I stayed at Aloha Nohea Volcano Cabin from April 18th through April 24th. It is everything they describe and more. It is clean, quiet, secluded and lovely; almost totally surrounded by rainforest. It has everything you need and is close to the local Volcano stores and restaurants. Only twenty-five minutes from Keaau and about forty mintues to Hilo. And a very short drive to Volcanoes National Park. The bed is comfortable and extra blankets and pillows are provided. There is also some beach gear if needed. Connecting to the internet was a breeze. The gas firelplace works perfectly; and it will certainly be needed on those cool, Volcano nights. The woodwork and decor in the cabin is beautiful and fun; and the interior feels very spacious. There is a wonderful lanai just off the living/sleeping area that is perfect for relaxing and having breakfast in the mornings. The cabin is on a catchment water system, but water pressure is good; especially the shower. If you have any problems at all, just contact the owner as soon as possible and he will make sure it is taken care of right away. This cabin is an absolute gem; and the rate is more than reasonable for the accommodations and the surrounding area. It is perfect for couples, or a single person looking to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet; but not too far away from all the activities and sites that make the Big Island so unique and enjoyable. You will not be disappointed and I highly recommend this rental. I would most definitely stay here again.

Imagine our delight when we arrived at Aloha Nohea Volcano cabin on a dark rainy night. This is such a charming place to stay and in a great location - within miles of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. We awoke to a fantasy of tropical plants surrounding the cabin. The cabin has everything you need - a kitchen fully equipped, washer/dryer, great bathroom. Very well designed and furnished with even the Big Dipper above the bedroom window. A definite stay for our next trip.

We stayed here for three nights during our two week vacation on the Big Island, and it killed us to leave after such a short time. Of the three houses we rented, this was our favorite. The house is open and naturally lit with skylights in all the rooms, making it only necessary to use the electric lights in the evening. The kitchen is large and completely stocked for cooking and eating, that is if you can force yourself to not go eat at the great restaurants in Volcano. We actually picked up food and brought it home, so we could enjoy both! The verdant rainforest comes right up to the house, so all the windows have picturesque views of the greenery. The bed was beyond comfortable, and you can't beat the fireplace for the cool nights. The lanai is large and perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee or local tea from the market while listening to the rain fall in the forest. We were happy to be just minutes from the park, since the Volcano House in the park is still closed for repairs. We drove out to the Jaggar observatory almost every night to admire the glow from Halemaumau. Hiked many trails during the day. The house is well located for maximum privacy. We felt so far away from the world while staying there. We plan on returning in the future, and hope that we will be fortunate enough to stay here again.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful place! Everything needed was there to make our stay comfortable. Love the outside deck and the soaking tub. Side by side reclining chairs in the living area so comfortable! As an aside, loved that only the minimum space needed for the cottage was cleared, so that the native forest is right there on every side. Will absolutely recommend this to friends and family for a Volcano getaway. Mahalo to the owners for sharing this little piece of paradise.

It had all that we needed -- it was so comfortable. It was VERY pretty to look at and the bathroom was huge. It was ust perfect!!!

This is such a nice property. It's very quiet, very private, very clean and lovingly maintained. It's gorgeous inside with lots of hardwood. There is a large washer/dryer set, which was critical for us. The owners are very nice and it is incredibly reasonably-priced. My only recommendation if you stay here is to arrive during daylight hours. It is difficult to find the key and maneuver your car when you're unfamiliar with the property and you arrive when it is dark. We enjoyed ourselves very much. If we could have carted this place with us across the entire island, we would have. We spent 2 and 3 times as much on the other places we stayed at across the island and they weren't as nice as this place... they just had extraordinary water views. And since there's no water in this area, a water view wasn't a factor when we selected this property.

A special stay awaits you at the end of the road when you stay in this cozy cottage in the forest of huge ferns and big trees. The knotty pine interior makes a peaceful background for sitting in front of the fire, cooking in the well furnished kitchen and sleeping in a very comfortable bed. It was cool and misty outside but we were snug. Remember you are at 4000 feet.......and bring a warm jacket. Thank you for sharing your cottage with us.

We stayed at this wonderful cottage for an anniversary trip. It was beautiful!! The location was convenient for exploring the national park. It was also an easy drive to the Hilo area. Everything about the cottage was beautiful. It was well stocked with anything you might need to cook a meal and it was also convenient to have the laundry facilities available. We have raved about this wonderful cottage to family and friends when we tell them about our trip to the Big Island. We can't wait to go back!

Location was convenient from highway and instructions given to reach location great. The surroundings to the rental were lush with tropical ferns and the cabin beautiful. The cabin was perfect for two with comfortable rocking & reclining chairs for relaxation. Our purpose for staying at this location was to hike the volcano trails. The Sunday market was a highlight of our stay where we enjoyed food and art. We were lucky to see a pair of the native Hawaiian Nene geese with their goslings along the highway not far from Volcano Park turn off towards the Captain Cook area.

We began staying at the this cabin over 3 years ago. We both agree this is "our favorite place on earth" to stay. The cabin feels like "home" to us and provides every need during our stay on the Big Island. First class accommodations for a more than reasonable price. You cannot find a better option to stay on the Big Island! The ferns, the rainforest, and the cabin all come together to create your own piece of 'heaven on earth'.

This cabin is a little slice of heaven in the middle of a beautiful rainforest. The amenities are wonderful and is nothing short of first class. The location is great for all activites on the island...just a quick 10 minute drive to Volcano National Park, 45 min to Hilo, and a beautifully scenic 2 hour drive over to Kona with wonderful snorkeling at Cook Monument. And don't miss the market at Cooper Center Sunday mornings...FABULOUS! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to visit again!!
Owner response:So happy to hear how much our cabin was loved. Just wanted to say though the drie to the Volcano Nation Park is no more than 2 min as we are right there in Volcano Village, and From hilo airport its a 35 min drie to our cabin. Having the pleasure of having lived on the island, I too agree the SUNDAY Farmes Market - is the BEST i have ever found or attended.

We had a fabulous time in Hilo and so much of that had to do with our lovely cabin! it was such a pleasure to come "home" each evening and just relax in front of the fireplace and then to wake up amidst lush forest visible thru the many lovely windows. i feel the rates were fair and amenities plentiful. we would certainly return here and recommend others try it out. Thanks! My only recommendation would be to include the directions to the local stores/restaurants in the welcome email.
Owner response:Our Welcome Letter is so packed full of great info i dont want to overload couples that our just there for a short time. We have a link on our web site to Hilo town for this type of information and couples can always ask us in advance for that type of info and i can forward it to them befor their arrival so that while on island you can really relax.

We loved every aspect of the cabin. It was very clean and well-decorated. The ammenities were also very much appreciated. Immediately upon arriving on our first night, we filled up the tub and took a nice long soak while enjoying a glass of wine. We also loved the soft white robes - we wore them every morning and every evening. Between the robes and the fireplace we were always quite warm and cozy. The location was very private yet convenient for exploring Hilo, Volcano and the southern part of the island. Our only regret is that we did not plan to stay longer. Mahalo for a great stay!

Mahalo! Genevieve and Dennis, for such a fantastic end to our honeymoon. Your beautiful cabin was perfect in everyway. So peaceful and serene. The remote feel of the tropical rainforest setting, yet minutes away from Vocano Park where we had several days of exploring. It was great to come home to the soaking tub each night!! We hghly reccomend this to anyone looking for a wonderfully private place to stay near the Volcano. We only hope we can get back here soon, as three nights is just not long enough. We had a wonderful stay at the Aloha Nohea Volcano Cabin. We stayed in two different rentals and yours was by far our favorite. It was clean and very nice. It had everything in it and for our 4 night stay it felt like our own place. One of our bags had been held up due to security checks and we didn't have it for one night. I couldn't believe it when I found a tripod for our camera in the cabin. Very much a detail we appreciated. It made a very wonderful 25th anniversery. When we decide to come back to the area we will definately check the availability of this cabin.

What a wonderful cabin this is! We enjoyed part of our honeymoon in August 2007 there, and can't speak highly enough of it. The setting is perfect for instant access to Volcanoes National Park, and the cabin itself is just beautiful. It was fantastic to be able to lie in bed and watch the stars above you through the window. The bathroom is totally amazing also. Just returned from a very nice combination business/pleasure trip to the Big Island. We stayed two nights at the cabin and were very impressed. Incredibly relaxing and quiet. I heard a dog barking in the distance one afternoon but otherwise nothing but the sounds of light rain on the roof and birds when it was sunny. Yet a very short drive to "town". Cabin itself is as others have described. Very cozy. Very clean. Everything you need and more - satellite TV, wireless internet, etc. No issues at all. We ended up using the cabin as our base for exploring this side of the island and it worked out well. Mahalo

We just returned from our first visit to the Big Island, and two nights at your beautiful cabin. We were looking for a quiet, affordable place near the Volcano. Your cabin greatly exceeded all of our expectations! The photos on VRBO do not do it justice!! The cabin was beautiful, covered in hard wood with recessed lighting everywhere. The bathroom was superb - the soaking tub was great after a long day hiking at VNP. Everything felt so cozy, and the decor was well coordinated giving the place a homey feel. We loved the large windows everywhere that allowed a great view into the peaceful tropical forest. We also enjoyed having our coffee each morning on the comfy covered back porch. The entire cabin was immaculate upon our arrival, and equipped with everything we needed for a wonderful stay. Genevieve was very helpful in offering advice on where to go to see lava flowing (which we did - AMAZING!). We'll gladly return our next visit to the Volcano, and we'll happily refer our friends. Mahalo for a wonderful stay.

We found ourselves making mental notes as well as photos of the place so we could build our next home like the cabin! It was a steal for the money! Our only complaint was that the town wasn't awake when we were! Doesn't everyone want breakfast at 7AM EST?!?!? What a beautiful memory! Thanks sooo much. We would definately stay again!!!!!!
