We call our family home the "Lake House" and it is a fabulous lakefront house for family vacations! We hope that since we cannot enjoy it as often as we would like, that this quiet residential neighborhood will afford your family a wonderful experience. It offers an 80 foot shoreline, free of weeds and rocks, for the kids to enjoy swimming, and the property has a private dock where you can either bring or rent a pontoon boat or jet skis for your use while here. Local rental companies will deliver right to the lake. Sit down by the lake and just enjoy the view and the breeze, or gather with the family at night by the fire pit.
This is a true lake house; bedrooms that open out onto a deck overlooking the lake where you can enjoy the sun coming up. There are 4 bedrooms on the street level, each with a queen, and one has two twins. Two full bathrooms and a laundry room are also on this floor.
On the lake level, everything is with your family's needs in mind. The large kitchen has a view of the lake, and the family room area takes up the entire lake level of the property. There is ample dining space inside and out for your entire family to eat at one time. A dining table for 6-8, chairs around the kitchen bar, and a picnic table and other chairs outside on the patio.
The large family room area is for lounging, entertainment and additional sleeping area, with the room separated by a floor to ceiling stone fireplace; another half-bath is on this floor. 27 inch cable TV, DVD/VCR and video library are included for your pleasure as well as high speed internet for catching up with things at the office.
A large gas grill is located outside with additional seating. A canoe is offered for the adults to take out for a sunset or early morning cruise, where you will be able to hear the sounds of the loons or see an occasional bald eagle.
The home is located on a quiet peninsula, just 12 minutes from downtown Traverse City, on 1,930 acre all-sports Duck Lake. You are very close to all outdoor activities in the area but you may not want to leave to go anywhere. Surrounded by lake views all around, with tennis courts and toddler park, you may want just to enjoy the scenery and a quiet walk or bike ride around the peninsula.
The area offers 27 fine golf courses and over 18 wineries, antique shops, small quaint villages to visit and all kinds of water sports at West Bay in Traverse City. Take a Tall Ship sunset or cocktail cruise, a noon catamaran trip, parasail over the Bay, or take a stroll through beautifully restored and maintained Traverse City with its gaslight district feel, small boutiques, lively restaurants and pub's.
For sports enthusiasts, Beach Bum's baseball is here in a beautiful new stadium and there are all kinds of bike and cross-country races, and for the kids, there are water parks, miniature golf, bumper cars and wonderful places on West Bay to play in the sand all day. Interlochen Center for the Arts is located only 5 minutes away from the house and they have outstanding summer concerts by great artists and musicians.
Crystal Mountain Ski Resort is only 25 minutes from the house, and you can snowmobile a hundred miles within the Grand Traverse groomed trails. And don't miss booking far in advance to spend Thanksgiving or Christmas with your family at Duck Lake. There's a special magic here with the lake all lit up for the holidays with snow on the ground. Festivities and sporting events abound all year long in the Traverse City area as well as winery tours, so book early also if you have a large crowd.
