LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! Our cabin sits on five private acres on Cove Mountain. It is nestled at the end of a private drive. Although you are close to conveniences, you feel as if you are in a totally secluded setting. It also faces the west so you see beautiful sunsets every evening. Our cabin is right on the edge of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, only three hundred yards away. Situated in Wears Valley, TN, about 9 miles from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, this cabin is in an ideal location that many cabin and chalet rentals do not offer.
All local and long distance phone calls and high speed DSL 'wireless' internet is also provided FREE!
Our log cabin is truly all natural wood (there is NO sheet rock anywhere in this cabin). Our cabin is very spacious (about 2400 sq ft). There are three levels of living space. The main level has two bedrooms, each with a queen bed and private bathroom, the living room has HDTV/LCD satellite TV, stone fireplace and open concept kitchen and dining area. There is a large deck off the main living area, with plenty of rocking chairs to enjoy the breathtaking views. The space boasts floor to ceiling windows, which makes you feel as if you are floating in the clouds. The views are absolutely spectacular.
The upper floor is a loft style, with high ceilings and plenty of natural light, which means amazing views from every angle. There are two queen beds on the loft level, and a full bath.
The lower level boasts an entire wall of glass with doors to a beautiful deck. The deck features plenty of seating, and a warm and bubbly jacuzzi that looks out into the valley. There are two queen size sleeper sofas, a pool table, and an HDTV/LCD TV with satellite, video games galore: PLAYSTATION 2 and XBOX 360 with several games for both systems (like Guitar Hero 3 Legends of Rock, Madden NFL Football, NBA Live Basketball, MLB Baseball, FIFA Soccer, Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga, Indiana Jones, Kung Fu Panda, Finding Nemo, Project Gotham Racing 3, Ghost Recon, Advanced Warfighter.
Although our cabin is located very high on the mountain, the roads are all well paved thus providing easy access. There's also plenty of parking if you have multiple cars.
Our cabin may be very secluded, but it is very convenient in that it is not too far from everything in town. For example, there is a gas station (with groceries) at the foot of the mountain and a Kroger grocery store that is only about 5 miles away. There's also a Krispy Kreme doughnut shop just 10 minutes away! Shopping malls, premium outlets, restaurants, antique and craft shops, and plenty of attractions are a short drive away. If the crowded areas of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge have zapped your energy, relax on the deck of Next Step Heaven, and listen to nature around you.
Many hiking trails are located near the cabin site, as well as what the National Park has to offer. Trout fishing, horse back riding, mountain biking, and white water rafting are other great adventures to seek while staying at the cabin. For what ever reason you would like to come here, we guarantee it will be relaxing, fun, and inspiring. Our Next Step Heaven cabin has one of the most beautiful breathtaking views of the Smoky Mountains. So book now and reserve your vacation plans with us. Once you have stayed at our Next Step Heaven cabin, you'll see that no other view of this wilderness can even compare. So we hope you'll enjoy your stay and book with us again someday. If you have any questions, you can email us! We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Perfect location for our spring break vacation. Our vacation was about being in the mountains, hiking and not spending a lot of money in the touristy locations of Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg. This cabin fit the bill. The location was SO CLOSE to the Metcalf bottoms entrance! Within minutes, we were in the park. It was nice not to fight the traffic on the main strip of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. The accomodations were nice too. New appliances, even washer/dryer, new couches upstairs and down, plenty of dishes, silverware and drinkware. The new owners are truly making this a great cabin. The view was spectacular.Recommended for: Families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: We're so pleased you enjoyed your vacation!! We hope you will visit us again in the future!!!

Amazing location and view!!! We really enjoyed our trip!! So many amazing things to see and a perfect cabin for our family!!! We all loved the game room and the hot tub!! New owners are doing an amazing jobs with improvements!!! Only complaints were the showers in the loft and hall bath needed to be updated (faucets and broken door) and the kitchen pots and pans, and silverware could be replaced, but still very useable!!! Also there were lots of dead ladybugs in the window sills and things up high needed to be dusted. Other than those picky things it was an amazing cabin!!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay! Since we are new owners, we are continually updating and improving the cabin. There is a brand new set of stainless steel cookware in the kitchen. The showers will be updated this Spring. It can be a challenge to schedule contractors when we are booked so solidly. We will report the need for dusting to our cabin cleaning company. Unfortunately, being in the mountains, the ladybugs are a constant battle. We will ask the cleaning company if there are some traps available for use in the windowsills. The fact that we are not local, we do rely on feedback from our guests on how to improve the cabin. So, we very much appreciate your feedback!

We had a fantastic experience at this cabin. It suited our needs perfectly. We were able to do some hiking at nearby trails in the Smokey's. The cabin has a well stocked kitchen, cozy decor, comfortable beds and stunning views. The owner, Michelle is a pleasure to work with and everything was as promised. The Christmas decorations really added to the charm of the cabin. We didn't want to leave!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Kimberly, so happy you enjoyed your family vacation! It was a pleasure to work with you, and I hope you will consider visiting us again in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in early April. The mountain & valley views are "heavenly" and the sunsets were just breathtaking. Our family, with kids ages 6 and 4, enjoyed the layout of the house & rec room. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well-stocked with pots/pans and all you need for cooking in. We enjoyed the location & privacy of being perched on the side of a mountain and found it easy & convenient to get to the area's sites & attractions. We saw lots of birds, rabbits and wild turkeys while we were there too. Communication with the owner was very helpful and there were no disappointments. Thanks so much!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

My husband and I stayed at the cabin the first week of June 2009 to celebrate my daughter's 15th b-day. We took along 5 of her friends and they had a blast. They loved to hang out at the cabin, either in the spa, playing pool and video games or just lounging on the porch admiring the beautiful view. It's amazing how wonderful it was to have 7 kids entertained all the time without any conflicts. Guitar hero was the best!!!! The cabin is very well located, close to many attractions: we went horseback riding, water rafting, go-karting, river tubing, Dollywood, and visited the Apple Barn. I even had time to read a book!! Thanks Tim, we'll be back some time soon!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My husband & I planned a very last minute getaway and this was the PERFECT place! Peaceful, beautiful, relaxing, well stocked with just about everything you might need! Tim was so easy to work with and was accomodating beyond what you find in any hotel or rental agency. Our trip was wonderful and we hope to return soon - we just can't decide if we'll bring the kids or keep this little peace of heaven on earth for ourselves! THanks again Tim :)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: Next Step Heaven is owned by Dennis and Michelle Salyers, of Ironton, Ohio. Dennis owns a large commercial and industrial contracting business in Ohio. Dennis and Michelle live on a 200+ acre farm, where they raise and breed registered Dexter Cattle (miniature cattle). They also have four horses (three Tennessee Walkers and one Haflinger). Michelle is a national and regional volunteer for an animal rescue organization (German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue), so she and Dennis routinely 'host' foster dogs, and, have a large canine brood of their own. Dennis has four beautiful children, ages 24, 22, 18 and 16. Dennis and Michelle honeymooned in Gatlinburg, TN in 2007, and fell in love with the amazing mountain views, fresh air, and relaxation of 'cabin life' so they were determined to own a little piece of 'Heaven' one day. That dream came true when they found 'Next Step Heaven' in September of 2012. They took ownership of the Cabin on October 12, 2012. Although they are new owners, the cabin has a long and successful rental history, under the prior owner. Dennis and Michelle will continue to honor that history, and are committed to providing their renters with an exceptional vacation experience. They hope you too will fall in love with the cabin, and will come back again and again.
