This beautiful vacation home was completed February 15, 2007. It was designed with the Hawaiian plantation architecture in mind. It has beautiful bamboo flooring in the kitchen, great room and master bedroom. There is a wet bar with a wine cooler in the great room. It has ceramic tile in all three bathrooms and carpet in the two other bedrooms.
All three bedrooms have exterior doors that open to the wrap around deck or lanai, offering privacy and easy access for all guests. The spacious lanai has a panoramic view of the ocean and the wrap around deck gives you plenty of outdoor living space. The house has a cupola with sloped ceilings for superior ventilation and a very open feeling. The furniture and décor is new with a lovely island theme.
The kitchen has everything you need for preparing meals. Enjoy the beautiful cabinetry and granite slab countertops. There is a washer and dryer for your use. The home is situated adjacent to and views the historic Hakalau plantation manager's mansion built in 1910.

Surf at nearby Hakalau Bay, Kolekole beach park, or Honolii beach park, Visit the beautiful Akaka Falls only minutes away, Browse the shops of the quaint art colony of Honomu or enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the cafes, only one mile away, Visit the Volcano National Park only 45 minutes away, Visit Waimea town with it's famous Parker Ranch only 40 minutes away. Visit Hilo town with its museums, restaurants, theaters, farmer's market, shops and galleries only 15 miles away. Drive to Mauna Kea to visit the observatory and visitor center less than an hour away. Experience the zip-line through the jungle at Hawi about 45 minutes away. Horseback ride or ATV in the Waipio valley about 30 minutes to the north.

The Unique Benefits at this House
We enjoy so many things about the Hamakua Coast: the warm tropical climate, swimming in Hakalau River or Kolokole beach park, surfing at Waipio or Honolii beaches, snorkeling at the Richardson beach or Kapoho tidepools, browsing the Hilo Farmers Market for delicious fruits,vegetables and sometimes other goodies like fresh fish. We love the "Old Hawaii" feel of the area, where the locals are so friendly, courteous and helpful. This area truly exemplifies the Aloha spirit.

Rick and Faith live in San Diego County. Rick is a landscape contractor who studied ornamental horticulture in college. Faith is the district nurse for a large school district. They have always enjoyed traveling. Their favorite destinations are Hawaii and Lake Tahoe. They hope to eventualy retire in their home on the Hamakua Coast, where they love the laid back lifestyle, natural beauty and tropical weather.
