everything we wanted and more, so comfortable, welcoming, and well-provided. It is just steps to the beautiful beach, and furnished with everything a person could want to use, in any age group! It was an outstanding choice for us, and we want to come back again! The owner was so responsive to questions or requests. We wondered about bringing beach toys, etc. for the children, beach chairs, umbrellas, etc. but everything we could have wanted was already there for us. I highly recommend this house for a wonderful vacation!

May 10, 2008: Everything was fabulous. Friends and family gathered to celebrate our son's wedding. The back yard was full of white lights, flowers, torches, magic, fun and good food. Thank you for welcoming our family to your homes for this celebration. We transformed the back yard into a lighted paradise. Everyone loved the houses!

I have stayed in this beach house for six winters and to me it is living in paradise. A few steps to the most b eautiful part of Anna Maria Island's beach and the most perfect spot to watch the sunset. Great house for family. If you like to cook the kitchen is amazing. Fun party house.
