Best house we rented in our alaska trip--Highly recommend

We are a family of 5--kids ages 19,18,13 and we rented this lovely cottage for a 3 day stay in Homer. The house is very well designed and the view-- lovely. Since we were hiking and fishing, the hot tub was invaluable. What was even better, is the fact we had a dinner "party" one night for a total of 11 people and prepared our fresh fish in 3 different ways(grilled, fried, baked) and the kitchen/grill set up was wonderful ..as well enough chairs/plates/wine glassses for this larger group. We travel quite a bit and highly recommend this rental. We stayed in 2 other houses in other locations which were more expensive and yet not half as charming.

We stayed in late July with our two kids and had a wonderful time! The Homer spit was so cool! We also visited the Meadery and Two Sisters Bakery. The Homestead is a great place for king crab legs. The hot tub was AWESOME!!! I definately want a vacation home like this one. For future renters: The day bed in the second room is perfect for smaller kids but questionable for teens but we made do just fine. The rental is in an ideal location and private. You will be in for a real treat. :) For the owners: Thank you so much for letting us use your beautiful cottage. Loved it!

Weeklong relaxing honeymoon in Homer

We stayed at the Fireweed cottage in early July of 2011. We just got married and were very pleased with the cottage. It was very modern and we had EVERYTHING we needed! We especially enjoyed the hottub. We had all the pots and pans we needed to cook when we wanted, and the cottage had lots of DVDs to choose from to watch when we stayed in, the one (out of the 2) beds we used was fantastic, everything about the trip was great. It would be great for honeymooners, a couple or two, or a small family. Worth every penny! :)

Loved the house and the location. Wish we could have stayed longer. Saw lots of eagles and a young male moose. If we come to Homer again, we will definitely stay here.

Owner response:We wish you could have stayed longer too. Hope you will come back again sometime!

We've stayed at lots of vrbo places through the years, but Little Fireweed Cottage is a standout in a field crowded with wonderful experiences. The cottage is perfectly located - a quick drive to town, but far enough out to be quiet and private. It's situated on the property to maximize views from the deck, main living area, and master bedroom (the view is more spectacular than you'd think from the website pictures). It has everything you might need - grill, washer & dryer, laptop with good internet access, complete kitchen - but even better it doesn't have a bunch of random stuff cluttering it up. Every item looks like it was chosen for its spot, is beautiful or functional, and works perfectly. Whoever cleans it does a great job, it was spotless. The hot tub is a blast, would advise against using the Northern Lights function if you've been imbibing.... Some hikes we liked : Anchor Point (farthest you can go on a road in the western hemisphere and has the sign to prove it!) ; Bishops Beach; Homestead Trail; through the Old Believer Village at the end of East End Rd; Calvin & Coyle Trail. There are some excellent art galleries in Homer. Homer Celebrity Alert - the author of the Moon Guide to Alaska, Don Pitcher, exhibits at the Ptarmigan Gallery and has some great Alaska stories. Thank you, Tyson and Ailsa, for a stellar experience.

Home Sweet Homer! We learned the meaning of those words at Fireweed Cottage where we stayed for 6 days to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniv and your home surpassed our expectations! We watched a Mama moose and her babies every nite around 10:30 PM from our deck overlooking the Spit. The bed was soooooo comfortable! The HotTub so relaxing after touring all day! It was private but so close to everything, Thankyou for sharing this wonderful place with us! We can't wait to return! We LOVED Fat Olives, Sourdough Express, The Caribou Diner and Cups for delicious food! Rainbow does a fun Halibut fishing charter from the Spit! Razor Clamming in Ninilchick was fun, too! We also loved Halibut Cove and Seldovia across the Harbor as you suggested! God Bless!

We (five adults) had a wonderful stay at Little Fireweed Cottage......Having rented dozens of homes through VRBO over the years I can rate this as one of the best.....the cottage is equipped for every conceivable need and the view is incredible....I loved all the hand-made pottery in the kitchen.......we found out quickly that two days is just not enough time to spend in Homer, though, especially since we never wanted to leave the cottage.....Note to Tyson: My brother-in-law (aka "the fishing fool") loved this place so much he wants to buy it.....We look forward to returning again....thanks so much !!!

Owner response:Thanks for the great review guys! We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay! Hope to have you back one day.

We were the proud "owners" of the Little Fireweed Cottage for three fabulous days and two nights in June 2007. Not only was the cottage in a perfect location to see the bay and mountains, but it was a great jump off point to do other outdoor activities in the local Homer area. Definitely want to return back for another visit.

The Little Fireweed Cottage is a "home away from home". We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay this last April. The view was breathtaking and we enjoyed sipping wine in the hot tub. We are looking forward to returning to Homer in the near future.

What a view! The cabin overlooks the incredible Kachemak Bay, the snow covered mountains and the hidden gem that is the Homer Spit. Visiting this past December was a memory that my wife and I will never forget. We rented X-country skiis and hit the trails all day, shopped for unique art, and at the end of the day we soaked our tired muscles in the hot-tub while watching a flick on the flat screen TV that extends out so we could sip wine, soak in the tub and watch our favorite movies. What an incredible experience. Hoping to come back in the Summer for another round!

Little Fireweed Cottage is certainly a place you can relax! It is a home away from home for my husband and I. We love the cozy floorplan and the tasteful interior design. The hottub is our favorite feature and we will definately be back to soak and watch the sunrise.

We got to visit the cottage before the hot tub, so very much looking forward to a return trip to enjoy that outstanding feature. Aside from being new, very clean, and charmingly decorated, we liked how close-in it is to shopping, the bay, and all the things we like to do.
