Why the Owner Chose Great Barrington
We met and fell in love in the Berkshires. Shortly thereafter, our jobs took us to another part of the state and we made a wish that we would one day be able to return for good. Happily, that day came four years later, and we have been working, running our business, and raising our daughter in the Berkshires and loving every minute of it!
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our home is wonderfully located just outside of town so you don't have to battle with Great Barrington traffic during the summer. Swimming, shopping, Stockbridge, and Tangelwood are all just minutes away. We have large front and back yard, and a wonderful screened in porch where you'll want to spend all of your time. Because this is our primary residence, it is well furnished and appointed (none of this 6 spoons, 6 forks, nonsense that typical rentals have). We know you'll love it as much as we do.
Owner's Map of Great Barrington
Susan works for Bard College at Simon's Rock, and Brian owns his own personal training studio -- Personal Best Fitness Studio. We have raised our daughter here, and love having a quality of life that brings together work, school, and recreation.

We had problems with no working bathtub in downstairs bedroom. No hot water , heat , computer or internet. I would not reccommend this house.
Owner response:Dear Donna, We are surprised and saddened to read your review -- the first negative one we've had in the six years we’ve been renting our home! As you know, we worked together so much in advance of your stay with us, spending hours on the phone with both you and your son, and even having your son come to view the house before booking it to make sure it was just right. We installed, at no cost to you, a wheelchair ramp to accommodate your husband. On October 30th, The Berkshires were blanketed with an historic 2 feet of snow – something that never happens! Tens of thousands of people lost power, my husband, daughter, and I had to stay in a hotel for a week and send our dog to a kennel. In the middle of all of that, my husband was out to the house immediately, snowing and sanding the driveway to ensure that you were all safe. When the hot water system failed, we had a plumber out to fix the situation within hours of your notifying us. I am sorry that the tub was not working properly. In the middle of everything, we simply could not address that. Additionally, you and your family were aware that we do not have cell or internet access in our home – it is both a charm and a nuisance of country living at times, but we are upfront about it on our VRBO website, and always speak to our guests about it in advance, giving you access to unlimited calling on our phone, as well as the ability to pick up voice messages as needed. We offer you places nearby for free internet service, including my husband’s business. We always want our guests to have a wonderful experience, and feel we go above and beyond to make sure that is true. We’ve had so many guests who have enjoyed a wonderful stay, and have left us kind messages of appreciation. We know that many owners do live near to their property as we do, and are not responsive in the way we are able to be. We hope that your future travels bring you more satisfaction, and we wish you all the best. Sincerely, Brian and Susan Clapp

We have stayed in this wonderful home many, many times over the last three years. It's truly the most gorgeous, spaceous, and comfortable house I've ever been in! There is plenty of room for a lot of people without feeling crowded, and with plenty of space to spread out. It is so light-filled, airy, and gracious. We've also loved all the local attractions: the lake with a nice, friendly beach, Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, and the museums. And walks along the dirt roads there are beautiful and peaceful in all seasons. If we could, we would buy this house!

We've spent long, leisurely days at the Stony Brook Road house in every season over the past 3 years. It's a special place. Great vibes. Amazingly free-flowing while offering private places indoors(the library is a favorite) and outdoors (love the huge back lawn)for everyone to do his or her own thing. A perfect jumping off point, too, for the cultural and natural wonders of the Berkshires, and a relaxing place to return to at the end of the day.

we have spent 4 2-week vacations in this wonderful home with our 2 children and other family friends. it is very spacious, clean, modern, hardwood floors with an ideal flowing layout and big kitchen. there's a deck off the kitchen overlooking a rock garden and the woods that is flooded with morning sunshine. you're in a gorgeous rural area but with all modern and clean conveniences, close to the lake, town playground and other nearby berkshire attractions. highly recommended.

What a wonderful house! We have visited both summer and winter (and been snowed in) and the house simply does not lose its charm. There is a huge amount of space, room for half a dozen people to collaborate in the kitchen; room to get away from everyone else, if you're not feeling social. The grounds are lovely and there are wonderful walks along wooded roads. Of all the private homes we've visited This wonderful house in Becket is our favorite.
