Situated at the secluded North end of the island and across the street from the ocean, this marsh-front home offers you the best of both worlds: with views of the marsh and Harbor River from the rear decks and porches as well as oceanviews from the front porches. Whether relaxing in the spacious family room, napping under a fan on the screened-in porch, sunbathing on either of the two expansive decks, or reading on any of three covered porches, Sea Psalms offers all the creature comforts you need to enjoy your respite by the sea.
This home features hardwood floors in every room other than the utility room and bathrooms, which are tiled. Tastefully decorated in blues, greens, and tans, this home has stylish--yet comfortable--furniture, a fully-equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances and quartz counter-top, a dining room with table that seats 10, and adjacent bar that seats 2. A screened porch with table and chairs to seat 6, three televisions with DVD and/or video cassette capability, and books, puzzles, and board games for your enjoyment.
On Harbor Island, you can do as much or as little as you please. Island amenities include an Olympic-sized pool, baby pool, playground, tennis courts, basketball courts, sand volleyball court, weight room and cardio fitness room. If shopping is your choice, you are just 18 miles away from the charming and quaint antique and specialty shops of historic Beaufort and Port Royal and 45 miles away from the Tanger Outlets at Hilton Head. If doing nothing is your flavor, then all you'll have to do is choose which of the porches or decks you like and then choose between gazing at playful dolphins or meandering shrimp boats in the ocean or migratory birds and stunning sunsets over the marsh. We are a very active family of five! Our three daughters keep us on the move and enjoying life.....we have been blessed, indeed.
Why the Owner Chose Harbor Island
We grew up on the South Carolina coast and are life-long South Carolinians. We had driven "by" Harbor Island several times going to Fripp Island, but never noticed Harbor because it was a private island and you couldn't get on the island unless you were a homeowner or guest of one. A friend purchased a place there and we rented from him in 2004 and loved the solitude of the beach, quaintness of the island and all the wildlife. On our second day of vacation, we were looking at property and bought our property later that year. We took a year to design the house for multiple families and settled on a 5 BR - 5 BA home that was completed in the summer of '06. Since that time, we have sold out each summer and are delighted to call many of them "repeat guests"!
The Unique Benefits of this Beach House with Golf Cart
We love the positioning of our house...you can stand in the kitchen and see the marsh out of the back windows and the ocean out of the front windows. You can actually see Editsto while standing in our kitchen. We love our proximity to the beach (right across the street) and the quietness of the West End of the island. There are only 4 rental houses north of us, so the beaches are always VERY quiet...you feel like you have the place to yourself every day! We love the wildlife all over the island, watching the dolphins dance and watching the shrimp boats ease by.....very peaceful.
