My wife and I stayed at this condo unit from April 16 to 25. In summary, we liked this place for the ambience and location. We are somewhat of a neat freak so our review below might be bordering to the side of being nitpicky. Whatever negative observations we do mention below are overridden by its positive aspects. One important feedback that needs to be mentioned is Rob's (owner) timely response to all of our emails. he is a superb communicator and he will always aim to please his clients. If you have any issues or problems, we are sure Rob will come up with a solution that will be fair and reasonable. Now this is what I call service. The description of the location is accurate. The condo building is right at the Papaoneone or Turtle Beach at West Oahu (bordering Makaha and Waianae). This beach is one of the top 5 beaches in Oahu. The condo unit is located in a nice neighborhood. Very quiet and laid back, far from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu. It is on the 8th floor (almost top level) so you have a very nice view of the beach area and very breezy! The photos in this listing generally describe the condo. However, when we stayed there, it seems that the unit needs a refresh. It is a bit tired but still OK. It comes with all that is mentioned in its listing with a bit more extras. We especially love the crosswind that blows through the living room windows and out through the bedroom patio doors. The condo unit is clean but it could use a good cleaning. Some people might find this comment nitpicky but it is just us. For the value and location, we are quite happy with this find. The bed and sofa bed are in good condition and very comfy. It will be best to rent a car from the airport when you fly in if you are staying out in Makaha/Waianae. There is local bus service but having a vehicle makes travelling very convenient. There is a supermarket (Tamura) close by and a good hole-in-the-wall restaurant called "BBQ Kai". There are several 7-Elevens along Farrington Highway and one that is walking distance to the condo. If you want to go diving, Captain Bruce's and Ocean Concepts are just at the Waianae Dock area (few minutes away). They dive areas in West Oahu. Forays into Honolulu must be timed to avaoid rush hour traffic. We definitely will recommend friends and family to consider this condo unit when they are planning to visit Oahu. Again, for the great value and location, it is hard to beat!

Turtle Cove

Regarding The listing description was accurate. It is an ideal spot where I would return and recommend to anyone who love swimming and walking. The water is calm and clean, no weeds. The building is well maintained and there is an excellent system for showering after the beach. I felt pretty secured on this property, the staff and neighbors were very friendly. I am very pleased with my choice. Being on the eight floor, the view was beautiful. The sound of pounding waves put you to sleep, also buries the traffic noise. We ate at Quoqittos for lunch, the staff was very amiable. The rent was fair for such a lovely location. There were a few minor aspects to be improved on: the fridge, and the air vent in the bathroom, for the rest, it was very good, you can see the owner takes care of his property. I will recommend Makaha Beach Cabanas to all of my friends. Thank you very much. Lyse

Aloha Rob, This was our 2nd time staying at your condo and will be back. We especially loved the new table/chairs you've put out on the lanai - I think we spent more time out there than inside. Aloha Rob! Mark and I had the time of our lives for our anniversary week there. You have a beautiful cabana and the perfect location in the building. We loved how you set up the high table and chairs! We spent the majority of our time turtle watching on the lanai. One day we saw around 30 to 40 turtles. We enjoyed the snorkeling, also. You provided us with great amenities. We like the spa look to the shower in the bathroom so much that we are planning on remodeling ours to look like that. Yes, we plan to come back soon. We took many photos and some of our friends are eager to go there, too. I loved how that cove still looks the same as 12 years ago and that there were just a minimal number of people on the beach the entire time, as it was before. It's still very much undiscovered Paradise. Thank you again, so much for making this an unforgettable anniversary for us! Mahalo, Linda & Mark

Hi Rob, It's been less than a week since we returned from our stay in Makaha, and I can't tell you how much we miss it! The unit was clean, convenient, had AMAZING views, and there's nothing like falling asleep to the sound of the waves below. It was perfect for our honeymoon (and for me, as a photographer!) We certainly wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!

The beach was beautiful. The waves were fun and peaceful to listen to at night. We drove all over the Island about 500 miles, and this was one of the best beaches. All the rest were too crowded! The sunsets were awsome!!!

We stayed at this condo from 1/21/09 - 1/28/00. We come to Hawaii yearly to escape from the Alaska winters. This time our goal was to stay on Oahu and explore this island so this was the perfect "base camp" for us. Our check-in time was 3pm. When we arrived the cleaning lady was still there and wasn't finished until 5. That was ok but she had told us that the place had just been "bombed" because the prior rental folks had left pizza boxes which attracted a lot of bugs. There were still bugs the entire time we were there. Liveable, but not real desirable. There were 3 fins, dirty masks and snorkels which we declined to use. Other than that, the condo was just fine and perfect for our needs. No air conditioning was necessary as the breeze coming from the shore was perfect. Everything we needed was provided - lots of linens and cookware. Security of the building was great. The laundry room was great to have on the premises as well. First come, first serve, which can get a little crowded at times. Great beach - got to swim with the turtles, which was just awesome!! And loved the evening "conch chorus" who regaled us at sunset. This area is not the "best" on the island - lots of homeless on the neighboring beaches but no problems. We would rent here again.

The condo was perfect. Definitely money well spent. It was absolutely beautiful, serene, and relaxing. It's away from the hustle and bustle. The neighbors and management were very friendly. All the ammenities of home, just bring your clothes... the grocery store is just down the road, so you can save $ cooking in the privacy of your own place. We will definitely go back and stay again. I recommend this condo to every I know that goes to HI.

Fantastic views from sunny condo

I had a fab time staying here, the views are awesome and its true you are looking at turtles everyday. There is no air conditioning at the property but you can leave the doors open that lead onto the lania and the sea brings a cool breeze. The View from the lania is well worth the rental price alone its Fantastic. I loved watching the sunset everynight and got some wicked photos. overall loved the property and location - the beach is used by the locals so therefore no hassle and only about 10 people out there during the day fantastic!!

We went to Oahu in April/May. This condo is located at an excellent beach, where we can see sea turtle almost every evening. The security looks good and nice. The condo itself is clean. We had lots of fun there.

The condo was fantastic and it lived up to all the great things we had read. Beautiful beach and sunsets, turtles, uncrowded...everything you could ever ask for. The beach is 100x better than some other resort beaches closer to Honolulu. My girlfriend and I got engaged on the lanai since the view of the sunset is unbeatable. Absolutely unforgettable and we will definitely be back soon.

We had a fabulous time! We snorkeled with Turtles! The sunsets were spectacular! I would definitely stay there again. There is not a lot of night life or tourist activities on this part of the island, if you want to relax on the beach, this is the place.

We stayed at this condo for 2 weeks as a family of 4. We had enough space and all the things you might think to need on a holiday... boggie boards, snorkle stuff , beach chairs, and towels. The beach sunsets are stunning... This 8th floor unit allows for views of sea turtles daily-Whales and dolphins... we would stay here again in a heartbeat. If you are looking for a quiet spot away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki...this is it. Hardly anyone on the beach to bother you and the gated community is very clean as is the Unit. This is a perfect away from it all condo. We(2 adults, 2 kids) stayed 2 weeks in Jan 2008 This property offers all the basic essentials, in a clean and safe environment, all you need for a great holiday in hawaii. The Lanai has a great view of sunsets, whales, and green turtles we even saw a pod of dolphins go by! Fun to watch the residents and their evening conch ceramonies. I would go back and stay here in a heart beat. Mahalo Rob.

My husband and I stayed here from 12/2/07-12/9/07. The condo was absolutley amazing! It was very clean, and has everything you need. It was very quiet and peaceful. The views were breath taking. We could see whales and sea turtles from our lanai. A sea turtle even swam within 10 feet of us while we were playing in the ocean. The condo has great facilities: BBQ area, laundry, etc. The manager, maintence workers and security are all very friendly. We happened to be in Hawaii when a BIG storm hit. The owner was wonderful. He wanted to make sure we were ok, and see if we needed anything. He was genuinely concerned about us. Thank you again, Robb! We are bringing our kids back to Hawaii, and will definately stay here again! We were very happy with this property and would recommend it to everyone!

We very much enjoyed our week in the condo. The secluded beach was so wonderful and we loved listening to the waves at night, the best lullaby you can imagine! The west side of the Island has some questionable characters but the security at the Cabanas seemed to be good. It also was very easy to access any point on Oahu from here, generally within an hour. We would defintely stay here again.

Our 7 days and 6 nights were terrific. This condo was a real delight and just like in the picture! We had everything we needed and would definitely stay here again when returning to Makaha for the awesome surfing!!

The suite is updated, clean and secure. With excellent views over a private beach. Golf course is only 5 min away. Robert is easy to deal with and answered all my questions. I would highly recommend this suite as its on the 8th floor of a nine story building.

We stayed in unit 815 for 7 days and had a wonderful time. The view is magnificant and the condo is nicely rennovated. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and discovered the beauty of the west side of Oahu. We recommend this condo to any and all who are interested in being RIGHT ON THE BEACH!!

This location is a great getaway from the typical wall to wall tourists of Waikiki. Beautiful uncrowded beach. Slept great on a good bed and loved hearing the ocean waves all night! The view from the balcony during the day of the blue water and spectacular sunsets in the evening made everything perfect. Very comfortable living area with everything needed. Mahalo Rob!
