Beautiful 1908 Craftsman home (Garden view unit) in the heart of one of the most sought after neighborhoods in Portland! You will never stay in a nicer garden view unit! This is urban living at it's finest. Beautiful high historic end homes, gorgeous tree lined boulevards, wonderful people, and extremely close to many wonderful restaurants and shopping. This is one of the best neighborhoods in Portland without a doubt. The wonderful and energetic neighborhoods of Alameda, Beaumont-Wilshire, Concordia, Laurelhurst and Grant Park all surround Historic Irvington, but she is the Grand Dame of them all!
A car is not absolutely necessary, walk to the MAX (transportation system - 10 minutes) and the bus line is around the corner. You are a 5-10 minute walk from literally 20 restaurants!! 5 minutes walking to Lloyd Center and 8 minute walk to the Rose Quarter. Downtown is a 7 minute drive or 9 minutes on the MAX.
Your garden view unit is almost 600 square feet and has been completely restored with the original hardware. The sofa folds down to sleep a total of 4. Why stay in a hotel when you can live like a local?
The vast majority of the vacation rentals in Portland operate illegally, but this house has the rare and therefore coveted "Conditional Use" permit that the city requires in order to run a vacation rental for short term stays.
Our caretakers live onsite, tucked away in an apartment on the main level. Feel free to ask them for help at anytime.
This apartment is extremely well furnished, with everything you need to make your stay wonderful, giving you maximum comfort. Large windows ensure the unit is well lit, and a brand new hydroponic heating system ensures warmth on cold nights. Stainless steel appliances, travertine countertops, wireless internet, a 30" flat screen TV, DVD player and a Bose Stereo give you the luxuries that you have in your own home! Your own illuminated, private entrance on the side of the house guarantees you complete privacy.
You will get our personal recommendations for shopping, dining and activities and complimentary coffee and tea, as well as wine from the Pacific Northwest.
This is our part time home, and we absolutely love it. We guarantee you will feel the same. Come and be part of our family as you sample all that Irvington Neighborhood and Portland have to offer!

Garden View Hideway in Prestigious Irvington Neighborhood
Year Purchased: 2005
Why the Owner Chose Irvington
I have always loved the Pacific Northwest, though my daughter, family and my business are in Phoenix. Most of my maternal family is from this area, and many relatives still live near here.
My mother was born in Vancouver, WA and used to come down to the Lloyd Center to shop with her mother when she was very young. She has fond memories of this place. When she first saw this house and this neighborhood, she literally cried.
I have always had a great time here. I love the neighborhood. I love my neighbors and the general vibe that Portland has. I love the people, and even the weather(most of the time) I love the fact that you can go hiking or biking in the AM, and be back in time for lunch at a fabulous restaurant. I love that nothing looks the same, that everything is unique. This is definitely not suburbia.
The Unique Benefits at this House
I guess I could go on and on, but I really like the urban lifestyle. You can walk anywhere from the Irvington Neighborhood. The gardens and yards are just unbelievable. There are tons of great restaurants and coffee shops everywhere you turn. Portland is such a great destination in every way, and I think Irvington neighborhood is the crown jewel of it all.
I have put tons of money and my heart and soul into this property, and I think and hope it shows. I hope you enjoy this house as much as I do.

My sister and I stayed in this apartment for one month. It was as it was described in the advertisement. It is a great location as you are near shopping, grocery stores and light rail/bus service. The owner had recently lost their care provider as they had bought their own home. This period of time meant that the apartment was not as well set up when we arrived, however, the owner was most accomodating and in the end we had a wonderful stay. The convertible bed is comfortable but the main bed is great!

The apartment was clean, comfortable and very well maintained. The location is convenient and I would definitely return here and recommend the place. I never had any problem with finding parking right in front of the house. The pictures give a good representation and the description was accurate. Though I might dispute the title "Garden view", the windows were good-sized and gave a lot of light for a basement apartment (in January!). The owner answered all my questions promptly and handled the lease in a very efficient and trustworthy manner. It was a bonus having the caretaker on sight. She was pleasant and helpful and it was an added security having her in the building. All in all I was very impressed! I have done VRBO rentals before, and this is really one of the nicest. My only recommendation is to add a full length mirror. Thanks!!

The owner Mark said we would love the place. Indeed, we did. Very comfortable, very clean and the caretaker who lives in the same house is very hospitable. The location is incredible, right on the bus line, and still very close to our daughter:) We found everything we needed in the apartment, most of it very good quality. I can't say enough about the apartment, we will be returning soon. We have always stayed on the west side of Portland, simply because we enjoy the fine dining that it offers. But I can say that I am now a convert to the east side. The house is very close to downtown, and without the parking hassles and homeless problem that downtown has. Again, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this delighful home.

The surrounding neighborhood is beautiful and ideally located--short walks to shops and transportation. We enjoyed a comfortable stay and were delighted to be there during Portland's peak foliage season. It's a great place and reasonably priced.

We loved the apartment! The futon bed was very comfortable. The location was fantastic. The amenities met all of our needs. The spare food and bathroom items were a great, added touch!

I stayed here for a long weekend and found it really hard to leave! It' s located in a beautiful, safe neighborhood with a bus stop about two houses down the street, so getting downtown is quite easy. Accomodations were lovely and quiet. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed my stay here in Portland, and your unit here at the Irvington House was the perfect location for getting anywhere. The neighborhood was very nice, and I really liked looking at all the houses there. I think your house looks better in person than on the website. Thanks again guys. Tim Miralla

We were so pleased to find that the apt was exactly as described. The neighborhood was lovely and it was easy to navigate ways to the Pearl District, Downtown, Nob Hill (and Voodoo Donuts...a must as is Andina). The apt had everythig we needed to make easy meals to fill in the gaps between visits to a foodie capital's many offerings. Chris and Amy were great and also unobtrusive which we appreciated but helpful with questions. The only thing missing was.....Kleenex :-) Four stars.
Owner response:Kleenex is being added:)
