Lubec house description
This is a newly constructed authentic log home (1900 sf). While the look is rustic, it has all the modern conveniences you’ve come to expect. The entire first floor is handicapped accessible. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything a willing cook will need, while on the deck a gas grill waits for outdoor cooking. Watch a movie or game in the living room, while a sunset displays its beautiful colors just beyond the wall of windows overlooking the ocean. You can take the chill off an evening with a crackling fire in the fireplace. The master suite has a separate TV, private full bath, and optional private entrance. A washer and dryer are located in the half bath down the hall. On the second floor you’ll find two large bedrooms with two full beds in each, as well as a full bath - with tub. A loft with a cozy reading nook completes the upstairs hideaway. There is an ocean view from every room in this house.
Outside you can enjoy the view of the ocean from a rocking chair on the screened porch or the deck. A short 75 foot path makes access to the ocean and private beach easy. Swim on the beach (if you dare to brave the cool waters of Maine), skip rocks, rock hound, bird watch, look for fossils, or use the paddle boat or row boat to explore the private quiet cove.
Area attractions include four lighthouses within 15 miles. One of them, picturesque West Quoddy Head Light with its red and white stripes, is the most eastern point in the United States. There are sandy beaches, as well as, bold coastal cliffs. Campobello Island, Canada (passport required) is only a 10 minute drive and well worth the visit. Like Hiking? The Lubec area has three state parks, a national wildlife refuge, and several nature preserves all with trails to see nature at its best. Chartered boat trips are available for viewing whales, seals, eagles, or puffins. And don’t forget the fresh seafood served in local restaurants or available for you to cook back at the ocean getaway.
Your perfect place to rest, relax, and recharge might just be our Ocean Getaway.

We were so pleased with this vacation rental. It certainly exceeded our expectations in every way The owner certainly thought of everything in this home. It was comfortable, welcoming, peaceful and had wonderful views. The house and property are beautiful...This is a true getaway !! . We saw eagles soaring overhead everyday. I have rented in the area 4 different occasions and this one was without a doubt the BEST! I sure hope to return someday....Thanks so much!!

This is one great property. The views are amazing, it is so quiet and peaceful and it was so relaxing. The amenities were as advertised, it is 5 minutes to Lubec. IGA grocery store had everything we needed. Cohills Restaurant for food and fun and Becky's for seafood cooked to order or for pickup to be cooked by you. We hiked on many scenic trails, none were ever crowded. We will be back next year.

Outstanding Starry Nights!
Outstanding Starry Nights!
We stayed here with our two young children who absolutely adored this home's amenities. From the comforting fire pit in the cooler summer evenings overlooking the Bay of Fundy, to long walks on the property - we loved every minute. The home is pristine and well appointed for a family of four with guests. Our friends with their children stayed as well. It accommodated 8 very nicely. It is private and pristine. It is super close to the town of Lubec and New Brunswick. It is a two-hour drive from Bar Harbor.

One Week is Not Enough!
One Week is Not Enough!
I will probably regret this, but I'm going to tell the truth. We have been going to Lubec every year for the past 10. We always try to rent the same house each year because we have always been lucky to find great houses. Two have been sold out from under us, so this year we had to try another new one. All I can say is...WOW. This is really the best value you will find in this area. The house is like brand-new. All modern accompaniments included. If you are a cook like me, you will appreciate the fully equipped kitchen. Its the first time I didn't need to bring my own knives. They even have a food processor! The master suite was super comfortable and I didn't even miss my own pillow........the bed was perfect. The living room, complete with cozy fireplace, made it hard to venture outside.......it was so condusive to rest and relaxing....the couch was hard to remove yourself from. Yet the beauty and quiet peacefulness of this very private hideout made it impossible to resist the outdoors. You can spend an entire day just exploring the property that surrounds this hidden gem of a home-away-from-home. If you are looking for a rental in this region, you cant go wrong with this one. Please just don't ask for it the same week I will need it next year!

We truly enjoyed your 'Haven of Rest'. Everyone in the area was very friendly and willing to help out with ideas of things to do. The house was just what a cabin should be and the property was secluded yet close to town. We hope to visit again when our girls are older, as they are 3yrs and 8 mos now.

Dear Howard and Diane, We have to admit we were very hesitant to rent directly from an owner instead of a rental agency but are so glad that we did so! We had a wonderful and very relaxing vacation at your lovely cabin! It was so nice to be able to take little walks with our son and to take him on the paddle boat as well! And on the days that we took daytrips, it was so nice to come home to your beautiful cabin! We found plenty to do in the Lubec area and other surrounding areas as well! And on the days that we didn't do much, it was just great to relax in your beautiful cabin! Thanks so much and all the best to you and your family!

Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: I was born and grew up in Lubec and always loved the 'not too hot' summers and the clean smell of the salt air. However, jobs there are scarce, so I had to move away to make my living. I met my wife, Diane, in Connecticut and we now live in Georgia. My wife has fallen in love with Maine, too. We return to spend vacations there whenever we can. Howard Reynolds
Why the Owner Chose Lubec:
The 20 acres with over 500 feet of ocean frontage has been in our family for nearly 50 years. Diane & I bought it from my father in 1988. Since then we enjoyed the infrequent picnic here during our visits to my home town. In 2006, we decided to build our retirement home here - so we have built this log home with everything we wanted in OUR HOME. But unfortunately, right now we can only spend a couple of weeks here each year. In 15 years, when we retire, this will change, but for now we can share this beautiful home/property with others who appreciation what Maine has to offer.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We spend most of our time on the Deck. We love to have coffee there each morning while we watch the deer and eagles just a short distance away. We also love to have a fire in the fireplace each evening. We love the freshness of the seafood that we can buy inexpensively at local restaurants or at the docks to prepare at home. But mostly we love the solitude and peacefulness of our private cove. There are no other homes within sight of our home, yet we are only 4 miles away from the center of town.
