France by the Sea: Holiday on a Sandy Beach in St Jean De Luz
Year Purchased: 2004
Why the Owner Chose St.-Jean-de-Luz
We can walk everywhere! It is a magical, very safe haven, with 'eye candy' everywhere. The architecture and history, the art galleries and the cafes! Ambiance!
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
Every morning and evening, we walk the beach. This year (2010) it has been warm enough to just people watch while sitting on the beach. We walk to Hendaye or Biarritz (3 1/2 hours) regularly - actually, we walk everywhere! The spa is always available, and we use it often. Tues and Fri's are market days - fresh vegetables, eggs, and everything else! As we are here 4 months, we use St Jean de Luz as a stepping stone to visit Spain and other areas of Europe. We don't need a car as public transportation: train, bus and air are all so conveniently located. There are many art galleries (I love to paint), and window shopping is extraordinary, or just watching people in the streets is a sport in itself. St Jean is vey animated!
Owner's Map of St.-Jean-de-Luz
Greg and I live on the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia, Canada. We have an air taxi, flight instruction company called FLY! He is a commercial pilot/instructor. I used to be a business owner for 20 years (alternative health), and am now an artist, entrepreneur (still) and enjoy yoga, family, volunteer work and life in general!
Greg and I are in love with our 2nd home in St Jean de Luz! You will find us there from Nov 15 to Mar 15 - 4 very special months!

Dana, Well, we got home Thursday night and are now back in our groove of daily life in Ohio. Your place in St.-Jean de Luz was everything you said it would be and worked very well for us. Everything worked as advertised. We didn't watch TV at all. We had lunch at Chez Michel and dinner at Chez Pascal's and both were most enjoyable. Good recommendations. We walked all over town, over to Cibore and Socoa, out to the fort and north along the seaside trail. Weather was good. Cloudy every morning, sunny most afternoons...lovely. We slept every night with the window open. We noticed that the town is a very family oriented vacation spot for the French. We heard almost no English, German or Italian spoken on the street or anywhere. Quite unusual in our experience in Europe. The whole experience was very nice. We wondered what the place is like when you are there over the winter. Is it a winter resort like Florida, with "snow birds" coming down, or is it rather empty of visitors? Thanks for making your place available to us. We enjoyed our visit.

May 2011 Hi Dana My heart and soul are still there--we had a great time. Your apartment is wonderful, great location, and St Jean de Luz is delightful. I've just this morning directed one of my colleagues who is going to France in the fall and after staying with friends in Bordeaux has an uncommitted week that he should consider St. Jean de Luz and contacting you. If he does name is Vic Tousignault. US dollars is fine for the deposit. Whatever works best for you is fine by me. Thank you again for letting us spend time in your wonderful second home.

arch 2010 In July 2009, we stayed at Dana’s apartment in St Jean de Luz. St Jean is a lovely little fishing village just south of Biarittz on the SW coast - close to the Spanish border. The apt is a wonderful French studio with parquet wooden floors and lovely mountain views through the French doors. It is nicely decorated, fully equipped and right on the beach front, meaning its only a 50 meter walk around the corner to get the beach, which was perfect for us. The beach is a magnificent long stretch of golden sand with calm, almost wave free water. At night we visited the wonderful restaurants in the village. The Pyrenees are close by for walking in the mountains or one can catch an old train to the top & take in the stunning views. We also took a day trip to see a stage of the Tour de France and another to see the historic Spanish town of San Sebastian. Generally, however, we were content to stay at the beach and in our peaceful apartment. We had such a wonderful week in St Jean de Luz that we have booked another 2 weeks. Regards Bryan M UK

June 25 2009 Dear Dana First of all many thanks for the fantastic stay in La Pergola. Do not forget it was our 5th stay in Saint Jean de Luz and the best. The studio is comfortable and with the sympathetic signs of your presence like advice to go Chez Michel. The next year we are intended to join you again. Your fidel client B Ghorunov, Russia Jan 15 2010 Hello Dana, I am still continuing to be a fan of Saint-Jean de Luz. I have seen the calendar on your site and I should like to book La Pergola from 13.06 to 26.06. Your fidel client B Ghorunov, Russia
