Perfect Get Away

I have lived on Oahu for 14 years and traveled to all the islands. My family has stayed in many rental homes and resorts throughout the islands. For this vacation we were looking for a quiet, uncrowded, "off the beaten track" kind of experience. This property fulfilled all our expectations. Transactions and communication with the owner were excellent. We were called by both the owner and caretaker after arrival to ensure everything was going well. The house is about a 20-25 minute drive from the airport. The drive is nice. I recommend arrival during daylight hours as at night visibility is a challenge. I also strongly recommend going to the grocery store in town before you head out to the house. The photographs of the house are very accurate. The house is very nice, modern and in great shape. We had 6 people and there was plenty of room for all of us. The lanai with it's view of the ocean and rocking chairs is wonderful. You can listen to waves as you go to sleep. The kitchen has everything you need. The TV with cable and DVD player work great. The washer and dryer are an added convenience. I enjoyed fishing, surfing and snorkeling out front. The kids enjoyed tide pooling. Less than 5 minutes away is Dixie Maru beach, don't miss it! A 15-20 minute easy hike (grandma did it with us) from Dixie Maru will get you to Kaupoa Beach. It's gorgeous and no one else was ever there! Also very near by are Papohaku and Kawakiu beaches; pretty much deserted. We really liked Kawakiu beach! We did drive around the island and explored some but this vacation was mostly about family time and relaxation for us so we mostly stayed near the house. Molokai is a very laid back and quiet island. If you are looking for more action, fancy resorts or restaurants you can take the ferry to Maui. If you are looking for a peaceful, private, quiet get away with your family than this place is for you.
