Our villa is large and spacious, furnished to a very high standard providing all you need for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. The large family room makes for more casual times with the beautiful drawing room for more formal use. Situated in a quiet cul de sac overlooking the sea yet a 5 minute stroll from the beach and all the facilities the 5 star Marriott Hotel has to offer, these include The Atlantic Coast Spa providing state of the art facilities which include fully equipped gymnasium, salon, soothing Vichy shower and massage rooms offering an extensive range of treatments.
Accommodation; 3 dbl bedrooms and 3 twins 5 are en-suite, pool room with shower room, wc and sauna, family room, fully fitted and equipped kitchen with American fridge with ice maker, silstone granite worktops and breakfast bar, dining room, drawing room with fireplace, downstairs cloakroom. Outside is an extra large swimming pool with beautiful teak furniture including 10 loungers, table and chairs
The Resort: At the Villa there is a file with detailed information on the resort and surrounding areas to make your stay more enjoyable. We can recommend babysitters, a fantastic butchers in Peniche, where to buy your fresh fish and veg, supermarkets, & even advice on the local wines and where to purchase them! We also can organise for a car to pick you up from the airport, the driver is local, speaks English and has a 7 seater with trailer if required.
This beautiful and unspoilt region has very strong links to nature and enjoys an enviable and peaceful location near the picturesque medieval town of Obidos. Beach: 2.5 kilometers of sandy beach, popular with surfers and sun seekers. Summer activities include football, volleyball and other beach activities. Clubhouse with restaurant,
offers Portuguese and International cuisine in a delightful restaurant with stunning sea views, a golfers lounge, mens and ladies locker rooms and a fully equipped pro-shop. Security: 24 hour security.
The Area: Lisbon (1 hr) - The Capital of Portugal, a fabulous city with fantastic shopping. At it's heart are wide, tree-lined avenues graced by Art Nouveau buildings, People in Lisbon love going out & the city has a variety of areas with different styles of restaurants & bars to visit. Obidos (30 mins) - Obidos is considered to be one of the jewels of Portugal’s national heritage. It's outstanding architectural beauty is reflected as much in the winding narrow streets & elegant whitewashed buildings & balconies decorated with flowers as in the ancient churches & the magnificent Moorish castle whose high protective walls encircle the town. Obidos was once the favourite retreat of King Sancho I & was a wedding gift from King Diniz to Queen Isabel. Within the city walls there are some charming restaurants & shops well worth visiting. Pinche (20 mins) - Peniche possesses a rich & long history with it's main activity being fishing and agriculture a thriving town, with superb restaurants.
The Area: Obidos Lagoon (10 mins) - Is one of the largest salt water lagoons with a magnificent sand bar situated between it and the sea. The protected beach and dunes make it a perfect place for swimming and boating. One of the most beautiful spots on the west coast & has a fragile ecosystem where diverse species are to be found.
Caldas Da Rainha - Just 20 minutes from Praia D’El Rey and is famous for it's dailyfresh food market. The Thermal waters of Caldas are beneficial for people suffering from rheumatism, muscle-skeletal and respiratory diseases. Caldas is also well known for its gastronomy, lace making and excellent shopping.
Sinitra(40mins) - tourist region par excellence, Sintra is one of the most delightful places to be found in Portugal. With its extensive range of green bills with its crags - the Serra de Sintra - so picturesquely situated and offering stupendous views of the coastline with its impressive beauty, Sintra is indeed 'a garden of the earthly paradise'.

This is a beautiful villa, very well laid out and furnished to a very high standard. It is located in the Praia del Rey resort 5 minutes walk from the Marriot hotel and 10 minutes to the Golf Club, both useful places to eat. The day we arrived was bright blue skies and Force 8 gales. The view from the villa was spectacular. The rolling waves breaking on the coastline were amazing. Given the wind I was surprised that it was still possible to sit out by the pool but this was down to the thoughtful layout of the property, one wing of the villa providing shelter from the prevailing wind, creating a real sun trap. The facilities at the villa are excellent - all you would expect and more. I was particularly appreciative of the pool toys and equipment as we travelled with two five year olds who spent a lot of time in the pool. The kickboards and body boards provided kept them entertained for hours. As I mentioned this villa has been laid out very well. The kitchen/family room was the hub for us during the day. It is possible to keep an eye on the children in the pool/garden from the kitchen. There is the option of having a pool fence around the pool. We choose to have this and it gave us great peace of mind. The Drawing Room is a lovely room for relaxing in particularly once the children had gone to bed - a very adult space. As we were there end of March it was nice to light a fire and relax. All the bedrooms are en-suite with two on the first floor and three on the ground floor. This arrangement is good particularly if, as in our case, two families travel together. Praia del Rei is a very good base with lots of options to chose from - a visit to the walled town of Obidos was really interesting, enough to entertain without being too touristy. Lisbon is within easy driving distance and we spent a day at the Oceanarium and waterfront parks. Obviously there is golf, which we didn't avail of this time, but the clubs provided at the villa did make us think twice. I gather the courses are challenging as is the way with links perched on an Atlantic coastline. The fact file provided by the villa owners was a mine of information and we took some of their recommendations particularly a restaurant Mae d'Agua which we visited twice. Plenty of vineyards to visit also. All in all a very beautiful villa very well situated and kitted out to a very high standard. One we would definitely consider returning to.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

This was our first trip to Portugal and the villa and the location way exceeded our expectations. The journey from Lisbon was quick and easy. The layout of the villa was perfect for 2 families sharing - we had loads of space and privacy and it is luxurious yet comfortable. We were preparing dinner for 9 and the kitchen was well up to it. The cleaners kept the villa immaculate every day. It can be difficult to entertain teenagers but ours just loved the surfing at Peniche - with a championship beach and all the Aussies it was very cool. They had excellent lessons. They also enjoyed the tennis in the resort and the beach near to the villa. We loved the convenience of the hotel when we did not feel like cooking. The big outdoor area and pool was brilliant for quiet afternoons. We will definitely return.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Whow! What a great time we had on our first trip to Portugal. The villa was wonderful, plenty of room for the 6 of us. Beautifully furnished...we felt like we were in a 5 star hotel. Everything you could possibly need was supplied in the kitchen (I love to cook.) The back of the villa by the pool is quite secluded and we probably spent 90% of our time there. Loved walking down to the beach most mornings before it got too hot. The hotel is close by and even though we ate at the villa most days, we did have dinner there once and it was very good. my husband and I would both recommend staying....his only regret was not bringing his golf clubs with him, oh well, next time.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

What a villa!! Impeccably furnished with every amenety you could possibly require. The information provided concerning local activities,restaurents and places of interest was invaluable.This part of Portugal is quite charming with pleanty to see and do.
