Accommodations:  House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible Bed(s), 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 6-10)

Sometimes, paradise is best appreciated for what’s missing.

On Molokai, for example, you won’t find traffic lights, elevators, neon signs or fast food wars. The pristine stretches of white sand beaches are just like the island’s streets: uncrowded and blissfully quiet. On Molokai, nothing’s taller than a palm tree. Molokai is one of those rare destinations where time has stood still.

Recently completed (2007), the house is situated on 6 acres overlooking Papohaku Beach with a commanding view of Oahu from across the Kaiwi Channel. Built in the fashion of a Hawaiian pole house, each room opens onto the wraparound lanaii through expanses of glass doors that take in the spectacular view. Dark hardwood floors throughout contrast the brightly painted walls and high ceilings to create an open, airy environment. Relax under the stars and take in the spectacular view of Oahu across the channel in our jacuzzi/hot tub nestled in with the banana trees on the second floor lanai. All the necessities of home are included with an emphasis on relaxing and unwinding.

This is the west side where Kaluakoi is Molokai's principle resort area. You'll find numerous surf spots here for winter swells while summer swells hit the east side of the island. This is a mountain bikers paradise with trails everywhere. A ten minute walk puts you on Papohaku Beach, the largest white sand beach (3 miles long) in Hawaii.

Here you can literally walk for miles and not see another set of footprints. Maonaloa Town is a ten minute drive where you will find a charming setting surrounding a General Store, Kite Shop, and curio shops.

We have set our rates low in order to attract clients to our newly built home in paradise. We are proud of our home and are confident that you will not be disappointed. Feel free to contact us with your questions or additional information. Manager/Caretaker on site.

Aloha and Mahalo.

Why the Owner Chose Papohaku Beach

We chose the island of Molokai for it's beauty and simple lifestyle. It has all that Hawaii has to offer. It is a eco-naturalists paradise and is virtually unspoiled. The locals are very friendly and helpful and the pace is very leisurely and laid back. The house is situated on 6 acres of land on the west side in the Papohaku area. We love the Hawaii that exists away from the tourist areas.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Complete peace and quiet with the closest neighbor 1000 feet away. The house (hale) is newly built and situated for unsurpassed views. The interior is finished with exotic hardwood floors, granite counter tops throughout and a fully stocked gourmet kitchen with an incredible view. The rear of the house opens to the lanai through a 25 foot sliding glass wall and all bedrooms have sliding patio doors onto the lanai. At night you relax under the incredible stars in our hot tub nestled amongst the banana trees on the lanai. Our goal was to build a retreat where one could find peace as well as adventure in a unique setting.

This was our first time to Molokai...but after staying here, it will not be our last. This home is AWESOME! The kitchen has everything you need, the rooms are very nicely appointed, and the views from every room are breath-taking. This is first class! Wish I was there now!

An architectural masterpiece

Guest: Doc (United States)
Date of Stay: 03/11/12 Review Submitted: 04/08/12

The home near Papohaku Beach was totally delightful, an expertly crafted residence with fine attention to woodworking detail and tastefully decorated throughout. There was plenty of space for 6 of us, and we loved the huge, fully supplied kitchen and panoramic views of the ocean. The location was quite convenient, close to the ocean yet far enough from neighbors to ensure privacy. The covered lanai was our favorite spot, excellent for relaxing with a book or enjoying the afternoon sun. The home had everything one could need, including a hot tub, outdoor shower, fine music system, even cable TV and DVDs (which were seldom used as we spent most of our time adventuring outdoors). The caretaker Laura was a gem -- quite helpful and insightful in helping us plan our excursions, and we learned a lot about the local fauna and flora from her. Our only regret is that we couldn't have stayed longer, and certainly plan to return again in the future. Mahalo!

Gorgeous home

Date of Stay: 03/11/12 Review Submitted: 03/23/12

Our group of 3 couples had a wonderful 12 night stay here. We enjoyed cooking in the spacious, well stocked kitchen, relaxing on the lanai with a view if the ocean, and the beds were comfy. The caretaker, Laura, is most helpful. It was fun to explore Molokai. We snorkeled with captain chris at fish&dive, caught some mahimahi and saw whales with captain mike of fun hogs. We hiked down to kalaupapa peninsula, and up again, then up to the falls on the east side (talk to the flower farm guy at the farmer's market on Saturday am about combining a hike with a tour of his flower farm). auntie Teri in the bookstore in town was a good source of info. Dixie Maru beach, about a 5. Minute drive, was our favorite for swimming. We loved wave watching and shell hunting at papohaku beach, a short walk. We would probably rent a 4 wheel drive vehicle next time, not necessary to get to house, but some beaches would be more accessible with one.

Awesome Thanksgiving retreat

Guest: Craig (Maui)
Date of Stay: 11/23/11 Review Submitted: 11/28/11

Brought the family over on the Ferry from Maui to relax for the Thanksgiving Holiday. This was hands down one of the best get aways we have had in a long time. From the comfortable amenities, to the aloha and kindness that Rob (caretaker) showed us we couldn't have asked for more. Molokai is so relaxing that it is just so hard to leave! I will reccomend this home to anyone I know visiting the islands and my family will certainly be back!!

Wonderful experience

Date of Stay: 04/08/11 Review Submitted: 04/19/11

Love this house! It is beautiful and has everything you could need for a comfortable, very relaxing stay. We recently spent a week there and would jump at the chance to return. The front door opens to a great room with hardwood floors, high ceilings and sliding glass wall that opens out to the lanai and a beautiful view of open land and ocean in the distance. Preparing meals in the kitchen was a pleasure. It is part of the open, spacious great room and well stocked with useful cookware and utensils. The lanai is perfect for lounging, barbequing, having meals and soaking in the hot tub. The impressive sound system can be enjoyed indoors and out. The master suite, bedrooms, bathrooms, living and dining areas are all very comfortable and clean. The house is located in an upscale neighborhood with gorgeous beaches just a short drive away. The owners were quick to answer any questions we had before and during our stay and Rob, the on-site caretaker was friendly and helpful. Verizon cell service and wi-fi worked very well. Overall, our stay at PaLoa Hale was a wonderfully relaxing experience!

Owner response:Mahalo Kathy for your feedback. We are committed to providing the best possible accommodations for our guests as they experience the beauty that is Molokai'. It is especially gratifying to hear of your appreciation for those amenities that we feel make for a truly memorable vacation. Such as the upgraded sound system, the open and airy floor plan, the hot tub under the stars, and the well equipped kitchen. We hope your travel plans include a return trip to Molokai' and Pa Lao Hale. We would love to host you again. Mahalo nui loa, Steve and Vicki

Awesome Birthday celebration with family, kids and friends

Guest: Saj (Anchorage, Alaska)
Date of Stay: 03/01/11 Review Submitted: 04/05/11

Thank you Steve for the lovely visit this March! We had a great time and felt very lucky to have a special, relaxing, luxurious birthday at your beautiful home. We love the open feeling, the huge lanai where we enjoyed outdoor dining while watching colorful sunsets, the hot tub beneath bright white stars (even shooting stars one night!) the outdoor shower, all the nice newer kitchen utensils, the comfortable rooms and even the games available during the one or two rainy days. This was the perfect location for my friends and our small kids . . .every morning after a leisurely breakfast, we'd head to the beach (Dixie Maru, so kid-friendly) and then back to the house for lunch. Chatting with House Rob was a nice extra as he gave us good local tips. Then off on an afternoon adventure, whether it was a visit to Kumu Farms for local jams, jellies, veggies and lotions or into town for shopping or maybe pizza. The Dive Shop is fun to look around. Evenings included, usually yummy BBQ'd dinner on the deck, watching enormous moths fluttering about in the warm air, the purples and oranges of a Hawaii sunset and laughing as the gecho's scurried away. It was especially gratifying to enjoy a special birthday with our kids, who loved the trip, and our close friends. We are in love with Molokai and finding and staying at your house only added to the special memory. Thank you again!

Owner response:Aloha Saj, It was especially nice for us to offer you and your family and friends a respite from the Alaskan winter. We never tire of hearing the stories from our guests of how much they enjoyed staying at our Molokai' home and how they took in all that Molokai' has to offer. We work hard to bring the very best experience possible to our guests and are grateful for your comments. Please come back soon. Mahalo nui loa, Steve and Vicki

Perfect!

Guest: Frankie J (santa clara, ca)
Date of Stay: 03/05/09 Review Submitted: 04/01/09

We just had a wedding on Papohaku Beach in March 09' and I rented this house for my family. It was perfect inside and out, and lights up like a lantern at night with no other houses around. So much room in the house and everything is filled with class and style. This is the Hawaii that only a few get to see. It sits just above a top ten beach in Hawaii, 3 miles of white sand. No one else was on the beach! Its very secluded on this side and the house was a five minute walk to the water. Owners were very flexible as we added 2 more nights to our stay with little notice. Thanks to Steve and Vicki!

This was a perfect house for our family to get together during the Christmas holidays. We recently lost both our parents and wanted a nice serene place to all get together and heal. Steve and Vicki's home provided that ideal place for us to do that. It's clean, new, roomy, and really comfortable! It's located in a place where you have a lot of privacy but yet it's not far from the main town of Molokai. We all had a great time there and can't wait to go back soon.

Owner response:Matt, Steve and I are so happy that we could provide you with a place of solace and healing in your time of grief. Thank you for the kind remarks. And please allow use to serve you and your family again soon. Aloha and ma halo, Vicki and Steve

What a beautiful house! It had everything you could possibly need for a memorable stay. Comfortable accomodations for large (or small) groups, beautiful interior and furnishings, awesome views and sunsets, short walk to one of the most beautiful beaches in the islands, jacuzzi on the deck under the stars - what more could you ask for?? We will definitely be back!!

After traveling in Hawaii, island hopping for 2 weeks and 3 islands later, we (2 couples),considered our stay on Molokai one of the best, if not,THE Best treasure of our experience. The sound of surf, open skies, tropical landscape, unending wide beautiful beach and all the wonderful domestic amenities one could ask for; made this trip a peaceful, memorable vacation.
