Everyone has a different reason for loving Paris, and this apartment on the rue du Temple is the perfect place from which to do it all. Situated in the Marais, this apartment is just four blocks from the Picasso Museum and two from the Centre Pompidou; modern art is at your doorstep. If shopping is your love, the cutting edge shops in the rue des Franc Bourgeois are just down at the next corner and Les Halles district is just across rue Beaubourg.
On rue Rambuteau, a two minute walk, all the food we go to Paris for can be found in a single block
* a boulanger artisanal for your bread and pastries, traiteurs for those amazing sausages and patés.
* one of the few remaining poissoniers still going for fresh fish and oysters, a great wine shop.
* oh, and a chocolaterie for a quick boost after exploring the city!
The Seine whispers past the Hotel de Ville at the bottom of your street and the small streets and squares of the Marais itself offer a sense of what Paris must have been like before the arrival of the Champs Elysées and the 19th century grands boulevards.
The apartment is a charming mix of modern and ancient Paris. With a new kitchen and modern bath, it’s decorated in contemporary French design but located in a building built in the 17th century. You enter the building via a half-timbered entryway paved with flagstones, take three flights of stairs and then enter into a modern, light-filled home. At 39 square meters (around 450 square feet), the apartment is perfect for two people and well laid-out. The built-in closet even creates a small entry hall.
The rue du Temple is buzzing during the day, but the flat is at the back of the building overlooking quiet landscaped gardens: the rumble of the city is a world away. All the furnishings are new, the linens pure cotton and most of the artwork original. The kitchen runs just off the salon, and is fully-equipped with microwave/conventional oven and even a washing machine.
Here you can relax in the evening, entertain for six or just have a quick recharge before heading back out to all Paris has to offer. The sofa is a pull-out bed as well, so you can even have a guest or two. Tired of walking? Metro stop Rambuteau is one block away, and Etienne Marcel (a direct line to Gare du Nord and so to London and Charles de Gaulle airport) is just a few more minutes down the same road.
Every visit to Paris brings new discoveries in the City of Light. This apartment has let us do everything from collapsing after a day out to actually cooking with some of those herbs we always saw in the market! Whether on your first visit to Paris or your tenth, enjoy your own little chez vous, and still be close enough to walk where you want to go!
