Location: Kingston, Puget Sound, Washington State, USA (Walk to Kingston Ferry and Village, 1 Hour to Seattle.)
Accommodations: House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4-6)
Peaceful, secluded waterfront property on Carpenter Estuary, just half a mile from the Kingston ferry and village. Our home offers a friendly seaside experience of the Sound, within easy striking distance of Seattle, Edmonds, and Bainbridge. This 1100+ square foot, sea-side cottage, is perched on over 500 feet of your own private waterfront, just off the Puget Sound. Kayak right off the dock out to the Sound waters, or take a casual swim in the calm [and warmer!] waters right outside the back door. The Estuary is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including many species of bird [eagles, king fishers, cranes, ducks, etc], and deer. Bald eagles frequently can be seen atop the trees or circling overhead, all from the backyard deck. The dock itself is a great place for fishing at any time of the year.
We’ve recently completely remodeled the house. We’ve added a large view deck, hardwood floors and a warm inviting décor, which creates a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. The fully-equipped kitchen has a microwave and all the other conveniences you’d want to find in your own place. The spacious living area is oriented towards the water so that you can enjoy the view while spending time with company or just relaxing by yourself.
Both bedrooms contain queen size beds and all sheets are at least 600 thread count, with luxurious featherbed's and down comforters. The couch in the living room also pulls out into a comfortable queen-size bed [with featherbed and down comforter in the hall closet for added softness!]. Easily sleeps six.
The living room features an all brick, natural wood fireplace. The window walls afford a full 180 degree view of the water and wildlife, yet allow complete privacy due to orientation of the house towards the water. Spacious lawn, deck, and bedrooms offer play space for children.
Located in Kingston, the gateway of the Olympic Peninsula, with incredible hiking and outdoor opportunities, our home overlooks a sheltered estuary that is always teeming with wildlife. On top of this, there is a public beach directly across from our property [on the other side of the road] that is great for beachcombing, swimming, sailing, water-skiing, kayaking, and fishing. If you’re a dog person [like us] then your pet is going to have a wonderful time swimming in the water and exploring with you. Several grocery stores, restaurants, bars, and other amenities all within reasonable walking distance [close enough to walk to, far enough away so the property is very private]. Plenty of golf, cultural attractions, and other activities also close by. The area is also home to The Salish Point Casino and The Suquamish Clearwater Casino, both of which are just minutes away.
There are beautiful walks and hikes right from the front door; the house is right off a main road, so it is easy to find from any direction. The house lies on the edge of the nearby village of Kingston, which still has that easy going, quaint seaside town feel that is just so welcoming and friendly! Walk through the village and pick up your espresso, homemade ice-cream, or famous crepes, and watch the world go by.
Historic Poulsbo (12 minutes), and Edmonds (25 minutes via ferry), with their many galleries, artisan shops, ethnic restaurants and picturesque waterfront are major tourist destinations. The area is also a convenient point of departure for exploring Port Townsend, Bainbridge Island, and the Olympic National Forest. And if you like movies, be sure to visit historic Fort Warden State Park, and see if you can recognize locations from the hit movie "An Officer and a Gentleman". For guests interested in more urban exploration, Seattle is also an easy day-trip via the Kingston-Edmonds ferry. We hope you get the chance to experience our vacation home. We love it and are sure you will too!
