Perched on a hillside above a secluded Bay on Tortola’s North West coast and situated amongst large boulders and mature trees, is the uniquely idyllic retreat of “Kerensa” This recently completed house is built on a private 2 acre estate bordering Mount Healthy National Park. It was carefully designed to have minimal impact on the beautiful natural setting and take full advantage of the stunning panoramic views over the Islands and Bays of the North Shore. Far away from other houses, the only sounds you’ll hear are the waves on the rocks below....

By combining colourful Caribbean style with quirky antiques and flea market finds from Europe the owners have created an aesthetic, highly individual dwelling that delightfully complements the spectacular location. The house is simple, comfortable and well equipped with accommodation consisting of one bedroom, a bathroom, dining area and a kitchen / living room together with a covered veranda, a brick courtyard and wooden decks around an infinity edge pool and hot-tub area

Close by are the world class beaches of Brewers Bay (3 minutes by car) which features an uncrowded half mile of golden sand and superb snorkeling and Cane Garden Bay (10 minutes) with its’ famous beach and plethora of lively bars and restaurants. Kerensa is centrally situated to explore the island. Roadtown (the capital) is 15 minutes over the hill on the South Shore. Access from the public road is along a ¼ mile unpaved track (a 4WD vehicle is advisable) and parking has been deliberately sited away from the house to preserve the natural ambience with a series of steps (39 to be precise!) leading down to the house.

“Kerensa” is the Cornish word for Love and if you’re looking for a unique and romantic retreat - far from the madding crowd - this is where you'll find it....

  • Obviously, the pictures can never do Kerensa justice. Please keep it quiet! This wonderfully decorated home made us feel so comfortable we didn't want to leave. We spent 3 of 11 days of a honeymoon here. If we could've spent them all here, we would have! Kerensa is amazing! My husband and I still say we have never laughed or loved as carefree as we did at Kerensa! Thank you Ben! This is a place we have recommended to other couples. We will certianly be back. This was an awesome refuge from the tired tourist, boater traffic that sometimes surrounds the BVI. Kerensa is a haven! From the silverware to the wok, to the grill, Kerensa made our honeymoon a lasting memory. If a picture is worth a thousand words, Kerensa is a cacophony!   • We stayed at Kerensa Villa from 02/09/08 thru 2/16/08. We don't believe we could have found a more beautiful, serene and secluded place for our vacation. The views are just spectacular. We enjoyed our breakfast on the terrace each morning and were often treated to rainbows after a brief shower. The villa is fully equiped with everything we needed. We had some minor problems with mosquitos as mentioned by other quests but nothing a quick spray of repellant won't fix. This is the ideal spot to use as a base for day trips to Jost and Virgin Gorda or just to hang out by the pool all day. We found Brewer's Bay to have the best snorkling and it's right nearby. Long Bay beach near the airport is a picture perfect post card setting and nearly deserted on the day we went. The hot tub is a great way to end the day and the chiminea is a nice touch.   • As my wife has mentioned, this place is simply spectacular. Nothing amiss, including the BEST outdoor/indoor teak shower I've ever seen (I am a fan of 'em); it's like you're in the woods but have all the comforts of home! What really has stuck in my mind since November are the unreal views and soothing sounds of the wind and ocean you get here. I can't tell you how sweeeeet the y are while you're chilling in either the bedroom, dinning room, hot tub, pool, deck or outdoor sofa. And the sunset or rising full moon viewed from the endless pool - FOGETABOUDIT!!! We didn't leave the house for the first 2 days. After spending close to 2 weeks here and racking up 500 miles traveling around the island on the rental jeep (a must); I wouldn't trade this spot for any other we came across. Some bugs (I slept outdoors a few nights - SNORER), but bedroom area was easily sealed up with screens. Ultra cool and accessible owners hosted us at their excellent restraunt - The Last Resort in Trellis Bay. Plan a designated driver home for this trip or you may end up in the West End as I did at 3am - got lost, very lost!! I'm planning our next visit ASAP! Matt

  • We stayed at the Kerensa house for our honeymoon as well and I must say the pictures don't even do this place the justice it deserves. The exquisitive taste and design that outfits this home is impeccable. The rooms are like out of Elle Decor magazine with it's unique pieces of furniture and designs of the room are very shabby chic meets caribbean... After meeting the owners, you can just tell how much effort and care they put into this place, definately going back! But yes bug spray is a must, but that is everywhere on the island.

  • We stayed at the Kerensa house for our honeymoon and it was everything we imagined. The whole place was beautiful- we came away with some gorgeous pictures by the pool at sunset. We did have some mosquitos during the week since it had rained the 2 weeks before. You definitely need to be ready for "open air" to really enjoy it. It's really close to one of the best places we snorkeled (they have gear at the house) and is in a nice private location. The owners were great- very welcoming and met us at the airport to go to the house when we got there. Their restaurant "the Last Resort" near the airport was one of the best places we ate with good food and great atmosphere. We definitely recommend it- just also recommend bringing extra strength bug spray. Gorgeous views!
