10/5-9/2007 - After a couple days in Waikiki, The Sharks Cove Getaway was an excellent way to spend our last few days in Oahu. We traveled the windward side of the island from Oahu and it was gorgeous. Our short stay did not warrant a Costco stop and with Foodland within walking distance we had everything we needed. Close to excellent snorkeling, a walk across the street to Sharks Cove, a short walk to Three Tables and a short drive to Waimea Bay. The house is spacious with ipod dock, high-speed internet access (and a desk with an excellent view of Sharkâs Cove), a huge lanai, new bar-b-que, bikes and everything you need to enjoy a day at the beach. A shared full size washer and dryer with soap and dryer sheets was handy. The view from the bedrooms gives the feeling of being in a tree-house. We did not notice there was no TV in the room until our last night. Linens are new and plentiful. The nightly rain was enjoyable. This is the wet side of the island so lots of gorgeous vegetation.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 9/13

Could not ask for a better location. Walking distance (or use the provided bikes) to Waimea Bay and the grocery store. Or just walk across the street for the best snorkeling at Shark's Cove. Yes, there is traffic noise since this house sits on the main road. But this makes great people watching (and ocean watching). Definitely a "cottage" feel with wood walls and dark carpet, but comfortable and charming. Well equipped kitchen and large main bedroom. Smaller bedroom would be perfect if traveling with kids. Enjoyed using provided beach chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We really enjoyed our time at your home. We stayed for the 3 nights at the end of a two week vacation. We had a wonderful time at the Marriot Maui Ocean Club and Turtle Bay before our arrival and our kids still said the house was their favorite place. After one long day snorkeling my 5-year old asked if we could get back home to our "cozy little cottage." It was nice to have a chance to relax, grill at home and do laundry after so many nights out at restaurants and playing hard. Dinner and cards on the front porch watching the giant waves was wonderful. We really appreciate the hospitality of the owner and the cleaners to allow us an incredibly late check-out to accommodate our late flight back home. Thank you!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our 3rd year at this wonderful location. As usual, the house was great. Always relaxing and away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. Great weather had us snorkeling everyday across the road and even an easy swim down at Waimea Beach. Definitely back again next year.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed at the cottage for 6 nights in early November. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the North shore. The outstanding feature was location: to the beaches, to the super bike path which provided safe access to world class surfer viewing (and the bikes you provided), to the complete grocery store a short walk away, to the local food wagons, to Ted's bakery, and to the many day trips available to us with our rental car. Having Shark's Cove right across the street was awsome. Hope to return in the near future.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+.

Listing description and photos was accurate. We appreciated that it was an older house but was very clean and all needs provided for very well. From kitchen utentils and appliances to bikes and beach equipment every thing was well thought of. We did not have a car but enjoyed walking and cycling the very nice paths up and down the coast to the beaches. The public bus service was also convenient and we used that a few times. Having the Foodland shop close by was very convenient. It is a very good shop and all food requirements met -lots of nice fresh food as well as usual grocery lines. Information from the owners was good and we knew what to expect on arrival. We would stay here again and would recommend to others also. We came to this location to see the beaches and big surf it was -we wern't dissapointed!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

We spent 4 nights in the Sharks Cove Retreat. If you are looking for an ultra modern pristine place, this is not for you. But if you are looking for a well-equipped, comfortable beach house with an amazing location, this is your place. The location is fantastic. Across the street from the beach, walking distance to the grocery store, and a short drive to many things to see and do. Lots of great places to eat in Haleiwa just a few miles down the road, great snokeling across the street, and amazing beaches all near by. The house itself is fun and comfortable. It has a well equipped kitchen, a cozy living room and dining area, comfortable beds and an amazing view from the lanai. Not only is the house fully equipped, but it is equipped with everything you need to enjoy your time on the North Shore. Snorkel gear, beach chairs, boogie boards, bikes, ice chests for your picnic, washer and dryer and a gas barbeque. The only negative we found is the traffic noise. The house sits right on the main road in the North Shore, so there can be quite a bit of traffic noise during the day. That being said, it never posed a problem for us. The owner was great to work with and answered all our questions. Additionally, there is an on-site caretaker who is very friendly and checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. It was our first stay on the North Shore, and we hope to come back soon, and when we do, we will stay at the Sharks Cove Retreat.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

The house was a great place to stay. The fully equipped kitchen was good. The front Lanai was the best. We spent most of our time out on the Lanai. The snorkeling gear worked well. It was very convenient being located across the street from Sharks Cove. The Foodland being close by was a big plus, especially with the discount card! Great base for going different directions to Sunset, Haliewa, etc. Great stay, we totally enjoyed ourselves.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

Couldn't have been more perfect. The house has all the amenities you need and more. After a long day swimming across the street at Sharks Cove or one of the many beautiful beaches on the north shore, it was always comforting to know that we were returning to a cozy home. Thank you Michelle for your hospitality from beginning to end and for making this trip a memorable one for us. We will be back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

My husband and I and son and daughter-in-law stayed there to be close to his friend that was getting commissioned as an officer as well as his graduation from University of Hawaii. What a perfect spot!!! Had coffee every morning watching the ocean from across the road and cocktails every evening watching the sunset!!! Great snorkeling spot at Sharks Cove, right across the street. And if you take the bike path, found the perfect whit sandy beach area for sunning and swimming!!!! Everything was within walking distance. The food trucks were great, varied food which was great!!! But we pretty much barbqued every evening on the gas grill that was on the patio!!! We loved that there were beach towels and coolers available to take to the beach. Though I had to get used to the "geckos", my daughter-in-law thought they were cute, But every house has them!! We used the washer and dryer which was a bonus!!! And appreciated the full kitchen, every kind of pot and pan was there for us, and we used the rice cooker a lot!!!! Wonderful places to eat and shop in Haleiwa, and went to Turtle Bay Resort for a wonderful evening of drinks and dinner after the commissioning ceremony. Waimea Valley was down the road, what a great morning visiting there, Otherwise in the rental car and exploring. Thanks so much, we will definitely be back for another visit.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+.
