This luxury four-bedroom home is located just feet from the seawall overlooking the Thimble Islands and Long Island Sound beyond. Completely renovated in 2003 to the highest standards, the 30’ living room has a cathedral ceiling and three large windows with a 280-degree view of the water. Off the living room is a small family room with a high definition flat screen TV. Both rooms are furnished with antiques, oriental rugs, and new couches. At the other end of the living room is a 19’ dining room with antique mahogany table (seats 12). The kitchen, adjacent to the dining room, features custom cabinetry, granite countertops, and all new appliances including double ovens, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher. It is separated with large sliding doors which when open provide a full view of the ocean. French doors in the dining room access a screened porch, overlooking a large bluestone terrace, garden, pier, and spectacular view (home is not recommended for young children).
The house renovation was designed to maximize the ocean views. The master bedroom is 15’ square, with a 17’ marble bath featuring double sinks, a large shower, toilet stall and ample closets. A smaller bedroom with day bed (sleeps one) completes the master bedroom suite. Bedroom #3 has two twin beds that may be made up as a king-size bed, with its own bathroom and Jacuzzi tub overlooking the ocean. An elegant entryway, large hallway, powder room and laundry room complete the main floor.
The second storey above the kitchen/dining room has a large sitting room 16’x19’ off of which is a bedroom alcove with queen-size bed and small bathroom with walk-in shower. The wall facing the ocean corresponds to the dining room downstairs, with French doors opening onto a large deck above the screened porch.
The house is located in the scenic village of Stony Creek overlooking the Thimble Islands. Stony Creek is famous for the pink-gray granite that is quarried here. The Stony Creek Market, a popular gathering place in the “center” of town, is a few minutes’ walk from the house. Just beyond is the public beach and public dock, where boat tours of the Thimble Islands depart regularly. The shallow waters of the Thimbles break the waves from Long Island Sound and provide an ideal place for kayaking and wind surfing (rentals available nearby).
Stony Creek, in the town of Branford, is 12 miles east of New Haven, the home of Yale University and the cultural capital of Connecticut. Picture postcard New England is at your finger tips. New York City and Boston are short train rides away, and Cape Cod is just a three-hour drive.
