Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2006

We are an English couple that relocated to Estes Park, Colorado in 2006 to pursue our dreams. We had driven through Colorado in 1998 and fallen in love with the mountains, forests, and wild places. We are both passionate about being active outdoors - it is so easy to be active outdoors in Colorado! Terry manages the vacation rental property, greets guests, and helps guests to have a memorable stay! Terry's wife Jacqui, is a massage therapist and manages her own business in Estes Park.

Why the Owner Chose Estes Park

We were looking for somewhere that was in a quiet, secluded location, yet also close enough to Estes Park, Boulder and DIA, that shops, restaurants and support services are also close at hand. Downtown Estes is just 10 minutes door to door, while RMNP is 15 minutes away, and DIA is only 75 minutes. We are in an ideal location so that guests feel that they are up in the mountains, with amazing views and curious wildlife that wanders and flies in and around the property.

The Unique Benefits of this House

The best feature of our property location is the mountain location overlooking Estes Valley. We have amazing mountain views that you could just spend all day looking at! We are a short distance away from National Forest access with an abundance of trails that are great for trail running, mountain biking, hiking, and dog walking! We are also opposite an Open Space area, Hermit Park, that also has trail access for running, hiking and mountain biking.
We have personal connections with local restaurants, massage therapists, cycle hire, guided climbing, photographic and wildlife safaris, guided snowshoeing, guided hikes, and much more! If there is anything you would especially like to do while you stay with us, we will find a way to make it happen!

    • Greetings, Our family stayed in Terry's home for Christmas 2008. We have 4 daughters, ages 23, 20, 18 and 9 and there was plenty of room for all. We cooked all of our meals there. The kitchen was supplied with everything we needed. It was a cold and windy Christmas but we enjoyed staying in and playing games and watching movies. It was great to spend time together. The house was clean and ready for us when we arrived. Terry came to say Hello and welcome us - a great guy - and like someone else said, he makes you feel as if you are long time friends. We saw a herd of deer outside from the deck twice so that was quite a treat for us city folk! We would definitely stay again. Thanks Tery for the hospitality! :)

    • I was looking for a one night stay in Estes Park on a very short timeline. Terry called and had a nice, quiet room with gorgeous sunrise view. I was looking to hike and grab some photos in the early morning so the room, view etc were perfect. His lodge/home is very nice, warm, friendly and he is a very accomodating person as I got in late and left early. I will look him up again in the future

    • Since this is our 4th year to stay with Terri & Jacqui, you might say that their place is truly our "home away from home"!! T & J have been gracious hosts and now are valued friends. Their rental is even more spacious and well-appointed than the VRBO photos suggest. Already, we can't wait until next September!

The old saying goes, "There's no place like home" and this is not the case here. Active at Altitude is a place BETTER than home. Terry and Jacqui Chiplin's home not only provide you with unmatched accommodations at a bargain when compared to other hotels and inns in the area, but also provide you with a one of a kind living experience. Their beautiful home not only offers you a spectacular bedroom, but also a full kitchen, dining room, living room, and an enormous deck that overlooks the mountains and meadow. I consider Terry and Jackie not as homeowners that provided me a hospitable stay in their home while I was up there on vacation, but as good friends. People bring meaning to a place and they have certainly brought meaning to my experience in their home by providing great conversation and treating me as if I were a long time friend. Terry even offered me a personal life coaching session that has brought me great insight and encouragement in reaching my career goals. This review and the uploaded pictures don't come anywhere close to doing this place justice. If you're up in the Colorado area in Estes Park looking for a home away from home then give Terry a call right away. I warn you that you'll never leave though.

You have a beautiful mountain home - we truly enjoyed our great "homely" accommodations with lots of friendly service "with a smile!" Thank you for your warm hospitality. It was fun to be here - perhaps next year for the 2009 Scottish / Irish festival.

After a long, hard journey(for bikers that is) we found a pleasant and enjoyable place to stay at Terry and Jacqui's mountain lodge. Rocky Mountain National Park was the "high point" of our bicycle tour from Salt Lake City to Denver, where we shall arrive soon.
