My husband and I found Volcano Village about 20 years ago. It was our dream to purchase property there, and we did just that. We built a small magical little cabin. For many years we enjoyed it ourselves from time to time, and on occasion our friends and family would go and stay at the cabin. Each time we always heard the same things... How beautiful it was, how inspiring it felt, and how they just never wanted to leave. So a Few years ago we put it on the market as a vacation rental.

The cabin is a huge cabin/studio, it offers a very large bathroom with a Large soak tub, a stand up shower, full washer & dryer, full size kitchen, dining area, sitting room with a view of the forest and a gorgeous gas fireplace. We just put in a brand NEW queen size pillow top mattress that makes you fill like you are really sleeping in the clouds and though there is a large picture window just above the bed so as you lay there you can keep your eyes on the Big Dipper.

This cabin lived up to everything that was advertised and more. It was extremely clean, beautifully appointed, and well stocked. We felt peaceful and at rest. The bed was very comfortable. It was a wonderful home base while we visited the volcano area and Hilo. The quiet neighbourhood and rain forest surroundings were lovely, both in the rain showers and when the sun shone. Highly recommended and we would love to return one day.

Because Volcanos is our special getaway place, my husband and I have stayed at many vacation rentals in and outside the Village. We always pay close attention to the description of amenties and count on them being accurate as it helps us plan what to bring along from our home in Kona. Most times we find our chosen vacation "home" exactly as described and pictured, but some times not so much! This is the second time we have stayed in this very cozy cottage that is perfect for a congenial couple. Again, we enjoyed our stay here very much. The gas fireplace is beautiful and in the winter is necessary. The beautiful picture windows are thoughtfully placed to take in the gorgeous forest scenery. The bathroom is large and the hot shower with plenty of water pressure greatly appreciated after day hikes in sometimes soggy weather. The bed, which is nestled into the bay windows, makes it perfect for watching the stars at night (we had a great view of the big dipper). Our only real disappointment during this trip was that we expected the cottage to have Satellite TV and were surprised to find out (after we arrived) that it was not working. If we had been forewarned, we might have brought some favorite movies to watch on the rainy nights during our stay. There are also a couple of routine maintenance tasks that would ensure that this lovely cottage remain that way for years to come. Had it not been for a the rainy weather, we would not have noticed a couple places where gutters may need to be checked or cleaned out. We'd hate to see the beautiful wood facia damaged. Although there is plenty of alternative lighting options, the can lights over the sink were not working, so that might need to be checked out as well. As for things to do in Volcanos and places to dine...If you enjoy nature in its most awesome form, this area is for you. We chose a somewhat stormy weekend to visit, but even in mist and rain, beauty and adventure is plentiful. We took the petroglyph hike (easy 1.5 mile round trip) and were awed by the experience. We took our usual trip to Jaggar and checked out what was happening in the crater (always interesting). We visited the Volcano Art Gallery within the park and also were pleased to find that another one had opened in the Village. We also checked out how the renovations were going at Volcano House...to be complete by Aug 2013! Thai Thai restaurant is the bomb! We hope you enjoy the area as much as we do!! Happy adventuring!

We truly enjoyed our stay at Aloha Nohea cabin! Although we had a little glitch in the beginning (the room wasn't cleaned from the last stay due to a scheduling problem), the owners more than made up for our troubles refunding our first nite. Even the person who did the cleaning brought a thoughtful gift basket for our troubles. I think it was a surprise for all of us....and the beauty and peace of the cabin more than made up for any irritation. The cabin was a peaceful respite for our busy days. The deck was a great place to meditate...the bathtub a great place to soak. The total quiet made the birdsong spectacular. The darkness of the night made the stars seem super bright and our sleep heavenly. We'd return in a heartbeat! Thank you!

I stayed at Aloha Nohea Volcano Cabin from April 18th through April 24th. It is everything they describe and more. It is clean, quiet, secluded and lovely; almost totally surrounded by rainforest. It has everything you need and is close to the local Volcano stores and restaurants. Only twenty-five minutes from Keaau and about forty mintues to Hilo. And a very short drive to Volcanoes National Park. The bed is comfortable and extra blankets and pillows are provided. There is also some beach gear if needed. Connecting to the internet was a breeze. The gas firelplace works perfectly; and it will certainly be needed on those cool, Volcano nights. The woodwork and decor in the cabin is beautiful and fun; and the interior feels very spacious. There is a wonderful lanai just off the living/sleeping area that is perfect for relaxing and having breakfast in the mornings. The cabin is on a catchment water system, but water pressure is good; especially the shower. If you have any problems at all, just contact the owner as soon as possible and he will make sure it is taken care of right away. This cabin is an absolute gem; and the rate is more than reasonable for the accommodations and the surrounding area. It is perfect for couples, or a single person looking to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet; but not too far away from all the activities and sites that make the Big Island so unique and enjoyable. You will not be disappointed and I highly recommend this rental. I would most definitely stay here again.

Imagine our delight when we arrived at Aloha Nohea Volcano cabin on a dark rainy night. This is such a charming place to stay and in a great location - within miles of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. We awoke to a fantasy of tropical plants surrounding the cabin. The cabin has everything you need - a kitchen fully equipped, washer/dryer, great bathroom. Very well designed and furnished with even the Big Dipper above the bedroom window. A definite stay for our next trip.

We stayed here for three nights during our two week vacation on the Big Island, and it killed us to leave after such a short time. Of the three houses we rented, this was our favorite. The house is open and naturally lit with skylights in all the rooms, making it only necessary to use the electric lights in the evening. The kitchen is large and completely stocked for cooking and eating, that is if you can force yourself to not go eat at the great restaurants in Volcano. We actually picked up food and brought it home, so we could enjoy both! The verdant rainforest comes right up to the house, so all the windows have picturesque views of the greenery. The bed was beyond comfortable, and you can't beat the fireplace for the cool nights. The lanai is large and perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee or local tea from the market while listening to the rain fall in the forest. We were happy to be just minutes from the park, since the Volcano House in the park is still closed for repairs. We drove out to the Jaggar observatory almost every night to admire the glow from Halemaumau. Hiked many trails during the day. The house is well located for maximum privacy. We felt so far away from the world while staying there. We plan on returning in the future, and hope that we will be fortunate enough to stay here again.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful place! Everything needed was there to make our stay comfortable. Love the outside deck and the soaking tub. Side by side reclining chairs in the living area so comfortable! As an aside, loved that only the minimum space needed for the cottage was cleared, so that the native forest is right there on every side. Will absolutely recommend this to friends and family for a Volcano getaway. Mahalo to the owners for sharing this little piece of paradise.

This is such a nice property. It's very quiet, very private, very clean and lovingly maintained. It's gorgeous inside with lots of hardwood. There is a large washer/dryer set, which was critical for us. The owners are very nice and it is incredibly reasonably-priced. My only recommendation if you stay here is to arrive during daylight hours. It is difficult to find the key and maneuver your car when you're unfamiliar with the property and you arrive when it is dark. We enjoyed ourselves very much. If we could have carted this place with us across the entire island, we would have. We spent 2 and 3 times as much on the other places we stayed at across the island and they weren't as nice as this place... they just had extraordinary water views. And since there's no water in this area, a water view wasn't a factor when we selected this property.

How can you beat it -- we were maybe ten minutes away (probably less) from the entrance to Volcanoes National Park entrance. We LOVED the cabin -- it looks brand new and was perfect. It had all that we needed -- it was so comfortable. It was VERY pretty to look at and the bathroom was huge. It was ust perfect!!!

We stayed at this wonderful cottage for an anniversary trip. It was beautiful!! The location was convenient for exploring the national park. It was also an easy drive to the Hilo area. Everything about the cottage was beautiful. It was well stocked with anything you might need to cook a meal and it was also convenient to have the laundry facilities available. We have raved about this wonderful cottage to family and friends when we tell them about our trip to the Big Island. We can't wait to go back!
