This new beautiful log cabin was completed in August 2006. It is located just 5 miles from Angel Fire Resort where the famous ski area is located, 3 miles from a wonderful recreational lake that includes fishing, canoeing, and paddle boats, and 4 miles from an excellent PGA 18-hole golf course. The cabin is over 2000 square feet and sits on 2+ fenced acreage outside of the resort area. It is at the end of a private road which allows for privacy and a little more peace and quiet than what is offered in town. Coming from the hustle and bustle of the city, you will be able to enjoy the sounds of nature and a very peaceful atmosphere. The nights are very quiet and serene with the heavens outpouring beautiful big stars for your enjoyment. Just a few miles down the road from the cabin, is the beautiful valley where "Lonesome Dove" was filmed. A short drive will take you to the scene and you can still see the small cabin used in the movie.
There is also a very special unique winery just below the cabin as you are driving up. It is a restored log barn built in the late 1800's. The corrals have been preserved to create the perfect outdoor setting for wine tasting, entertainment and just relaxing.
There are numerous activities in Angel Fire and the entire Moreno Valley as mentioned above. There is a special road just a mile from our cabin, that will take you to a very beautiful old Catholic Church. You can go inside and look around. The Church was built back in the early 1900's by ranchers in the area, for a place to worship. There are those who still worship there. The same road will take you to Tres Ritos. It is approximately a 2 hour drive, but the scenery is beautiful. You will climb up to the very top of the mountain, see many streams and wildlife. It will take you to Mora. You can then go into Mora and take Hwy 434 back to Black Lake and Angel Fire; another beautiful drive.
Fall is a special time of year. The colors are beautiful! The aspens on our place and on the mountains appear to be like gold coins jingling in the wind. The nights are cool and just right for a fire in the fireplace. Accessible in all seasons, the property includes a very large flat area for outdoor sports and a sloping mountain with lots of trees to hike and explore through. A perfect place for kids, young and old to play. Not only do we have the aspens, but have numerous pine and douglas fir trees; not enough to block the view of the beautiful mountains and unbelievable sunsets. In the springtime and summer, the wild flowers and strawberries decorate the landscape with color. In the winter, there is a very large area for you to play in the snow, take a spin in your snowmobile, or go to town and enjoy lots of activities. Winter holds lots of fun, with skiing only 5 miles away, snowboarding, sledding, sleigh rides, ice fishing, etc. Some prefer just to stay at the cabin and do nothing. Just sitting and staring at the beauty is enough.
If you're interested in four-wheeling/snowmobiling, you can just unload there and ride a short distance to roads that will take you up in the mountains. There are roads and trails to hike on. We have a special area for an old fashioned campfire. Roast your marshmallows, sing a few songs, and view the gorgeous starry sky. The cabin is well designed and comfortable. The décor reflects the rustic style, with vintage accents. It is a very relaxing atmosphere and a place to kick back and enjoy! There's unique assets found in this cabin such as a remote control for the huge gas fireplace, large walk-in shower with a massaging pebble floor, and a jacuzzi tub with a water fall faucet. The cabin also is a favorite place for kids. The loft is made into a "bunkhouse". We have 3 built-in beds, built under the eaves and a half bath that resembles an outhouse from the old west. The kids love it and there is plenty of room for them to play. The stairs are made out of hand-hewn douglas fir with aspen log railing. The downstairs consists of a master bedroom/bath with a king-size bed, a guest bedroom with a double bed, and another full bath. The upstairs does have the 3 single built-in beds, a regular single bed, but it also has a full futon and a queen-size sleeper sofa. The expansive carpeted floor could hold several sleeping bags. The cabin has an open floor plan with the great room consisting of the living, dining, and kitchen area. It is large enough for several families to enjoy! The views from this area are what makes this place very special. On the north/northeast side, we have a beautiful aspen grove and numerous pines on a sloped mountain. On the west side, we have the most beautiful view you could ever hope for. We have a full view of the "purple mountains majesty" off in the distance. Behind those mountains is where the sun sets for the night. God paints a beautiful sunset each night and can be seen through our very large front window. If you're a photographer, bring your camera. You will get some of the best photos that you could ever hope for. The sunsets are unique. The Ute Indians named this area as "Angel Fire", because of a firey glow on the mountain top at dusk. It looks as though there is fire on the mountain. I have seen this many times and it is most spectacular. We also have a beautiful scene in the back with lots of trees. It is a very serene and a peaceful place. The cabin has a front and back covered porch to enjoy your morning coffee or your evening wine. Just sit back, relax and enjoy! You'll never get tired of the scenery! If you are interested in more information or photos, please e-mail us or phone us and we will be glad to send you more. We would love to share this special blessing with you as it has brought us great joy! May it bless you as well! |
