  Five of us came for the weekend with 2 dogs and it was perfect for us. We wanted a lazy weekend to relax and that is exactly what we did. Best Deal gave us everything we wanted - close to the beach, and homey feeling. The dining table was perfect for games. As was stated in another review, if you have a dog, you might want to bring a gate to keep him on the top deck. There are enclosed decks off the kitchen and master bedroom. We have a beagle and he has to follow his nose when a scent comes his way. We all loved seeing the deer visit in the lot next door, and Rusty loved trying to track them later in the day. You must get an apple ugly from The Orange Blossom Bakery if you go, but they close at 11. As stated in another review, the internet fades in and our. Our techie said to cut off the wifi on your device and cut it back on. We did this each time it went out and it came back on. It's probably a router problem and we did have 3-4 devices running at one time. We are already looking at going for a week at another time.

  Formerly the private home of the owner, Best Deal is still loaded with lots of personal touches, collectables galore, charming art and photos, and comfortable furniture. The house is surrounded by scrub oak and other natural beach shrubs that let me wake up every morning to chirping birds and the feeling of being in the trees. The house is small by OBX standards with 3 bedrooms, and it's cozy without feeling at all crowded. The kitchen is well equipped and nicely laid out to make cooking easy. Be prepared for lots of stair cliimbing. The kitchen and den are on the 3rd floor, all bedrooms are on the second, and the washer/dryer is a half flight farther down. The owner is local and really responsive to any calls. Lots of pretty sunsets and plenty of good star gazing from the various decks. Very convenient to the Food Lion grocery store, and a quick ride to the National Seashore and the Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton. My only complaint is that the wind was uncooperative as I was trying to learn to kite board. I will definitely book Best Deal again.

  Our three week vacation was fantastic. We had assorted company throughout and everyone had a wonderful time. The house was ideal both sizewise and proximity to beach and other activites. Any issues were promptly and satisfactorily addressed by owner. We enjoyed all the knick/knacks, art work and furnishings that gave the property "character". I would definitely recommend to friends/family and others with a small (3-5) group. The only problem was -- we had to go home to 106 degree temperatures. Thanks, for a memorable vacation./K

  The house is exactly as described. There are lots of charming details in this house that you probably won't find in other places: some lovely antique furniture pieces, and lots and lots of unique art and photos in every room and hallway, which make the place feel like a home. The house is very near local shops, the grocery store, and theater (handy on rainy days). For me, Avon is a great location because it's very close to the ocean and sound with good local amenities, but far enough away from the overdeveloped, heavily trafficked cities further north. It's a very short drive to the Cape Hatteras Light House in Buxton, which is definitely worth the trip. From the top deck of the house, you can see little bits of the sound over the treetops on clear days. There's cable tv, which worked great and DSL wireless internet access that was a little spotty (might not work great if you're trying to watch a netflix movie - but worked fine for smartphone access). There are lots of open stairs in the house, so if you have toddlers or pets, I recommend bringing a few baby gates. I would definitely recommend this house.

  This was our 2nd stay at Best Deal. Some updates since our last stay, new quilts, furniture changes, etc. We found the house to be clean and comfortable. Although it rained everyday and we couldn't go to the beach, we spent alot of time exploring the island and visited places we otherwise may not have. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. If you go be sure to visit Fisherman"s Daughter and Jewels by the Sea. You won't be disapointed. Also, if you venture down to Hatteras, visit Gringo's Tacos. You won't be disapointed. Thank you to the owner for another GREAT vacation!

  We love this place, that's why we came back again this year. The description and pictures in the listing are close to being accurate, but this is such a great home, it has to be seen to be appreciated. It is very clean and well kept. The owner was very easy to work with each time we stayed here. I would certainly recommend this property to anyone looking for a great vacation home.

  This home is lovely and was perfect for our family of 6. The location in Avon is convenient and close to everything that we needed to enjoy our vacation. The owners were extremely helpful in answering all of our questions and we look forward to staying again in the near future.

  The house is much better than anticipated based on the priced and pictures posted on VRBO. The housing community was beautiful, the location was excellent, and the owner easy to work with. Recommended for groups six and under. We had six adults and we fit fine, but there was not room for more. This is not a mulit-million dollar mansion like others in The Outer Banks, but it is very comfortable and clean. Everything you need and more. It's a homey space.

  My husband and I arrive September 30, 2011 we stayed for the week...the house was wonderful...location great. Couldn't have asked for a better vacation!! We would recommend this home to anyone wanting to travel to the OBX.
