Keywords: Cabin
My husband and I found Volcano Village about 15 years ago. It was our dream to purchase property there, and 10 years ago we did just that. We built a small magical little cabin. For many years we enjoyed it ourselves from time to time, and on occasion our friends and family would go and stay at the cabin. Each time we always heard the same things... How beautiful it was, how inspiring it felt, and how they just never wanted to leave. So 2 years ago we put it on the market as a vacation rental.
The cabin is a huge cabin/studio, it offers a very large bathroom with a Large soak tub, a stand up shower, full washer & dryer, full size kitchen, dining area, sitting room with a view of the forest and a gorgeous gas fireplace. We just (2007) put in a brand NEW queen size pillow top mattress that makes you fill like you are really sleeping in the clouds and though there is a large picture window just above the bed so as you lay there you can keep your eyes on the Big Dipper.

Imagine our delight when we arrived at Aloha Nohea Volcano cabin on a dark rainy night. This is such a charming place to stay and in a great location - within miles of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. We awoke to a fantasy of tropical plants surrounding the cabin. The cabin has everything you need - a kitchen fully equipped, washer/dryer, great bathroom. Very well designed and furnished with even the Big Dipper above the bedroom window. A definite stay for our next trip.

We stayed here for three nights during our two week vacation on the Big Island, and it killed us to leave after such a short time. Of the three houses we rented, this was our favorite. The house is open and naturally lit with skylights in all the rooms, making it only necessary to use the electric lights in the evening. The kitchen is large and completely stocked for cooking and eating, that is if you can force yourself to not go eat at the great restaurants in Volcano. We actually picked up food and brought it home, so we could enjoy both! The verdant rainforest comes right up to the house, so all the windows have picturesque views of the greenery. The bed was beyond comfortable, and you can't beat the fireplace for the cool nights. The lanai is large and perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee or local tea from the market while listening to the rain fall in the forest. We were happy to be just minutes from the park, since the Volcano House in the park is still closed for repairs. We drove out to the Jaggar observatory almost every night to admire the glow from Halemaumau. Hiked many trails during the day. The house is well located for maximum privacy. We felt so far away from the world while staying there. We plan on returning in the future, and hope that we will be fortunate enough to stay here again.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful place! Everything needed was there to make our stay comfortable. Love the outside deck and the soaking tub. Side by side reclining chairs in the living area so comfortable! As an aside, loved that only the minimum space needed for the cottage was cleared, so that the native forest is right there on every side. Will absolutely recommend this to friends and family for a Volcano getaway. Mahalo to the owners for sharing this little piece of paradise.

This is such a nice property. It's very quiet, very private, very clean and lovingly maintained. It's gorgeous inside with lots of hardwood. There is a large washer/dryer set, which was critical for us. The owners are very nice and it is incredibly reasonably-priced. My only recommendation if you stay here is to arrive during daylight hours. It is difficult to find the key and maneuver your car when you're unfamiliar with the property and you arrive when it is dark. We enjoyed ourselves very much. If we could have carted this place with us across the entire island, we would have. We spent 2 and 3 times as much on the other places we stayed at across the island and they weren't as nice as this place... they just had extraordinary water views. And since there's no water in this area, a water view wasn't a factor when we selected this property.

How can you beat it -- we were maybe ten minutes away (probably less) from the entrance to Volcanoes National Park entrance. We LOVED the cabin -- it looks brand new and was perfect. It had all that we needed -- it was so comfortable. It was VERY pretty to look at and the bathroom was huge. It was ust perfect!!!

We stayed at this wonderful cottage for an anniversary trip. It was beautiful!! The location was convenient for exploring the national park. It was also an easy drive to the Hilo area. Everything about the cottage was beautiful. It was well stocked with anything you might need to cook a meal and it was also convenient to have the laundry facilities available. We have raved about this wonderful cottage to family and friends when we tell them about our trip to the Big Island. We can't wait to go back!

A special stay awaits you at the end of the road when you stay in this cozy cottage in the forest of huge ferns and big trees. The knotty pine interior makes a peaceful background for sitting in front of the fire, cooking in the well furnished kitchen and sleeping in a very comfortable bed. It was cool and misty outside but we were snug. Remember you are at 4000 feet.......and bring a warm jacket. Thank you for sharing your cottage with us.

Location was convenient from highway and instructions given to reach location great. The surroundings to the rental were lush with tropical ferns and the cabin beautiful. The cabin was perfect for two with comfortable rocking & reclining chairs for relaxation. Our purpose for staying at this location was to hike the volcano trails. The Sunday market was a highlight of our stay where we enjoyed food and art. We were lucky to see a pair of the native Hawaiian Nene geese with their goslings along the highway not far from Volcano Park turn off towards the Captain Cook area.

We began staying at the this cabin over 3 years ago. We both agree this is "our favorite place on earth" to stay. The cabin feels like "home" to us and provides every need during our stay on the Big Island. First class accommodations for a more than reasonable price. You cannot find a better option to stay on the Big Island! The ferns, the rainforest, and the cabin all come together to create your own piece of 'heaven on earth'.
