A peaceful place that will take you back to a more simpler time in history.
Location: Angel Fire, New Mexico, USA (5 Miles from Angel Fire; 3 Miles from Monte Verde Lake)
Accommodations: Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 10-14)
Keywords: Cabin
This new beautiful log cabin was completed in August 2006. It is located just 5 miles from Angel Fire Resort where the famous ski area is located, 3 miles from a wonderful recreational lake that includes fishing, canoeing, and paddle boats, and 4 miles from an excellent PGA 18-hole golf course. The cabin is over 2000 square feet and sits on 2+ fenced acreage outside of the resort area. It is at the end of a private road which allows for privacy and a little more peace and quiet than what is offered in town. Coming from the hustle and bustle of the city, you will be able to enjoy the sounds of nature and a very peaceful atmosphere. The nights are very quiet and serene with the heavens outpouring beautiful big stars for your enjoyment. Just a few miles down the road from the cabin, is the beautiful valley where "Lonesome Dove" was filmed. A short drive will take you to the scene and you can still see the small cabin used in the movie.
There is also a very special unique winery just below the cabin as you are driving up. It is a restored log barn built in the late 1800's. The corrals have been preserved to create the perfect outdoor setting for wine tasting, entertainment and just relaxing.
There are numerous activities in Angel Fire and the entire Moreno Valley as mentioned above. There is a special road just a mile from our cabin, that will take you to a very old Catholic Church. You can go inside and look around. The Church was built back in the early 1900's by ranchers in the area, for a place to worship. There are those who still worship there. The same road will take you to Tres Ritos. It is approximately a 2 hour drive, but the scenery is beautiful. You will climb up to the very top of the mountain, see many streams and wildlife. It will take you to Mora. You can then go into Mora and take Hwy 434 back to Black Lake and Angel Fire; another beautiful drive.
Fall is a special time of year. The colors are beautiful! The aspens on our place and on the mountains appear to be like gold coins jingling in the wind. The nights are cool and just right for a fire in the fireplace.
Accessible in all seasons, the property includes a very large flat area for outdoor sports and a sloping mountain with lots of trees to hike and explore through. A perfect place for kids, young and old to play. Not only do we have the aspens, but have numerous pine and douglas fir trees; not enough to block the view of the beautiful mountains and unbelievable sunsets. In the springtime and summer, the wild flowers and strawberries decorate the landscape with color. In the winter, there is a very large area for you to play in the snow, take a spin in your snowmobile, or go to town and enjoy lots of activities. Winter holds lots of fun, with skiing only 5 miles away, snowboarding, sledding, sleigh rides, ice fishing, etc. We provide six sleds for good clean fun! Some prefer just to stay at the cabin and do nothing. Just sitting and staring at the beauty is enough.
If you're interested in four-wheeling/snowmobiling, you can just unload there and ride a short distance to roads that will take you up in the mountains. There are roads and trails to hike on. We have a special area for an old fashioned campfire. Roast your marshmallows, sing a few songs, and view the gorgeous starry sky.
The cabin is well designed and comfortable. The décor reflects the rustic style, with vintage accents. It is a very relaxing atmosphere and a place to kick back and enjoy! There are unique assets found in this cabin such as a remote control for the huge gas fireplace, large walk-in shower with a massaging pebble floor, and a jacuzzi tub with a water fall faucet. The cabin also is a favorite place for kids. The loft is made into a "bunkhouse". We have 3 built-in beds, built under the eaves and a half bath that resembles an outhouse from the old west. The kids love it and there is plenty of room for them to play. The stairs are made out of hand-hewn douglas fir with aspen log railing.
The first floor consists of a master bedroom/bath with a king-size bed, a guest bedroom with a double bed, and another full bath. The upstairs does have the 3 single built-in beds, a regular single bed and double bed, but it also has a full futon and a queen-size sleeper sofa. The expansive carpeted floor could hold several sleeping bags.
The cabin has an open floor plan with the great room consisting of the living, dining, and kitchen area. It is large enough for several families to enjoy! The views from this area are what makes this place very special. On the north/northeast side, we have a beautiful aspen grove and numerous pines on a sloped mountain. On the west side, we have the most beautiful view you could ever hope for. We have a full view of the "purple mountains majesty" off in the distance. Behind those mountains is where the sun sets for the night. God paints a beautiful sunset each night and can be seen through our very large front window. If you're a photographer, bring your camera. You will get some of the best photos that you could ever hope for. The sunsets are unique. The Ute Indians named this area as "Angel Fire", because of a firey glow on the mountain top at dusk. It looks as though there is fire on the mountain. I have seen this many times and it is most spectacular. We also have a beautiful scene in the back with lots of trees. It is a very serene and a peaceful place.
The cabin has a front and back covered porch to enjoy your morning coffee or your evening wine. Just sit back, relax and enjoy! You'll never get tired of the scenery!
If you are interested in more information or photos, please e-mail us or phone us and we will be glad to send you more.
We would love to share this special blessing with you as it has brought us great joy! May it bless you as well!

Everything was as described. Our 4 year old was able to keep herself occupied the whole time we were there both inside and outside! The upstairs had kids books, toys, stuffed animals and a dart board. She would refer to the cabin as the palace! Far enough out to be apart of nature but still close to town. We will be back again! Thanks Rosie and Curtis

All we can say is "no one wanted to leave this Peace of Heaven" or the mountains. The cabin is awesome with all you could need provided. Where we live you could not even imagine not having air conditioning in July but that was never even missed. The cabin was very comfortable and roomy for the 8 of us (our 4 grandkids loved the loft and so did we)! There wasn't an inch of the acreage that they did not cover and the chipmunks provided much entertainment. We went white water rafting, horseback riding, fly-fishing, hiked, shopped, jeep toured, read and RELAXED. All activities were within an easy drive. Oh yes, can't forget the campfire and smores! AND... the kids played on the wagon one day and it was everything from a Wild West Wagon to a Spaceship (imaginations at work)! Our youngest grandson enjoyed the tree swing. We loved Red River. Sunsets are beautiful from the front porch and we got some really nice photos. From the front bedroom I watched a lightening storm late one night. Awesome to drift off to sleep with... the smell of rain and cool breezes drifting through the windows. This trip was about relaxation, family and making memories. Rosie and Curtis are the nicest people. They answered our questions and even gave us a call upon arrival to be sure all was well. Thanks Rosie and Curtis for sharing your lovely cabin in the mountains. We definately made MEMORIES. I must share this funny..we had just unpacked when there was a knock at the door and the lady said "YOU ARE IN OUR CABIN". Fortunately I had just talked with Rosie and knew that we were in the right house. We called Rosie and she was able to clear up the confusion, the people from Ohio were actually in the cabin down the hill from our cabin. You can only imagine the look on each of our faces at the lady's declaration. Thanks again for a wonderful stay. We had a blast! Winter MUST be AWESOME as well.

We arrived in early February and the cabin was warm and wonderful. It is great being a kid and playing in the snow. I'm 50 years old and enjoyed this cabin like a 10 year old on Christmas Morning. Everything was clean and the kitchen is perfect if you love to cook. Rosie and Curtis checked in with us to make sure we made it ( it snowed a bunch). The drive was plowed and the caretaker was a call away if we needed anything. This Cabin is perfection. PS. I am writing this review in the hottest part of July. The reason it took me so long is I forgot to write it when we got home and now I was checking availability. Talk to you soon Rosie and Curtis!! We are coming back.

This place is incredible! From the moment we arrived we were right at home. The kids had a blast with plenty to do inside and out. We all enjoyed bike rides to the wonderful winery just down the road, jeeping and hiking trails nearby, horseback riding, and summer activities at the ski area. When there was nothing going on we sat outside and listened to the hummingbirds or down by the campfire making smores. The home is beautiful, cozy and is equiped with absolutely evertything you could need during your stay. Oh and not to mention the owners Rosie and Curtis are the best of host. Only downside was having to leave...We plan on returning again!

The boys, 11,5 and 2 loved the cabin. We did too! Very clean. Angel Fire is the best place to stay after touring the other cities on the enchanted circle. Lots to do in the summer. If your kids need some space to use thier imaginations, this is the place. They made tree forts, gathered treasures (rocks and sticks) and played outside almost the whole time. THeyalso love the big bathtub! The Priddy's were so nice and were not "hard sell" like most of the other owners I talked to.

The description and photographs do not even begin to provide the proper justification this property warrants. To begin with, prior to our stay Rosie was a forthcoming wealth of knowledge. She even provided various mileage points in efforts to help me train for a marathon during my stay! Then, there is the view. Completely breathtaking. Throughout the stay I was continually taken back by this view, finding myself in awe of God's creation. Sleds (provided by the owners) and the hill below provided endless hours of entertainment for our children as did the ski slopes only five minutes away. The cabin was a true log cabin in the mountains experience. The big fireplace, abundance of windows and very cozy feel was wonderful. However, the open layout allowed my family the opportunity for togetherness yet was large enough that we never felt crowded. Being surrounded by my family at all times, even when in the loft area, was truly priceless. I soaked in every moment of this closeness. Peace of Heaven was perfect for our family. Thank you Rosie and Curtis for allowing God to blanket us in blessings through the use of your cabin. We anxiously look forward to our next stay. A most grateful Texas family

We lost our son, Justin "JT" Taylor to a motocross accident in June 2007. We were lost on how to handle the first holiday season without him. By the grace of God and some angels above, your family came into our lives to give us a "Peace of Heaven" to go to for Christmas. How perfect of a name is that for us? Your family was over accomodating for us in every way, and your cabin was truly a Peace of Heaven. It was a trip we will never forget where our whole family could stay in the cabin together, be close to the slopes where we skiied every day, and then gathered around the "remote controlled" fireplace (!!) in the evenings. The place was absolutely gorgeous, serene, and being up in the mountains got me "closer to Heaven and to JT"...I cannot thank you enough for your hospitality and thoughtfulness, over and beyond what I ever expected. In JT's memory, riding #97 and saying "Just Follow Me Over"... May God Bless You, Karen, Matt, Cody Taylor and my family
Owner response:When we purchased the land that the cabin sits on, we dedicated it to the Lord and His work! Little did we know or understand what tremendous things He would accomplish with it! So many have expressed that they have found peace and a sense of healing while visiting! We feel so priviledged that He uses it as a channel for His "Peace of Heaven". It is such a great blessing to share it! Thank you Karen for sharing your story with others! May you continue to feel God's love and His children's prayers for you and your family! May God bless you!

This was one of the most beautiful Cabins I have stayed in. I have been vacationing in the Rockies for 32years and this was absolutely a magnificent setting. I will surely stay again, with my grandchildren. Thank you so much for sharing your home.
