PRIVACY! This home is located on almost 6 acres of land, giving you the privacy and peace that you have come to Alaska for. It is conveniently located in the city limits of Homer and is only 3 to 4 miles from the city center. The house is located on a bluff that overlooks emerald lakes and the beaches of Kachemak Bay just below.
You can hear the murmur of the ocean from the porch and watch eagles soaring on the updrafts overhead. Before you stretches the striking visual panorama of Kachemak Bay, Cook Inlet, the Kenai mountains and the volcanoes of the Alaska Range.
This newly remodeled house has a wall of windows to take full advantage of the view and thoughtfully placed window treatments to shut out the midnight sun for those not used to our long daylight hours at bedtime. There is an access ramp to the house and the entire lower floor is handicapped accessible. Spend the afternoon on the large deck and grill your fish for a fresh Alaskan dinner. This house is a truly comfortable residence with all of the conveniences of home.

We stayed here for 2 nights in August, 2011. It was absolutely amazing. The view is beautiful and the house was exactly what we expected. I would recommend staying here to anyone. Wonderful !!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: I always enjoy my guests and am pleased to hear that they have enjoyed the house and Homer so much. There is so much to see and do in this area that you should spend an extra day off of the road and explore our area

The house has a beautiful view across the water, not really obvious in the photos. But the water is very far away! Take binoculars. It's very isolated, clean. We were very comfortable. You will need a car to get to Homer.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

Pat, Steve and I had been on a birding field trip for 10 days. We wanted some extra time in Alaska where we could do things at a slower pace and just appreciate the setting, as well as the flora and fauna. Holly and Rex's Alaskan Cottage certainly fit the bill. Situated on a bluff, the cottage has beautiful views and lots of birds flying by. The cottage sits on a lovely setting and Homer is a wonderful place to visit. We were very comfortable with the accommodations and hope to return for the Shorebird Festival in a subsequent year. We will return all the best, Susie, Steve and PatRecommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

wonderfully secluded, but easy access off the stirling highway. we found your cottage self sustained and thoughtfully outfitted in one of the most spectacular settings i have been in. wildlife, volcano and astronomy viewing from the cottage and it's decks are beautiful. we found many family activities to pursue in homer, from fishing, kayaking, sea planing and horseback riding. it felt like a fabulous home away from home, and accommodated us all comfortably. we thank you for your wonderful hospitality/service! we hope to return for a repeat performance, joanne and kidsRecommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

We've stayed in this wonderful cabin and have rented it for my son and his girlfriend as well. It's quiet, beautifully kept up with nice "Alaskan" decor, really roomy, clean with a wonderful view and minutes away from Homer. The ravens like to catch the drafts and ride them up and down the cliff. It's such a treat to sit outside on the deck, see the beauty of Kachemak Bay in such a serene place.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

We spent our mornings out on the deck watching the wildlife. An eagle nests in a tree right on the beach. Otters play out in the shallows and as the tide goes out a colony of seals use the exposed rocks to sun themselves. The view from every angle is superb. Loved it!Did you find this review helpful?
