Just about a mile from the village of Twain Harte you’ll find Tall Pines Homestead (elevation 3600 feet), nestled against a mountian side and across from a meadow, popular with grazing deer. Sitting up off the road and behind a veil of trees that give this Homestead its name, you may pass by Tall Pines the first time!

The large 3.5 (den w/futon, perfect for kids) bedroom, 3 bath home allows for privacy, yet is roomy enough to host up to eight people for meals and conversations by the fire. In the summer, you can barbecue and enjoy the sun’s last rays filtering through the trees onto the front porch. In winter, build a fire and relax in the cozy living area. Many say their favorite pastime at the Homestead is simply hanging out and relaxing.

But if you want to "plug in," don’t fret. There's a desktop PC avaialable for your use, as well as WiFi if you're bringing your own device. We also provide 4 satellite TV’s and 3 DVD players. You can get away from it all and still stay connected. And yes, we do get cell phone reception.

Just a few minutes’ drive into Twain Harte Village (1.5 miles) and you’ll find restaurants, gourmet grocery shopping, antiquing, and summertime weekend festivals (free outdoor Fri night movies and Sat night concerts in Eproson Park!).

The "Heart of the Motherlode," Twain Harte is central to all the best the Sierra Foothills has to offer.

You’ll be within a short drive of Yosemite Valley, Pinecrest Lake, Kennedy Meadows, Black Oak Casino, Downtown Sonora (the county seat of Toulumne) Columbia State Park, Dodge Ridge Winter Sports Area, Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, Amador County Wine Country, Lake Tulloch and Lake Don Pedro.

  • Tall Pines Homestead was a real "find" for our family. We have visited Twain Harte many times and Tall Pines was by far the best. The house was more like a home; very warm and very family friendly. We are planning another visit in the Fall.

  • We had a pre-Christmas family celebration at Tall Pines. It was GREAT. The home was clean, large, and comfortable. The kitchen had all the neccessities. The home has a good floor plan for two familes to share. The fireplace/stove was great and the wood is included. It is nice that linens are included. Many vacation rentals don't include linens and you spend too much time packing clean, and then used linens. This home is close to Twain Harte and a short ride back to Sonora or JamesTown. We had a great time at Tall Pines.

The care and attention to detail that have been put into the house was apparent and appreciated. From the down comforters and décor to the DSL and Direct TV this was top notch!
