Aloha! You have found "Hale Sweet Hale" an OCEANFRONT Hawaiian-style bungalow nestled on the Southeast coast of the 'Big Island' of Hawaii. A 100% remodel of the unit was completed in June of 2009. This is a full one bedroom condominium with a king bed and bath on the entry level and living room, dining room and kitchen 4 steps up on the upper level with a comfortable Queen sofa sleeper in the living room. Greet the sunrise with your coffee on the lanai and view whales lazily basking in the warm waters, spend your days exploring South Point, the volcano, nearby villages and ancient heaus or just relax by the pool or in the hot tub. In the evening you can meet your neighbors while you grill your dinner by the pool.
Colony One at Sea Mountain offers all the conveniences and luxury of modern resort living in a timeless rural Hawaiian setting. Ideally situated a five minute walk to legendary Black Sand Beach at Punaluu and charming Hokuloa Church. Drive just a half hour to Volcano National Park where you can experience the thrill of watching lava flow to the sea and then return home to enjoy the relaxing, tropical setting. This is a very dramatic area that stirs the imagination and allows glimpses into what ancient Hawaii must have been like.
Local style restaurants are just a few minutes away in Naalehu or Pahala. The town of Volcano, a 35 minute drive and just outside the park entrance on Old Volcano Road, boasts two highly acclaimed restaurants: Kileaua Lodge (reservations a must) and Thai Thai as well as Kiawe Cafe and Lava Rock Cafe.

Why the Owner Chose Punaluu
We have enjoyed success with our Kona vacation rental and formed many warm relationships with our repeat guests. We found ourselves visiting the south island on every trip to Hawaii and were so impressed with the condos at Colony One and the beautiful grounds that we couldn't resist purchasing another vacation in Hawaii.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
We enjoy the community at Colony One, meeting people around the bar-b-ques at night or at the pool and the beautiful golf course. There is a rich cultural heritage in the area that is so much more natural and less developed than any place we in the islands. The proximity to the volcano, the charming town of Volcano with it's great restaurants and not to miss Sunday Farmer's Market and then nearby Na'alehu ensure that there's always something fun to do.
Owner's Map of Punaluu
We live in northern California and have relatives on the Big Island. We purchased a home at Kealakekua Bay (www.vrbo.com/100245) for our family's use and as a vacation rental in 1999. We enjoy many recreational sports including backpacking, skiing, hiking, golfing, hunting and fishing and of course snorkeling and kayaking in Hawaii.

The Pfeffer house is the best! Everything is just great! We saw 5 turtles resting on the beach. Enjoyed the wonderful view and very pleasant weather. The Sunday Farmer's Market in Volcano Village is the best anywhere: Great breakfasts cooked to order; wonderful varieties of produce; and the best bakery items! Starts at 7:00 to 10:00 and only 1/2 hour away. Mahalo and we'll be back!

Two weeks: House finch, saffron finch, house sparrow, northern cardinal (male and female), yellow billed cardinal, red crested cardinal, common myna, zebra dove, domestic ducks on golf course. HUMPBACK WHALES EVERY DAY! For one of the best hamburgers you will ever have go to Na'alehu; the Hana Hou. Wow! Thank you for such a nicely equipped condo. Everything is lovely. Our stay could not have been more perfect!

Mahalo for a great vacation spot. We had a great time (saw amazing lava flows from a Blue Hawaii helicopter tour). Home to come back some day.

What a shame folks stopped writing in '07. I truly enjoyed their thoughts. My husband and I came to the "Big Island" for work, but every night we got to come "home" to your lovely hale. It helped melt away our stress and weariness. We love the layout and the kitchen, balcony and living room are cozy. My only disappointment was the lack of a bathtub. I do like to soak in private. All in all our stay was excellent! Bless you for sharing your piecde of heaven with us. Mahalo

Aloha - What a wonderful place to lay back during stormy weather with hot tub as a haven! Loved the view! The kitchen is lovely, bedroom cosy, whole layout excellent. Kudos to architect & interior designer Melouise :-) The grounds keeper worked hard during this wet and windy storm to keep things looking ship-shape. And a big thank you to prior occupants who left microwave popcorn and garlic olive oil. Thanks

Mahola! Two weeks in Paradise!! We really appreciated your letting us stay in your Hale. Perfect location for our adventurous spirits. We visited every spot from here to Kona and from here to West of Hilo. We loved the snorkeling here and up at A-Bay. OH, and the night sky was incredible. Sunrises down at Black Sand Beach were awesome (5:30 AM). Ate pizza at Shaka in Naahelu which we recommend as well. At breakfast and lunch at the Punalu'u Bakery. The people who live on this islandd are so kind and friendly. The condo was comfortable and we hope that those who stay here will enjoy it. The grounds keepers do a great job and the place is well kept. We will be back! Aloha!
