Serenity's Nest was named for the beauty and serenity I felt when I first visited. On the front porch are at least 5 undisturbed birds nest that yearly have new arrivals and can be viewed from the couch in the front room. In spring feedings may be viewed. I have viewed beavers, deer, raccoons so many different birds, including the Blue Herring, chipmunks, squirrels, and of course the fish that jump from the river and occasionally a turtle is spotted. This cabin is a great place to bring your family for a great peaceful vacation, but yet close to the many activities that Houghton Lake area offers. Fishing from the rivers edge can be great fun for the whole family, the evening campfire can be a relaxing way to end your day, or enjoy a late night snack, a hot dog (Koegles Vienna best in MI) or maybe a smore. Come and enjoy your home away from home at Serenity's Nest.
Recreation.: Houghton Lake offers many activities. Lots of shopping, a movie theater ,boat and skido rentals available. There is a state boat launch and room to park your boat at the cabin. Merritt Speedway just minutes from the cabin. Lake City 15 miles from the cabin.

My husband and I just got back from a wonderful 2 days at "Serenity's Nest" It was so quiet and peaceful. The Cabin is awesome. It was well equiped and clean. We Loved the Birchwood furniture. We would definately recommend this Cabin to friends and family...Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, families with young children.

The cabin was a quiet and peaceful getaway. My husband and I enjoyed our stay for a fall getaway weekend. The river behind the cabin was very serene and peaceful. However the cabin was not as cleanly as it could be (ie. dead mouse in the empty trashcan), (dusty). Also the gas grill was great for barbequeing, but there was not much gas left. Pets are welcome with no fee. Renters are responsible to vacuum entire cabin of all dog hair and remove all animal waist from the property, or forfeit pet deposit for cleaning fee. Pet cleaning fee is not the same as cabin cleaning fee two separate fees.
Call for reservation with credit or debit card. Deposit is 50.00 a night to reserve or 200.00 for a week . Deposit is non refundable if canceled within 30 days of reservation. A 50.00 deposit is required for pets and will be refunded only after check out inspection.
