Great home and very clean. Central to all the island has to offer. We had a car, but the free Island Shuttle actually stops right across the street. I would definately stay here again. The host had a lot of information for you to get a feel for what to do. He was very considerate and attentive to detail.

The house was cute, clean and comfortable... within a short walk to town on a lovely street. The weather happened to cooperate which made our stay even more enjoyable. We plan on returning since Hank (the owner) was so easy to work with. He previously emailed information about the area that was quite helpful in our planning. One of the nicer vacations we've experienced!

We had a wonderful journey in MDI and were always happy to relax in this peaceful and charming cottage after a day of hiking. The owner, Hank, has been very welcoming and attentive to our comfort. This little house will have a special place in our souvenirs of this beautiful week of vacation. Lucie & Jean Montréal, Québec

This small cottage is in the quiet side of Acadia National Park. It is near the free shuttle bus station and Lobster pond. All of us like it and its evvironment. We did fishing on the ocean and hiking in the acadia NP. We also ate a lot of lobsters. We didn't notice the speed limit in the main road is changed during first few days, and we were catched by a police when we hurried to Cadilac mountain to watch the sun rise in 4:30AM. That officer was so nice. she didn't give us the ticket. We'll come back.

The cottage is quaint, charming and clean. Highlights include the picnic table in the backyard, a spacious dining room that comfortably seats four and a comfortable living room. The kitchen is better stocked with utensils than many 5-star condos and resort apartments that I have rented. Its ample storage and counter space made it enjoyable for cooking evening meals and preparing picnic lunches for outings during the day. The location couldn't be better. Hikers will be glad to know that several of the most popular hikes are within ten minutes of the cottage. The lobster pound, which serves cooked meals and live lobsters for carry-out, is just several blocks away. The quaint business district of Southwest Harbor, also a very short distance away, has a wine store that carries mid-and high-end wines generally unavailable in grocery stores. Speaking of groceries, the local store store provides 90% of everything we would need. A larger store about a mile or two away carries everything else. We wouldn't hesitate to stay in the cottage again if we ever return to the area. We wouldn't even bother considering alternatives. --Mike Buckley

We stayed there for a week in late fall 2008. This little place is very clean and nice, Hank is a pleasure to work with. Nice harbor view from the upstairs, comfy bed and furniture. It's really 1.3 bathrooms because there's an extra WC in the basement laundry area. The stove is a really cool oldtimey-feeling gas stove that's actually quite modern. The area around there is just really picturesque and there are nice restaurants within easy walking distance, also bike rentals, lots of other stuff. Exceeded our expectations in every way.

This place was very clean and unique! We took my mom (elderly) and felt very comfortable there. The gas fireplace was just what we needed since the rains came for the second half of our stay. Quiet neighborhood, walk to center of town or lobster pound. Remember to duck coming down the staircase! LOL Thanks for the stay, will be back next year! Close to plenty of hiking trails, too!

My spouse and I stayed at the cottage (11 June-18 June, 2009). The house is sunny, warm and very comfortable. Beautiful framed photos (by the owner) cover the walls. The house has nice wood floors, upscale kitchen, harbor views with comfortable furnishings. The location is excellent; upscale, quiet harbor-side residential area. Short walk to shops and cafes. The owner provides information about the area. Hank is more than reasonable. He really wants his renters to have a nice vacation. His rental terms are far better than over 30 other comparable properties I researched. There is a local caretaker in case of any immediate questions or problems. The property is in excellent condition. I definitely would recommend this property to a friend. I feel very lucky we were able to have such an excellent rental in this area. Laura Boulder, Colorado

I've lost count of the number of times I've stayed in this home. I hope to go back again this summer. The house is fully functional, comfortable and truly a home away from home. The beds are comfortable and the owner's beautiful photography is wonderful to live with. The wireless internet works and there are enough channels on the tv to keep anyone happy. The kitchen, with it's gorgeous, vintage-style stove, is a real plus. There's a full-sized dining room which makes it perfect for families or people who want to have guests come over for that lobster dinner. Oh, and there is lobster available to buy (during the summer) within walking distance (though you might want to drive) at the end of the road.
