Avignon rests imposingly on the route between Spain and Italy where the Rhone River approaches the Mediterranean Sea, and the regions of Provence and the Languedoc meet... Southern France at it's most beautiful. Thousands of years of history, steeped in religion and politics, overflowing with architectural masterpieces, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
Behind its ancient walls and ramparts, through war and weather-worn arched entrances, Avignon offers today's visitors the opportunity to explore a plethora of winding, cobbled streets, to visit stunning old buildings, appreciate the museums and galleries, scour the markets, absorb the theatre productions and dine in its many delightful and colourful restaurants and cafes.
The surrounding countryside offers the undulating hills of Provence where Marcel Pagnol and Fredric Mistral lived and drew inspiration. The beautiful perched medieval villages, the acres and acres of vines and olive groves, fruit orchards and lavender fields, all contribute to tantalising the senses in every respect. With the Cote d'Azur close by the coastal resorts of Cassis, Marseille, Cannes,St. Tropez, along with many lesser known but equally delightful beaches, are enticing.
In a quiet residential quarter within the old town and within 100 meters of bakeries, cafes, restaurants, book stores and on to all that Avignon offers, the apartment I've called "Le Coeur d'Avignon", is extremely easy to locate. Fully restored during the early months of 2007, it offers high ceilings, spacious rooms and windows on three sides; all rooms are wonderfully light and sunny. A total living area of 85m2 plus the terrace and garage.
"Le Coeur d'Avignon" has one bedroom with queen sized (160cm) bed, ensuite bathroom (bath, shower, wc, hand basin), armchair, armoire, a bulging bookcase and views out over the neighbouring gardens; a second bedroom with twin (2x90cm) or king (180cm) bed, walk-in dressing room and another bulging bookcase...a separate bathroom (shower, wc, hand basin)....space and comfort for all. The spacious lounge/dining room with its sofa and armchairs, cable TV and wood burning fireplace, is a delight. The eat-in "cafe style" kitchen is large and fully equipped with double doors leading onto the terrace where you will find table, chairs and bbq ... yet another choice of dining area!
The apartment has central heating should you visit during the cooler months, a fully equipped laundry, and speedy internet access if your "holiday" means keeping in touch with the office!
Last but by no means least....your own private, lock-up garage.
Please don't hesitate to ask about long winter lets at negotiable prices, I'd rather have the apartment lived in and loved than empty! |
