If you are looking for an affordable "all-inclusive" vacation spot this is the perfect place for you. Guests rave about the tranquil meadows and lakefront setting...but also love the activities provided by our through-the-woods neighbor, Sebasco Harbor Resort. Linens, cleaning and a resort guest pass are all included, so you don't even need to make beds when you arrive!

This sunny, charming and comfortable 1800's farmhouse, lovingly maintained through the years, features updated furnishings, fresh paint and new appliances. There is plenty of room for everyone to gather together for a blueberry pancake breakfast or a lobster feast (we will tell you where to pick the berries; where to buy lobster right off the boat!). And there is room for everyone to spread out, enjoying the porches, decks, lawns, perennial gardens, all with peaceful views of meadow and lake.

The downstairs layout includes a large eat-in kitchen, large dining room with ample seating for 8, large and comfortable living room with adjacent sitting room, plus full bathroom (tub only). Upstairs, there are 4 bedrooms plus another full bath (newly-tiled stall shower). The house is perfect for 1 or more families - or just you (shoulder season rates are a great value).

Looking for more activity? Sebasco Harbor Resort is just a short walk through the woods and there, in season, you can enjoy a unique sea-side pool, golf, tennis, spa, kayaking, boating, fitness, biking, children's programs as well as restaurants and seasonal events. There are weekly activities including softball and boat trips to Cundy's Harbor for lobster rolls, and the QuarterDeck, an old-fashioned arcade with bowling lanes, table tennis, pool and video games.

Just a 10-min. drive away, you will find world-class POPHAM BEACH, a hiking trail to SEAWALL BEACH over Morse Mountain, and HEAD BEACH at Small Point. The Phippsburg Land Trust also provides many HIKING TRAILS throughout the peninsula. BATH, too, is a wonderful small town on the Kennebec River, anchored by a friendly and walkable Front Street lined with restaurants and shops. And you can find Maine-grown produce on Saturday mornings at the riverfront farmer's market. Further afield, BRUNSWICK, home to Bowdoin College, and the FREEPORT outlets provide more diversion.

But mostly, we figure you will just enjoy relaxing on the farmhouse porch, sipping coffee as the sun rises over Mount Merritt, and dipping lobster in butter as the sunset reflects across Wat-tuh Lake. Email or call us! We would love to share our corner of the world with you.

P.S. "Shoulder seasons" in Maine - June, September, October - are truly superb and a great value. The summer crowds are still in school or back to work - and you'll have the beaches, trails, rivers, courses and courts all to yourself. The June leaves are bright green; the fall foliage is a spectacular range of red/orange/yellow. If you've never visited Maine in the off-season, you really should try it!

Owner's Map of Sebasco Estates

My husband Bill first came to Sebasco Lodge when he was 9 and, beginning with our honeymoon, we've been coming together to this area for 20 years. Our vacation spot became our full-time home 7 years ago and we love sharing the Red Farmhouse with visitors to Midcoast Maine. We are thrilled to hear how much fun our guests have when they escape here - beaching, hiking, biking, kayaking, golfing. Then there's the relaxing...everyone seems to revel in the tranquility of this place. If you come, you might run into us on the golf course, on the tennis courts, at the farmer's market...or just enjoying the ever-changing beauty of Maine's coastal scenery.

A Wonderful snd Life Confirming Visit

Guest: Matthew (Baltimore, Md.)
Date of Stay: 07/25/09 Review Submitted: 07/05/10

I first visited the Red Farmhouse about 5 seasons ago, and it was everything that "tranquility" should represent...in fact my visit to the farmhouse inspired me to consider Maine as a long term home...while that hasnt happened yet, my visits back to the farmhouse have been often...and Carol and Bill have treated us like family with each visit...they even allowed the place to stay open a week longer at the "end of season" to allow me to stay in late October...there is no bad month to visit this house and region...Maine, in rain or sun, in heat or cold...is the most beautiful place I've been..I leave a piece of me at the farmhouse each time I visit... I remember standing outside last year (Summer of 09) and gazing at skies so clear that the "Milky Way" was evident...the stars leaving me in awe of how miraculous the universe truly is...and after a moment, deep with the depths of that starlit sky, I saw a satellite rotating the earth in space! Truly, I saw a satellite...the sky is just that clear.. I have taken my mom there, I have visited with my in-laws and wife..in short, our traveling party has sometimes numbered about 12 of us, and even then, we had plenty of room... This "Old Red Farmhouse" has life to it, and it will change you as a person coming here even once...Instead of a review, I believe I could write a book based on my experiences and memories at this magical place.... Treat yourself to the experience...smell the air that will leave you breathless...watch the stars that will leave you in awe...walk on Popham and confirm to yourself, just how lucky you are to be alive!!!

Gorgeous fall vacation spot

Guest: Corey and John (Portland, Maine)
Date of Stay: 09/04/09 Review Submitted: 07/01/10

Thank you so much to Carol and Bill for sharing this beautiful and peaceful spot with us. We spent a long weekend in September at the little red farmhouse. It was one of the best weekends we've ever had. The trees were just turning to the most brilliant autumn colors. The house is sweet and private. We especially loved waking up in the master bedroom with the most gorgeous yellow sunshine. The grounds and landscaping are immaculate. The house has a large kitchen that's great for cooking, lots of special spots for playing games, relaxing... whatever you choose. The screened in porch was a favorite for us with its stunning views.. But there's something more. This house has the best spirit. There's something about it that makes you happy. We spent a perfect afternoon just sitting on the back porch reading with a glass of wine in our hands, listening to birds and the wind in the trees, watching eagles fly around on the marsh. There are great hiking trails in the area as well. You can do a short hike around Sebasco Resort..just minutes from the farmhouse, OR you can hike on one of Phippsburg's land trust trails. One day we walked to Sebasco Resort. From there, we took one of their amazing kayak trips out to Malaga Island, had lunch, had a massage in the spa, and then sat in the rooftop hot tub just watching the sun set while the boats drifted by. Gorgeous! Our September visit was a great way to end the summer. Thanks so much for sharing this farmhouse with us. We have such wonderful memories that we will never forget. I would encourage people to visit- It's one of those special places that you'll want to come back to year after year."

My family can't wait to return this summer

Guest: Sallyannhmc (Winchester MA,)
Date of Stay: 04/16/10 Review Submitted: 04/16/10

In a fortunate stroke of serendipity on my second visit to Casco Bay, my family and I found the best kept secret on Sebasco Harbor Estates. The Red Farmhouse is the best of both worlds. A private house with beautiful gardens, that over looks a lake, is perfect for taking a relaxing vacation and large enough for us to entertain several families for our annual croquet matches. Plus, full access to Sebasco Harbor Resort Activities!

Perfect blend of sea and woods

Guest: Walt and Bev (Stow, MA)
Date of Stay: 09/18/09 Review Submitted: 04/16/10

Last fall our extended family of 7 had a wonderful time at the Red Farmhouse. It was perfect for just relaxing overlooking a quaint lake out front or woods and flowers out back. If you wanted activities, you could walk through the wooded path to the resort with tennis, restaurants and a beautiful cove. We spent a day in Bath, an interesting town with many shops and restaurants. We spent another day at Popham beach just enjoying the sun and sea. Our next stay, we will venture both to Brunswick and enjoy the museum and activities atBowdoin. We will also take our bikes and bike the bike path that is a little drive away but worth exploring. The farmhouse was in excellent condition and really made you feel relaxed. It is furnished so that a few or many feel very comfortable and coffee in the morning on the porch or patio can't be beat. We will return

We are headed back to the Red Farmhouse!

Guest: Didzo (Westerly, Rhode Island, USA)
Date of Stay: 04/16/10 Review Submitted: 04/16/10

As we loaded our cars for the return trip home last summer the universal refrain was, "We have to come back here next year!" Our gang - which included grandparents, parents, and youngsters - reveled in the comfort and setting of the Red Farmhouse - overlooking a small lake and just a five minute woods walk from all of the delights of the Sebasco Resort - salt water pool, golf, tennis, and ice cream! The house itself just suited our generation mix - from early morning coffee to sundowners on the big screened porch to family style dinners and game playing on the big dining room table. We love the Phippsburg Peninsula in all its variety and found the Red House the perfect base for trips to Popham Beach and Popham Village as well as into the charming little city of Bath. Needless to say, we are headed back to the Red House this year.
