We just returned home from a weeks stay at Sunset View. It was our 2nd time staying there and the Chalet is absolutely beautiful ! We spent our honeymoon there last year and returned for our 1st anniversary this year. The road leading to the Chalet is a little rough,but once you get there you won't be disappointed. The Chalet is exactly as described and the view is amazing. We were a little disappointed that the gas fireplace wasn't available as it was at the same time last year,but Dave explained to us that because some visitors misused the fireplace,it is necessary to shut it off in the spring. Thank you Dave and Susan for allowing us to stay in you wonderful mountain home .

Owner response:I guess we need to call the HOA and have them grade the road. Sorry about the fireplace but when uncaring guest put the fireplace on when they run the air condition we need to shut it off. We try to keep our rental cost down but paying for propane is costly.

This was my first time to Tennessee and me and my husband decided to go to the mountains for our honeymoon. When we first arrived at the chalet and looked at the view we thought it was breathtaking. As we walked in the doors it was so nice it felt so relaxing. We enjoyed our stay there. See we have three children so we don't really get a chance to relax so this was so nice for us to relax in the hot tub. I couldnt have picked a better place to stay. All I can say is the place is beautiful. I hope to return again. I would recommend this place to everyone.

The description for this property is very precise, in fact the description does not serve it justice enough! Upon arrival we were greeted by wild turkey in the front yard and in the chalet, a beautiful and clean decor with a "just like home" feel and a fresh clean smell. The kitchen was fully equipped with cooking essentials and a gas grill with plenty of fuel. The hot tub was fantastic at a relaxing 106 degrees and found ourselves missing it when we got home. After a soak in the hot tub we enjoyed a cold delicious frosty malt beverage on the deck while taking in the scenery and enjoying the sounds of absolute peace. Dave and Susan were readily available and even contacted us during our stay to see if we any questions or concerns and how we were enjoying our stay. We recommend this VRBO to anyone wanting to get away from it all or drive a few minutes down the road for endless fun and entertainment.

Loved it!! The wine and cheese tray and chocalote was a surprize for him that i wanted! We had snow sunday night it was so quite!!! We come to Tennessee some times 6 times ayear..will keep this one for futer stays!!! We give it a 10###!!!. So off the path our Garmin couldnt find it!!!! Had to do it the old way (READ THE DIRECTIONS)!!!!

As previously stated in other reviews, the photos of this property do not do it justice....this is a perfect place to stay, beautifully decorated and meticulously clean. I have stayed at numerous properties around the Gatlinburg area, homes offered by resorts, real estate agencies and private owners, this is no doubt the nicest. Absolutely loved it.

We had an awesome honeymoon at your chalet. It was perfect! The pictures online do not do the chalet justice. After reading the guest book we got several great food/adventure ideas that made our stay more enjoyable, thanks for the tips. You guys have a beautiful place and are so kind. WOW!! That's exactly what we said when we arrived. Better than the pictures show. This is a great place to enjoy the mountains without the rustic feel that some other locations have. Warm, private and relaxing...exactly what we were looking for. Can't wait to go back!

A Wonderful Week

Everything was wonderful and just like the owners portray it to be. We were snowed in with 6-8 inches but that just added to the experience. With 2 gas fireplaces, the hot tub and the tankless hot water system, we didn't WANT to leave. The owners advised us to get chains for the car when the winter storm warning was posted prior to our arrival. We were glad to have taken their advice. It is a very private location in a developed community so there is a 24 hour guard shack on the grounds if their had been an emergency. It is an ideal place to celebrate an anniversary or honeymoon, but we would feel comfortable taking our children there as well. The owners truly make you feel like you are their guests and not a "renter". The Chalet is decorated like a second home and not like a rental investment. We couldn't have been more pleased.

Hi Dave, I never did have the chance to get back with you after our trip this January. As you know, I'm in nursing school and so my life stays pretty busy. With Brian just getting out of the Marine Corps, it has been a whirlwind for the both of us. At any rate, we had an amazing time at your chalet. It was absolutely gorgeous! Everything was so cozy and tucked away. We just can't begin to tell you how romantic and wonderful our stay was. It was the perfect getaway! And we got lots of snow, which was a plus! Again, thank you so much for giving us such a great deal and allowing us the opportunity to stay there. If it wasn't for your generosity, I wouldn't have been able to afford such a great, and much needed vacation with my loved one. We really hope to book it again for next year and stay even longer! Hello David and Susan, First of all - your home is lovely. The decor is perfect. Designed for comfort and beauty. You have great taste. This is not just a run of the mill mountain chalet. We really like it here and the view is becoming brilliant (orange, gold, red yellow). WOW! You may have seen we had some weather this morning - lost power for awhile, but was very quickly restored. That was nice - and watching the storm from here is very interesting. The mountains disappeared - then returned :). No damage to your home - although a tree did come down in the vacant lot across the road. And, several small limbs down - we have those picked up.

Hi Dave & Susan, We enjoyed our stay at the chalet! We loved the decor, and the kids enjoyed the playstation, pool table and hot tub. Everything we needed was there so there was no need to leave just relax. The pictures do NOT do this place justice, the views were amazing! The chalet was spotless not even a speck of dust, I felt at home while we were there. We will definitely be coming back for more! My family and I just returned from our trip snd we had a fantastic time. The Sunset View Chalet was beautiful and was clean as a whistle and very comfortsble. The mountain views were breathe taking and surounding areas were peaceful, making for the perfect vacation spot!! We stayed in Shagbark October of 2007. It's a gated community so not alot of cars driving around. These are some of the prettiest mountains outside the park. The cabin we rented was up on top of a mountain and had a spectacular view. I've stayed in a few other spots in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge and I would definately recommend Shagbark. I am planning on returning to Shagbark this fall. We rented a cabin with Sunset Cottages back in '96 it was very nice. Hope this helps!

Dave, I just wanted to thank you so much for letting us stay at your beautiful chalet. We had a great time and we were so comfortable we did not want to leave the chalet. I just can’t say enough about your home. We got to go hiking at Roaring Fork and visit Gatlinburg (loved it) and we also went to Dollywood. We had the best time and we hope to go back again next year.
