I could not be happier with my stay here! I stayed with four other adults (3 females in their early 20s, 1 male in his late 20s), and we had a perfect time. There was plenty of space, everything was clean, and we were close to restaurants, shops, etc. There were bikes available for us to use as well as kayaks, which were in great condition. We took out the kayaks multiple times, and while we didn't see any manatees, we had a great time. Crackers, a waterfront restaurant, was nearby as well as an ice cream shop, a dive shop, and the downtown area. The property was central to just about everything, however, it could be hard for people without a car to get around. Pete, the owner, answered all of my questions promptly and did everything he could to reassure me about renting from him, as this was my first time doing any sort of VRBO. I cannot wait to return to this property again.

My husband, sister, brother-in-law, and I spent 8 great days just relaxing, kayaking, swimming. We ventured out to the Rainbow River for a 4 mile float, The Archeological reserve, Homossassa State Park (beautiful boat ride to get into the park) and rode bikes along the 47 miles trail by Inverness. The condo was well stocked, comfortable, and we really enjoyed the grapefruits out back. We ventured over to Crackers in the kayaks (supplied with the condo), tied right up to the dock and had lunch. We went to the beach at Dixie Bay - beautiful. I definitely would recommend this to my family.

If you are looking for a place to swim or kayak with the manatees, then this is the place to stay. It was closer than we thought. We were a very short kayak or swim from the entrance to 3 Sisters Springs. We brought our own kayaks, but the ones available seemed to be in great condition. Our kids were excited to see the Orange tree. The neighbors and locals are very friendly. Close to restaurants, grocery store, tour groups etc. Personally, I don't think a tour group is needed since you are right at the Springs. Our kids swam in the springs without wet suits. They were cold, but weren't in the water long. They preferred viewing from the kayaks. Our only regret, we didn't bring our bicycles, but it's a great place to go for a run. Our children (13 and 9) were smiling the entire trip and our lab also enjoyed a kayak ride (our kayaks) to the Springs. She even received cheers from the neighbors across the canal when she started her voyage, since this was her first kayak trip. Great place and town. My son is already asking when we will go back!

What a great place and great location !! I spoke with Pete the day after we arrived and told him how impressed we were with the condo. I've coming to Crystal River since the mid 1970's and have stayed at many hotels in the area, this is my first condo visit. It was without a doubt the best experience I've ever had in the area ! Thanks again Pete, looking foward to coming back again soon !!!

Note to readers of reviews – do not pay attention to someone who will not sign his review. This is an exceptional rental unit. While it is not new, it is fully updated and modern, everything was clean, in working order, and the unit was very spacious. It is ideal for two couples or a small family and everything you need is available. If you are staying indoors, you have 100’s of channels to surf, free. If you are outdoors, you have free use of two kayaks and you are right on the water. That is an enormous savings from having to rent your own. And being right at the Three Sister’s Springs, you do not have to pay to have one of the tours take you there. The amenities are fabulous and the price is amazing and you can even pick your morning grapefruit right in your own back yard. Should you run into a problem, there is someone who lives in one of the units all year who can assist and if you are reasonable and pleasant, your neighbours will be the same as in any hotel, motel, condo sharing arrangement. This was one of the most relaxing, invigorating, and exploratory vacations we have had in over 20 years of going to Florida. Crystal River area is a fantastic place to visit. We spent 10 days and would go back in a heartbeat.

My family came to Crystal River to see and learn about the West Indies Manatee and we were not disappointed. We really had a great time in Crystal River and our experience with the manatees far exceeded my expectations! My son and I got to interact with them on several occasions and it was an experience that we will never forget. The springs are beautiful and the snorkeling was fantastic! The condo was fabulous and fulfilled all of our needs. It was spacious and clean, in a quiet neighborhood, and just around the corner from the Crystal River Wildlife Refuge Intreprative Center and Three Sisters Springs. It was really nice to be so close to Three Sisters Springs and be able to kayak or swim over when we wanted. It was also convientent to shopping, resturants, etc. We really enjoyed meeting the other guests at Driftwood Villas while we were there.Everyone had their dogs with them and we all socialized in the beautiful backyard under the citrus tree.It was also great having the kayaks available at no extra charge. The neighbors and everyone we met in Crystal River were so friendly. We were even invited to a free Bluegrass concert by an award winning group at a local church. We want to return again because we had such a great time!

We were very disappointed in this condo and don't know how it was rated so high.. It needed major deep cleaning and upgrade on furniture.(It was stained and looked very dirty). We have rented many houses/condos in the past, not all of them were new, but they were clean!!! This place had dirty walls, doors, light switches, and in the kitchen- fridge, drawers, cabinets, etc. were disgusting. We had to go buy cleaning products so we could feel some what comfortable staying there for a couple of weeks. The kayaks were also in poor shape. There wasn't any privacy outdoors on our patio; no separation between your neighbors. I usually don't write reviews, but I do read them, and didn't want other people being shammed like we were .Our two other condo neighbors felt the same way we did; they bought amonia when they arrived to clean their condo! We also had electical / wi-fi problems but the owner did work with us over a few days to resolve these issues. Our unit seriously needed a refreshing update with better lighting, furniture, etc.

Owner response: We are disappointed in this review after all we did to accommodate this very difficult elderly guest. Her husband called ahead of time and booked our pet friendly unit and told us his wife is a "germ phobic" and required "special cleaning needs". Our professional cleaning service was up for the challenge and did an over the top cleaning (steam cleaned furniture, carpets, comforters and baseboards and bleached everything!) I personally inspected the property prior to their arrival. I met with her husband after they checked in who said everything was in order. The internet went down during their stay which we immediately responded to and corrected, the electrical issue she mentioned we corrected was in another unit. We provide the direct number in each unit to the owner of the cleaning service to personally take care of any issues that are missed during the cleaning. We received no feedback from them during their stay (no news is good news). They did not disclose their 100lb dog to our surprise (our weight limit is 60lb) and they were not very responsible pet owners by leaving poo in the common areas, we returned their deposit although they broke several of our pet policy rules. We welcome constructive feedback to help us get better; We hope you read the other reviews, which are filled with 5 years of positive feedback. Our goal is to provide a clean, secure, waterfront vacation rental in a good location with features enjoyed by most. As long as we can continue to provide a positive vacation experience for 99.9% of our guests, we will continue to work hard to impress the remaining .1%.

My husband and I stayed at this property for a long weekend just before Christmas and we had the most relaxing vacation we have ever had! We brought our older GSD with us (it is very difficult finding lodging that will accept larger dogs) and everything was amazing. Pete was working on the boat dock when we pulled up and he immediately let us know that if there was anything that needed attention or if we had any questions that we could call him. This was by far our best and most relaxing vacation and we loved it so much that we are bringing our parents down to have this same experience!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay in May. Without a doubt, this was everything we had hoped for and more, with the kayaks included. The springs are very closeby and amazing. We left the TV off and enjoyed exploring the nearby natural sights, fun places to eat, and sunsets. Everything is so convenient. We hope to come back again. The owner was very cordial and a pleasure to work with. This is one of those places you'll be glad you found and want to keep secret.

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon to the understated Driftwood Villlas entrance. Upon entering we found a clean spacious condo, with a beautiful view of the canal. Initially the tide was low and we did not know what to expect of the wildlife in the canal. Within a few hours of arriving, we saw our first manatee swim past our dock. We were hooked. We embarked on the kayaks that are provided with the rental, (a huge plus since this gives you free access to all of the waterways, without the expense, hassle or time to rent ) We paddled to the end of the canal and immediately saw more manatee. It didn't take long to ease out of the kayak and into the water with the manatee. Their gentle ways and the beauty of the waterways and three sisters spring were one of the most relaxing effects I have ever had on a vacation. We kayaked, fished and swam/snorkeled everyday. We saw Manatee, Dolphin, Egret, Bald Eagles and fish. One fish, called a mullet, jumps through the air as it makes its way up the canal. At night, the water is so clear, we shined flashlights into the water off the docks and saw crabs. We were able to walk through the quiet neighborhoods and enjoy the beautiful homes as well as the wildlife. Being able to cook in the fully equipped kitchen at the condo, saved us lots of $$$. There were also charcoal grills and smokers to use as well. This allowed us to spend money on a fishing charter. (We put the card for the charter in the book of things to do provided at the condo) We caught lots of grouper and enjoyed a delicious meal prepared at the condo that evening. The condo is only a 90 minute ride from Disney and Universal Studios. We spent one entire day touring Universal, so this would make a wonderful alternative to staying in Orlando. The clean understated nature of the condo, the kayaks and the location are all reasons we will be visiting again. I would highly recommend this condo to anyone looking for a vacation spot.

This was a great location! It was in a quiet neighborhood and with the canal running behind, it was a nice setting. Having the kayaks to use was great. The last day we were there, after giving up hope of seeing a manatee, there was one that appeared and played with us. Quite an experience! The springs were nice and easy to kayak too. Neighbors were very friendly, but beware of the no-see-em's! The condo could of used more comfy seating but overall it was a nice time!!

My family and I stayed in unit #4 over the weekend of July 4th, 2009. It is in a great location, complete with a covered boat dock and lots of decking to fish or swim off of. Three Sister's Springs was a short distance away and one of the most beautiful spots we have ever seen. The condo itself was very nice and clean, complete with everything you could want. The outside patio was nice and comfortable. We will plan to stay the next time we are in Crystal River.

Great place, manatee 50ft from dock. Kayaks were such a nice bonus, renting one is about $50 a day, well maintained comfortable home. Plan on going back in fall. Pete worked with us on about a 1 day notice. Thanks again, Avery

My family and I stayed here for four days in July of 2008. The condo is very well maintained with very comfortable beds. We loved having the kayaks to use every morning or to just swim down to Three Sisters. I would love to just move right in and spend my mornings sipping coffee overlooking the water. My daughter wants to come back in December to see more manatees. I have to agree with her and we'll be back, for sure!

Very clean, well-maintained place! Manatees right in the canal, and having the kayaks available to use was a wonderful bonus. Little things, like sugar and coffee filters in the cupboard, guidebooks and maps right there for you...these things make a place go from good to really, really wonderful!

We had a great week in Crystal River. The location of the townhouse was perfect. In a nice residential area, close to the Gulf, shopping and within kayaking or swimming distance to a beautiful natural spring. Even in July we were able to swim with the manatees! The condo is very clean and comfortable, and the owner was very helpful and easy to communicate with. This place is super for nature lovers who are looking for a laid-back vacation in Old Florida.

The condo was the perfect place for our vacation...Just the right size for the two of us...and our dog. It was very clean, and had some nice recent renovations. It has everything you need, especially in the kitchen. We actually saw some manatees come right by our dock! Our dog Dixie did a lot of swimming, and we went out for a couple of boat rides to see the manatees. Awesome! We plan to go back and spend some time there again next year!
